Well Madman, there's another GI Joe convention with just as cool people, and it's a lot closer.

You should come down man. See if Custo wants to join you!

Get a 'Montreal Troop' on the way!

I'll give you a free timbit. ;-)

and you can watch me wipe the floor with Mike as Goldberg with the Joe Royal Rumble on PS2.  :shifty:

All right, more like watch Mike try to beat his record from last year in throwing me out of the ring in 5 seconds. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna try dagnamit!

22 throws out the entire night.

Loop still has the record at being thrown out 4 seconds into the match however. ;-)

I'd definitely love to come down, but April is always a bad time for me. Perhaps the worst month of the year. I'll only know last minute sadly. I really want to check out the store and meet a bunch of you guys because I know it'll be a blast. The joe rumble sounds depressing if Mike's going to be throwing everyone out of the ring every 5 seconds...j/k. I'm sure it's loads of fun.

Ya see.... I'm shocked no one has bothered to 'team up' on me yet.

I'd lose that thing everytime if all of the other players were out to get me!
Mike

Oh crap... what have I done.

The reason you haven't had any competition is because you haven't played against Jon S.

This year... you're in trouble!

Which version of the game are we playing this year, just in case someone say wanted to make a certain wrestler...

I don't plan on making 30 new Joes and Cobras for SDvsRAW06, so most likely the same one as before.... not even sure what it's called anymore - gotta check!

I'll bring the newest one anyway.... got to make sure Loop will bring his PS2 and such.

As for Blue Smurf....... we'll see.

"Blue Smurf" is redundent. "Papa Smurf" is the bad ass that's going to toss everyone out of the Rumble.

Can we bring our own custom wrestlers for SDvsRAW06?

I'll bring everyone's favourite tropical superstar - The Fruit!

I've moved these to their own thread....... they were originally in the U.S. Convention thread.

Here's what I'd LIKE to do for the meet.

1. Have all Custom wrestlers as Joes and Cobras.
2. Use the newest Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 game.
3. Have no 'CAW' characters that don't exist - like Jons character.
4. Have 'self created' CAW wrestlers included. (myself, Loop, etc)
5. Have a 'mini-tournament' of sorts for a G.I. Joe Wrestling Trophy.... yes, there would be an actual trophy.

That's it.
Any suggestions?
If we can't make sure we have 30 CAW Joes and Cobras, then we'll just use the old version of the game.

CAW

Create
A
Wrestler

Or it's the sound Raptor makes when playing with his birds.
;-)

On a side note, I made Tunnel Rat for the SDvsR06 game.
If anyone is interested in making some Joes/Cobras - drop me a PM - the idea is to have 30 different ones for the meet.

I need to know the version because I don't own any of the games and have to have a friend bring one down to poker night to create my wrestler.

I'm not going to waste my valuable poker time creating a wrestler that I can't use at the meet.

Because, as it turns out, I actually hate wrestling.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006 is the PLANNED version to use - as long as there's enough CAWs made to use for it.

IF we end up using the old one - I THINK it's Smackdown: Here Come The Pain.

My buddy Jean's pretty good at CAWing. If I can pry him away from GM Mode for an afternoon, I'll see about making some 87-88 guys.

I guess we'll post when we have a charcter completed so we don't end up with twenty versions of Back-Stop (for example).

Here's the official list.

BHT
Headman
Joe Canuck
Outback
Overlord
Tunnel Rat
Roadblack
Crimson Guard
Cutter
Buzzer
Airtight (and he looks cool!)
Ripper
Bazooka
Torch
Ripcord
Cobra Soldier

Scramble
Shockwave

I'll update this as we have more.... but I have a feeling there won't be many more.

Make the guys 'realistic' if possible. For example - Roadblock would be stronger than Firefly, but Firefly would be quicker.

I'll get some pics up of the ones I've done.

Also, try to make a Cobra for every Joe you make.

Is there a way of taking screenshots, or should I just point a camera at the TV.

And I'll definitely make an even Joe-to-Cobra ratio. I hope to get twenty of each and play a year of GM mode GI Joe vs Cobra.

Papa Smurf got made because of your picture. Making him was a blast.

Ok guys,
Here's what I'v gotten done so far.

Joes
Joe Canuck
Outback
Tunnel Rat
Roadblack
Cutter
Airtight (and he looks cool!)
Bazooka
Ripcord
Shipwreck

Cobras
Headman
Overlord
Crimson Guard
Buzzer
Ripper
Torch
Cobra Soldier
Dr. Venom
Stinger Driver

I'm making an even amount - 15 Joes, 15 Cobras.

With the amount of midnight shifts my wife has been getting (and is about to get), I'm finding I actually have the spare time each night to make some guys.

So, expect a nice full roster of guys to use at the meet this year.

You can all thank her later. ;-)

I tend to think the 1984/1985 were the best, but to each their own.

Falcon would be a no - there's no beret to use in the game

Chuckles is easy enough, I may do him.
Crazylegs - I'll see if the parts are there for him, but I don't think they are....

In the meantime, here's some (crappy) pics of a few that I did.

