AV, it seems like surface is the only option with insurance. Unless I choose xpress or purolator and I don't think the winner wants to have to pay 50+ shipping. I was just going to keep it in the original box that was planned and ship it air for 13.40. However, now that the price has gone way up, more than i ever expected. I don't want this to come back and bite me in the ass. So, I'm not sure what to do.

Mike,
That's what I thought too. The site says coverage up to 1000. However, I just passed by the PO since it was on my way to fill up gas to make sure. Unfortunately, the MAX coverage for
International Small Packet (Surface)
and
International Small Packet (Air)
is 100CAN.

The guy at the PO said that items shipped like that usually have little to no value, so they only cover up to 100 and I'd be **** out of luck with the rest if it got lost or if the winner claims to never have received the package. He said the only way to insure the package more than that is to ship the package in a larger parcel, which will be even more expensive (so stupid). With a larger box, these are the options:

The following shows the rate(s) for a parcel of 31.00cm x 26.00cm x 8.00cm weighing 0.6000Kg.

International Surface Parcel
Base Price: $27.35
Fuel Surcharge: $1.85
Insurance: $2.40
Total: $31.60

International Small Packet (Surface)
Base Price: $11.50
Insurance : $0.00 (Max Coverage of $100.00 is included)
Total: $11.50

International Small Packet (Air)
Base Price: $26.25
Insurance : $0.00 (Max Coverage of $100.00 is included)
Total: $26.25

Purolator International  (2 to 3 business days)
Base Price: $86.00
Fuel Surcharge: $5.81
Insurance: $1.20
Total: $93.01

PuroPak  (2 to 3 business days)
Base Price: $54.00
Fuel Surcharge: $3.65
Insurance: $1.20
Total: $58.85
The item will have to fit inside the convenience PuroPak package

Xpresspost International  (4 business days, guaranteed)
Base Price: $48.72
Fuel Surcharge: $3.29
Insurance: $1.20
Total: $53.21

With a bigger box, all I get is 1 more option. So Surface shipping just sky rockets this way and it'll take even longer to arrive. I didn't ask how long it would take this way, but it seems long and more likely to get lost. So, I'm not sure if I have any other option.

So, basically, I can only insure an item over 100 if I ship it surface in a larger box or with Xpress or Purolator. Why no option for airmail? Honestly, USPS is way better than Canadapost. They should just let you insure items as high as you like so long that you pay for it. I didn't know Canadapost would make shipping worldwide such big problem.

I'm selling some old toys on ebay, but the I have a major problem. Most of the bidders are from Europe (which is not the problem) and it's at well over 100US (problem) with a couple days remaining. Is there any way I can have the parcel shipped including something like insurance, delivery confirmation or some signature. I don't want to get screwed over and have the winner say they never received it then have paypal take the money back. Also, many of them are requesting it. However at the same time, I'm not sure the bidders want to pay like $50 for a parcel that measures 27x10x8 cm and is only 500g.

I checked at canadapost.ca and these are the options:

International Small Packet (Surface)
Base Price: $6.85
Delivery Confirmation : N/A
Signature : N/A
Insurance : $0.00 (Max Coverage of $100.00 is included)
        Total: $6.85

International Small Packet (Air)
Base Price: $13.40
Delivery Confirmation : N/A
Signature : N/A
Insurance : $0.00 (Max Coverage of $100.00 is included)
        Total: $13.40

PuroLetter (for documents only)  (2 to 3 business days)
Base Price: $44.95
Fuel Surcharge: $3.03
Delivery Confirmation : Included
Signature : Included
Insurance : N/A
       Total: $47.98

The item will have to fit inside the convenience PuroLetter package

Xpresspost International Prepaid Envelopes (for documents only)  (4 business days, guaranteed)
Base Price: $37.75
Fuel Surcharge: $2.55
Delivery Confirmation : Included
Signature : Included
Insurance : N/A
        Total: $40.30

The item will have to fit inside the prepaid envelope

Honestly, I have to say the Canadapost sucks. There is only a max coverage of 100CAN and I can't even insure or add any sort of confirmation that I know the winner will receive it. I was going to just ship it airmail, but I didn't expect the auction to get so high.

Any sort of help would be appreciated. Thanks

Scramble, thanks for the PM. It sounds like a great idea. I'm not sure if I can make it yet, but definitely will if I can.

I guess everyone should make a list of their wants/haves/trades then.

I was tempted to try it myself after hearing that Faces was infact available to Canadians. It does suck to know that SS is not. However, unlike Faces, I don't think there will be a huge amount of people armybuilding these, so I'm sure they can be found pretty cheap if you look around. When Faces was available, everyone was going nuts for CGs since we didn't get one since 85 and people were paying crazy prices. The fact that the CG 3 pack got cancelled too didn't help. No one knew if Hasbro was going to release CGs. I just can't see the same thing happening with SS. Plus, there wasn't a limit on this mailway as with Faces, so I'm sure many people have them in abundance.

Quote from: ""Pete The Greek""
This past weekend, I made a stop to TRU to find a Vader talking toy for Madman.

Sure blame me! Just kidding Pete   . I've also found myself sucked into the darkside sort of. Like I've said a few times. I'm not a Star Wars fan. When TPM and AOTC movies/toys were released, I really had no desire to pick any up.

However, after watching ROTS the other day, I picked up a few figs and was tempted to pick up some more (like clone troopers and some droids)but reasoned myself out of this. In my opinion, most of the figs aren't that great. I hated action attack on joes and I still hate them on SW figs. I picked up a Vader and Greivous. I don't think I'll be purchasing anymore of these though.

As Spill said, it's because Star Wars toys are everywhere. You walk into walmart, zellers, TRU, local comic/hobby shops and there they are.

If you think it was the spur ofthe moment purchase, like you said, you can return/get rid of  them later.

Items Wanted / In need of Vader voice changer mask

Redmao,
Thanks for the info. I swung by there yesterday and there was 2 left, so I decided to snatch one up. It was a gift for someone. Though I'm no big star wars fan I may get one for myself after seeing how cool it really is.

Redmao,
Thanks for the info. Funny thing is that this is the first place I should have checked. I haven't been to legends for a while. I'm no Star wars fan and didn't even know this mask existed, but I stumbled upon this the other day and wanted to get this for someone as a gift. Unfortunately, they've sold out. I headed there after work today. I was told that they should get some more though. I'm disappointed that I've got to spend twice what I should, but that's life I guess.  :x

Items Wanted / In need of Vader voice changer mask
« on: May 15, 2005, 10:16:38 PM »
If any of my fellow canucks outside of Quebec can do me a huge favour and help me obtain the following:

Darth Vader Voice changer mask:
http://www.toysrus.ca/webapp/wcs/stores ... ctId=47881

Because of the French laws here in Quebec the item is not available/sold here. You can click on the above and see why. That's means I can't buy it here or even have it shipped here from TRU.ca. I even checked some of the TRUs here to make sure. Once in a while some stuff does slip its way here, but not this time.

It's on sale for $24.97 down from $39.99 (from May 14-27). It's also the same price at the brick and mortar stores. So if anyone can swing by their local TRU and pick this up for me I'd be really appreciative.

I can pay via paypal (cost + shipping), a few bucks for your time or with some joes. A last resort would to get it from some friends south of the border, but with the sale it would be cheaper for me.

Thanks.

General Joe Talk / Box Art up at MC

The box art is up at MC. They went for a new look in comparison to the previous sets and in all honestly, the box art is freaking amazing.

Great job to those at MC.
