I love these stories! ;D
-
Cool! This one is one of my personal favourites, it shows the Baron at his most ruthless.
-
These are great! I wish I knew more about the European lore. I got my first AF figures this year.
-
visit the site and read the comics in the archive!
-
Wow, that was interesting, I assume this is the origin of the kraken?
-
yup.
-
There's a pretty cool potted-history article here: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/home/history/index.html (http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/home/history/index.html) That should bring you up to speed with the franchise. I have the complete comic collection online in B&W, we're working towards releasing the full set in colour through this fan-project. At the moment we're focussing on releasing all of the origin storylines, enemies first.

Yeah, bftb is easily one of the best sites out there.. great work guys!
-
Thank you.
-
I never posted before to say how great these stories are, especially the early carreer of the Major. Great work by all means. Are these same coloured stories available in tradepaperback format?
-
Yes, they are. Although The Black Major and Codename Kraken are both from the upcoming volume 4.
Please check the BFTB Store for volumes 1-3 and the forum section for progress updates on the remaining 7.
The printed editions have no watermarks, of course.
-
Speaking of the tradebacks, that argen 7 fan made issue on the site, will it see printing? I really liked that one!
-
It's been reworked into the forthcoming mini-series by Rising Sun.
-
Sweet! I want that!!

What do you mean by "it made issue"?
-
From the BFTB Fanfic section: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/fanfic/ ... index.html (http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/fanfic/argen7/index.html)

Nasty pair of guys.
-
Seriously, Hasbro's 25th line should've dedicated some figures to Action Force's biggest icons, like they did for the Plastirama characters. Now that I'm discovering Action Force for the first time, I'm realizing that these comic books deal with very dead serious life and death matters and are very well written/illustrated, just the way I like it.
-
I'm glad you're all enjoying it! This strip has always been a personal favourite of mine.
There's lots more in the BFTB archives, latinjoe22.

Nasty guy. But I dig the kraken concept, glad I've learned more about them now. Reminds me of the lobotomaxx, predacon, stuff.
-
Kraken; all clones, each one exactly alike, the perfect marine army, perfectly disciplined, they obey without question, fight without fear.
aye, and smell like old sardines too!

aye, and smell like old sardines too!
Now that is funny!

it's from the audio cassette 'The Baron's Revenge' that was part of the fanclub package. a full-on audio movie, in which AF battle Ironblood's Shadows to save the world. Black Major comes out with the description of the new Kraken and Skip counters with the quip. it's one of the best damn lines in it.
you can check it out at BFTB:

they're embarassing...
italian: add a random 'a' to words. 'there-a on-a the low-level-a radar'
chinese: use lots of 'ah' sounds and bad grammar. 'no-ah picture please. please to-ah be joining ah-ffical press tour!'
german: say 'ja' and add t's to words. 'Ja, ist goodt!'
and Beaver doesn't sound remotely Canadian....
and the whole 'he's a Yank too, but we don't hold that against him' line is racist...
-
I think dubbing it as racist is a bit extreme. It's cheesy, at best. Remember this thing is 25 years old, stereotypes were a lot more commonplace in those days.
-
So this was basically the action force equivalent of joining the gi joe fan club in the states?
-
yeah. you got the tape, a dog tag thingy and a code-breaker card.
damned if i know what happened to my tag and card... guess they got thrown out...
-
Nice. Over here, I remember the dog tag, web belt, and iron-on sticker. Definately no audio tape.

What a bloody great story this is. Chopper did a superlative job of blending the coloured pages with the original centre spreads. Can't wait to see this in printed form!

give 'em hell, Eagle!!!
Where's Sgt. Slaughter when you need him eh? ;D