Keep in mind guys, I'm also doing EACH guys own moveset, and stats.

Just an FYI,
Me and 5 customers just played with the WWE Joes.

Quick Kick is amazing, and Tunnel Rat is MEGA fast (Hyper too!)

Croc Master is freakin' huge and tough. JoeCanuck seems to reverse everything. Backstop.... heh heh heh... he bleeds like a pig!
Especially after 10 chair shots to the head!

I'm loving Tunnel Rats entrance. I used Paul Londons. ;-)

Don't you read the filecards?! "Don't mess with Back-Stop. Even though he's had more broken bones, ripped tendons and severed arteries than anyone else on the Joe Team, he's still strong willed enough to break, rip, or sever something of yours."

Every chairshot is a nail in the coffin, Mike.

Hey, to get back to my original question,

What do you guys think  of a 'King Of The Ring' type thing?

It would be set up something like this:

Scramble ---------
vs
Raptor  ------------/

Loop---------------
vs
Beav---------------/

The winner of those two matches meet each other, and then the winner of that match meets the winner of all the bottom matches.

BHT----------------
vs
Morgardee---------/

Pete The Greek --
vs
Jon------------------/

You'd sign up when you arrive, and have the match anytime during the day.

I think I can wrangle an ACTUAL Statue 'award' for it really cheap.
It would add to the day, and give 'official' bragging rights to someone.

I'd set it up that there would be no MORE than 16 spots available, making a total of 20 matches throughout the day..... or less if both players loose.

I 'really' want tio do this, but I need someone else to be willing to play as well. Regardless of how good (or bad) you may be. Everyone gets lucky in these things sometimes. Heck, I think Morgardee even came close to tossing me out once. ;-)

The matches would be Hardcore, TLC, Ladder, or Steel Cage - just to make things interesting.

I noticed I'm facing off against Mike in this. Man, me and my big mouth. Well then again, won't it be funny if I win. Just give me a chance to have a couple of practice matches.

Aw to heck with it, you're going down Mike! It's gonna be one of those Disney underdog stories.

I'm in. With my customs locked up, no dio shooting and someone else covering the door I actually get to play this year. (for the first round anyway).

No ladder matches though. I can never figure out how to climb or grab for the belt.

Dave, you won't be facing me - or you might!?

Whoever 'signs up', will have their name in a 'hat' so to speak.
Then you find out who you're fighting.

That's where the chart comes in - to keep track.

I'll call and see about the trophy. ;-)

EDIT: I called. Going to look at some tomorrow.... or later today.... since it's been so dead today with this snow and cold outside.

Alright, which version of this game are we playing again and it's it a straight up 1 pin fall or is it over the top? I think I might finally pick up the game for once, if I get time.
Title: Joe Wrestling 2006 @ The Joe Meet
Post by: BHMike on March 03, 2006, 12:59:30 PM
Well,
I'm thinking we'll still have our 'rumbles' over the top.

But for the tournament, they will have to be single matches.

What type of matches will be determined when it's your turn.
That's the easiest way I can think of to make this work.

The trophy is big.... I think it's just over a foot tall.
I was gonna go with a little small 5 inch one, but changed my mind to the big one to make it mean more. :-)

Better pick it up soon Dave, there's alot of 'tricks' in it, and you can actually run out of stamina in this one!

Hey Mike, guess what I won off ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8263432721&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1)

If that links doesn't work, it's Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 on PS2.

For once I'll at least have a bit of practice. So, can I make my own character and bring that on a card, or are we using default Joes? I ask because if we are doing the elimination setup then it would be nice to use our own profiles (if we have them).

King of the 4 second ring toss loss record.

Post by: BHMike on March 07, 2006, 11:59:10 AM
The only problem I see with everyone making their own CAWs is that some folks will 'bulk' their guy up - Speed  - 10, Strength - 10, etc.

When I'm making the Joes/Cobras, I'm making it realistic and fair to each one.

For example :

Roadblock has a strength of 9, but a speed of 6.
Tunnel Rat has a strength of 7, but a speed of 9
Backstop has a strength of 7.5, and a speed of 7.5

See? Plus they're all pretty much Heavyweights.

While I have no problem with folks using their 'own' guys, for the tournament, I think it'll have to be limited to the ones I made, or 'approved' by the 'rankings' your CAW has.

Just trying to make it fair for all in the end.

Or....... we could just make it 'real' WWE guys that we use?

I wish you'd have posted that mike before I spent 5 hours on making and leveling a raptor.  :(   I've wasted an evening for nothing, and I don't really feel like playing anymore.

Maybe you can set a target number for people to hit with the CAW like 85 or something.

Anyone know how to "destat" a wrestler without losing all the effort made to create it?

I'd have been ok with this if it had been brought up a week ago. I don't really have that many evenings to waste.

Worst of all I'm not even that good, so even having an uber wrestler isn't going to prevent anyone from beating me or anything.

Assuming you made him in a Superheavy or Heavyweight mode, you can make him a Crusierweight and save him.
Then, alter his points in crusierweight.

Then, go back in and make him a Heavyweight again.

