General Joe Talk / GI JOE 3 3/4 returns (or did it really leave?)
« on: April 20, 2005, 03:47:22 PM »
So much for the hiatus

http://www.mastercollector.com/

And even the Brazilian line of GI JOE is expecting to re-launch later in the year.

None of this has sunk in yet.

Well these have been on other message boards (but I wanted to do test of this picture hosting site).  The links that were provided don't work all the time.  So why not show them here.

My thoughts were buired on joecustoms so I will re-post them here..

The winter operation set screams of figures released in 1993/94. Some good molds ruined by poor paint applications. I guess Hasbro wants the figures to stick out, unlike the White Out/Ben Ben packs from 2000 (man. it's been 5 years already and they are still collecting dust in Canada). I wish the art work matched up the final product in terms of colour. Other wise these guys can only work in the sub-arctic, which is subject to less snow than the arctic regions.

The Imperial set is ok, but not great either. But the Baroness mold still has the "man hands". Good grief.

Reegardless, I will want both packs for my collection.

Off Topic / Something to think about

I got this email and I was surprised by the answer

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 300 employees and has the following statistics:

- 30 have been accused of spousal abuse.

- 9 have been arrested for fraud, 14 have been accused of writing bad cheques.

- 95 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses.

- 4 have done time for assault,

- 55 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit.

- 12 have been arrested on drug related charges.

- 16 are currently defendants in lawsuits.

- 62 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year.

Can you guess which organization this is?

It is the 301 MP's in the Canadian Parliament. The same group that cranks out hundred of new laws designed to keep the rest of us in line.

Which one did you vote for? TAKEN FROM THE OTTAWA CITIZEN.

My response...they are more than just crooks lol.

Off Topic / Jetsgo - Completely bogus
« on: March 11, 2005, 06:21:25 PM »
If you have not heard, Jetsgo ceased operations as of last night.

http://money.canoe.ca/News/TopPhoto/200 ... 57535.html

This is completely bogus how this was handled.  I feel sorry for the people that worked for this company as they didn't know this was coming.  They knew the company was losing money but still.

People that booked their tickets from Jetsgo have gotten screwed.  The lesson I learned from this (after watching the news), never book your tickets through the airline.  Use a ticket agent as you can get your money back.  I do my share of flying but at least the company uses an agent.   Man, I feel sorry for the people stranded at the airport and/or having their March break plans completely screwed up.

I hope this news didn't effect anybody hear.

General Joe Talk / 12 and 3 3/4 figure lines going into retirement
« on: February 19, 2005, 05:38:20 PM »
I had a hunch this Sigma line was going to be bad new for 12" and  3 3/4" collectors.

According the mastercollector newsletter (somebody copied the info on Joesightings thread),
Quote
As many of you may or may not know by now, after this Spring, the 12” and 3 3/4” versions of G.I. Joe have been put into retirement for a while. Hasbro is creating a new version of G.I. Joe in an 8” size called G.I. JOE SIGMA SIX

This means only one thing for me....................my wallet and my completist disease goes in retirement as well Hasbro.  Unless, Hasbro sprinkles us with a TRU exclusive pack once in a while with the Sigma line, I am done collecting.  The question is if the 3 3/4 joes" break is a long one (say like the NHL lockout), I may never come back to collecting. You your going to have to win me over.  Close out the lights, the party is over me. It was fun while it lasted.

Press Release

Well the 12" collectors are going to be pissed off. And I will be really pissed off if Hasbro got rid of the 3 3/4 line in favour of this.  Hopefully more details will be released.  But this smells like the Savage stuff all over again.

General Joe Talk / Argh...stupid elastics
« on: February 14, 2005, 09:44:27 AM »
I don't know why Hasbro decided to put those clear elastics on the figure hands within the comic 3 packs.  Some of the figure's hands are seriously ruined because of this.  I didn't realize the impact of this until I opened one of the packs.  My Brekhov figure's right hand has permanant creases caused by the force of a tight elastic on a soft hand.

So if you guys are planning to open up the packs down the road, I suggest you do it now rather than later to avoid the plastic from further getting cut.  I opened up all the packs I have a result just to take of the elastics.  Argh.
