G.I. Joe 2014 Convention Set: Zombie Hunters
« on: December 15, 2013, 02:09:29 PM »

From the club's brochure:

Quote
G.I. Joe Zombie Hunters COBRA forces have acquired the “Compound Z” formula and have started testing it on their own soldiers. They believe by creating zombie warriors they can rule the World and turn its population into mindless creatures. G.I. JOE headquarters is split on how to handle the zombie affliction: save or eradicate?

GENERAL HAWK has formed two groups to solve this deadly problem. Who will be successful? Will it be the Zombie Hunters whose mission is to eradicate those infected or will it be the E.C.O. (Emergency Chemical Operations) Force trying to rescue and find an antidote for those afflicted? And, what about the team members who become zombies, are they a casualty of war? If too many are turned, who will be left to complete their mission? Only time will tell and it’s running out!

The 2014 G.I. JOE vs. COBRA convention set contains highly requested teams and some new additions available for the first time in the modern era 25A action figure style.

This special edition set includes:

Zombie Hunters: Outback, T’J Bang, Steel Brigade Commander
E.C.O. Force: Flint, Ozone, Clean-Sweep
Cobra Lab-Rats x 2, Toxo-Vipers x 3, Toxo-Zombies x 3, and Repulsor with Dawg (NEW K-9).

Looks promising. VERY PROMISING.

The 50th Anniversary year ties into the 12" classic Military Joes, moreso than the 4" version of G.I.Joe.
The 4" scale really isn't "celebrating" anything in 2014, so the convention set doesn't necessarily have to reflect the anniversary theme.

Zombies are the future, bro. I hear they're going to re-brand the line as "Joe of the Dead" and all Cobra forces will be zombies from now on. Hazard and Zombie Viper were just the tip of the iceberg!!!

pass. Don't care for the zombie tie-ins. Look forward to seeing the figures themselves but that's about it.

Only natural that the Joe line, which is not selling particularly well, would attempt to incorporate something that is marketing well - namely, zombies.
I can't hate them for it.

The 12" Convention set DOES have a 4" figure included in it.
It's got a 12" Green Beret in tiger stripe, a 12" Adventure team figure in a more nondescript outfit, and a 4" Joe Colton figure to cover the major eras of GIJOE over the last 50 years. Kind of an interesting ( and respectful) approach to things.

Until I see pictures, i will reserve judgment until then.  Otherwise, zombies doesn't do anything for me.

I'm digging this anti-zombie sentiment. More for Jon!!

Yes... I realize that's hoarder-talk.

ARAH wasn't cancelled because it wasn't selling. ARAH was cancelled because Hasbro bought Kenner and put them in charge of the line and they wanted to do G.I.Joe Extreme rather than have a line compete with Star Wars. As a kid I LOVED the sublines (Eco, DEF, Street Fighter, Star Brigade)

He might be garish, but this Sci-Fi is one of the best Joe figures ever made in terms of playability for kids: zip-line, space helmet, built-in gun on his hand (so you can never lose it), armour (so he can take a hit)