Save that, and make his stats no higher than 85-88.

How's that! ;-)

And to be honest guys, NO ONE except Scramble was up for helping making guys when I asked before - which is why I've spent most of my spare time making nearly 30 of them! ;-)

That would include renting a player, and finding time to play it. The rental part isn't so bad, but when you work min 12 hours a day, and have a 1 year old daughter, finding time to play video games just isn't going to happen.

For example, I *love* the game neverwinter nights. Love Love LOVE it. My wife has purchased the 2 expansion packs for me, the first one being 2 years ago now.

I still haven't finished the original game, and both expansions are still in the shrink wrap. Just no time.

For some reason I can imagine Mike letting the match drag on for 20 minutes, putting Morgardee through every table, every guardrail and busting several ladders on him.

Then out of nowhere, Morg hits his finisher and scores the pinfall.

I can see the first half of what you say happening, but I have a feeling the finish would be a little different.

I see Mike putting me thru 20 minutes of hell and then doing one of the Chris Jericho pins. You know, the one where he flexes with one foot on the body of the guy he just beat.

I say this because I just got my game in the mail today. I thought I'd give the game a spin so I played my favorite under dog, Steven Richards and thought Spike Dudley would be an easy win. Spike made me his bitch.

If I can't beat Spike Dudley, uh, smart money is on Mike for the Mike vs Morgardee match. Still, I'm not backing down. I want to face Mike in the first round of the tournament. Maybe I can get Raptor to throw a handful of white timbit frosting in his eyes or something.

Set your game settings on EASY as well Dave.

Practice in two player mode to get the feel of the game.
Work on picking up weapons, climbing cages, etc.

Learn a character really well, and use him.

As for me kicking your ass for 20 mins - Jon's vision of what would happen is pretty close.... BUT.

I've been known to get EXTREMELY cocky when playing this... and when I do that, I often loose.

Heck, I was being cocky once in here when 5 of us were playing it.

Myself, two regular customers, a father, and his son - I got tossed out of the rumbnle by the son - he was 5.

I think Loop was here that day actually...

As for the trophy, everyone (around here) is thinking I'm gonna win it.

I have NO clue how good Beav is at this game, or most of you for that matter - the mere fact that Dave bought the game so he can learn it actually has me worried.... what is HE kicks MY ass for 20 mins?!

Need I remind you of Captain Lou Albano?

So I started to play the game with my "Morgardee" wrestler. Started with the RAW side. I've had 3 matches and lost all three. I mean, what the hell. My first match is HHH, second match is HHH and Flair vs Morgardee and Shelton, and third match is a submission match against Flair. Uh, how about starting me off against some jobbers or something, or where is Barry Horowitz when you need him.  How about Al Snow at least.

BTW, how do you raise you rating. I know Mike said something about keeping your character around 85 but my guy is at 38. Will I start to win experience points that I use to raise that number?

Eat chair baby!

So speaking of the game, anyone beat HHH in the steel cage match for the belt? Also, does the story mode have 2 directions per show? I could have turned by back on Shelton or manage him. Each campaign is broken up into 3 chapters. For each chapter you "win" you get a trophy. (in some cases, that trophy is an actual person, but enough about the objectification of women in wrestling)

Whether you go the 'good guy' route or the 'bad guy' route has very little effect on the outcome of the chapter.

I also have Chuckles made. But his moveset is not nearly as stylish. My attempts at Fast Draw and Crazylegs did not go so well...

I gave Jinx a ton of martial arts/luchadore moves that are actually quite convincing. They're both 82's, so no matter which one you fight, you'll get the same level of challenge when facing me. I'll switch back and forth between characters throughout the tourney.

Bad news Jon.
Looks like none of the 'female' CAWs will work.
I tried to have a match today, and most of the 'best' match-types wouldn't allow Baroness or Lady Jaye in them.

Worse comes to worse, have her as a Manager.

When Raps stopped by the other day, I explained 'how' this was going to work for the trophy - just like King Of The Ring.

Problem is, if we have an uneven amount of people sign up - then the final match will end up being a Triple Threat.

Oh, and I've been playing off and on today..... I'm ready for you all now... especially you Dave. ;-)

There's no rule saying I have to use the same CAW for every match. ;)

For normal matches I'll use Jinx. For specialty matches I'll use Chuckles. Either that or I'll make a new CAW with Jinx's stats and moveset (so that everyone faces the same character)

Either way, you guys are going to lose.

I'm ready for you all now... especially you Dave. ;-)

C'mon hardcore match. I got me a pixelated chair with Mike's name all over it.

Mike, even if I do lose before we match up you and I gotta have a one on one match before I head out.

I guess I know what I'm doing tonight. Gotta practice up some more.

I expect to have at least one Rumble with you in it, and a Hardcore match against you.

I'd be your tag team partner as well if you want...... but I'd hit you with a chair and let the other team win. ;-)

Congrats to Raptor. Our new champion!!!!

Also, I got a phone call from the Devil. He says he'll need to borrow my space heater for the night. Apparently it's quite chilly down there right now.
