General Joe Talk / How do you rate the POC Jungle Viper?

Well I have one so far.  I had to open it and play.  Unfortunately that may have been a mistake. 

I really loved this figure from all the early pics to the reviews and packaged shots.  However once I was able to get my hands on one it turned out I didn't find the figure that great after all.  I think it is a nicely done figure with a good, not great gun.  With all the great accessories and guns that have been appearing with figures lately I might have expected too much.  The gun is extremely long, and based on a real life gun, but it doesn't seem particularly detailed to me.  The night vision goggles that seemed so cool now seem a little too long and don't sit very well on the head.  The camo is cool, but I actually find it hinders the figures mobility and any really good positioning with the gun.

Don't get me wrong I like the figure and will get a few, but I was  surprised by my lack of enthusiasm.

Ontario / Local Walmart clearance.

Went to 2 Walmarts today.  One local to me, one not.

Hwy 7/Jane - $3 ROC figs.  Only had 1 Rex, Baroness and 2 Destros.  Not much else on sale.  Still had a couple of 25th HISS and RAM/Air Chariots as well ($19.92)

Eglinton/Pharmacy - $5 Wave 3 Alphas (only 1 Lava Pod left), $2.49 Rollers, 1 Rip-it Jetstorm.  However they did drop the price on some unexpected TF and IM stuff.  The new IM movie 3 pack w/Whiplash, Mark 5 and Naval Drone is now $12 instead of $20.  Also the new TF 2 packs (1 Voyager, 1 deluxe) are now $22 instead of $35.

Ontario / Local Zellers has some ROC on clearance (not much)

I don't know how long it will last, but my local Zellers (East York Town Centre) has some ROC on clearance. 

They recently did a reset of the toys and they set up about six really long tables with a ton of stuff on clearance.  This week the stuff is 40% off the clearance price. 

As for ROC, all they had on clearance were some role play items, single figures (only saw Baroness and Destro) at $6.99 - 40% and the exclusive figure/vehicle packs (Serpent Armor, Jetpack, etc.).  Unfortunately the vehicle packs are clearance priced at $29.99!!!!!  So you get 40% off of that and it makes it approximately $20 each after tax.  They had at least 4 of each pack.

Wow talk about a lot of negativity.

Once again for everyone.  This isn't ARAH!!!!  It seems that TF fans finally figured it out and enjoy the new versions they get every couple of years.  We need to start doing the same.

I'm actually glad to see that the show isn't going with the one dimensional Cobra vs. Joe.  Having the government after them, using other Joes basically, should make for some interesting stories.  As long as they don't dumb it down too much for kids.  It makes sense the governemnt would want them to come in and if they don't follow orders then they would send people after them.  Granted, it may not make for good long term story telling, but we have to wait and see.

Also, the characterization/backstory behind each character seems like more actual thought was put into each character than was put into the whole line of characters for most of the past 10 years.  Some will work, others won't, that's just the way it goes.  However it looks like at least it won't be for a lack of trying.  Voices could really make or break some of the characters.  Cobra Commander is still going to be a masked man behind the scenes with a "fake" Adam Decobray character.  That makes infinitely more sense than a masked man who is always seen trying to run an organization behind a mask. 

Cobra also has a more realistic goal.  Rather than world domination, or power through money, it seems to be more along the fanatical side with the desire to rebuild the world in their image (much like certain terrorist groups today).

I'm hopeful for the new series.  The art design doesn't move me, but it doesn't look awful either.

Well we all know about the oh so lovely people who switch out figures to get a new item while getting rid of a cheap one.  However today at the Cedarbrae Zellers I found something that only qualifies as extreme douchebag of the year!!

Seriously?  4 comic packs?  I should have mentioned it to the staff, but I know they usually don't care.  Still I should have mentioned it.  That kind of guy needs a swift kick to the nether regions to start, and a progressively worse fate from there.

Just wondering what we have gotten that was either Resolute, or Resolute but not labelled as such?

Here is what I can think of off the top of my head:

Resolute:

Duke, Flight Pack Duke, Arctic Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Beach Head, Flint, Roadblock, Stalker.
CC (single card), Trooper (single card), BAT, Red Trooper, Red Officer, Black CC, CC (7 pack), Alley Viper, Destro, SS, Baroness, Zartan, Firefly

Resolute, but not:

Wild Bill (Dragonhawk), Gung-Ho (walmart 2 pack), Recondo (POC)

Anyone else I'm missing?

All Across Canada / Zellers sale on ROC?

So www.actionfigurenews.ca is reporting that Zellers is marking down a bunch of different items across all locations.  Supposedly the majority is "exclusive" type items to Zellers.

The report is that the RHINO is marked down to $49.99.  It doesn't mention anything else, but it might be time to check and see what is on sale.

For me here is what I would like with vehicles:

Dreadnok Air and Ground Assault sets.  They have all 4 vehicles (FANG, Ghost Hawk, RAM, Stinger) and the sets are pretty rare and fairly unique.  Of course they are personal faves.

VAMP mk2/Tiger Sting.  They have the updated mold and now with the Wolf Hound, they have a missile rack that works well in my opinion.

Of course subgroup repaints would also be nice.

For figures:

I would actually like to see them include a few of the 7 packs into waves on individual cards.

So we all know Hasbro likes to go back to the same well over and over.  No where is that
more evident than in their Star Wars line.  We also saw how well the 25th line did, especially the figures, with classic packaging.  Even the POC line has done a sort of retro return with vehicles being boxed and us having to assemble them.  Now with Star Wars they are releasing "vintage" packaging for the At-At, Snow Speeder and Tie Fighter.

My question is, would you guys be willing to buy re-releases of 25th vehicles in vintage packaging with "some assembly required?"

Personally I find it a funny novelty, but it holds no value to me outside of being "rare.". I dislike the figure and personally have no interest in it except for trade bait.
