HASBRO ANSWERS TO THE FALL 2008 Q&A WITH JOECANUCK
« on: December 01, 2008, 06:14:34 PM »

Joecanuck Question #1) Nearly a year ago, we (Canada) was told that HTS would start shipping to Canada. Transformers, Star Wars, GI Joe collectors and others have all been waiting for HTS to finally start this. Are there any updates as to when we can expect this to happen?

HASBRO Answers: We will follow up with HTS on this.  Thanks for the patience and as always, the enthusiasm.

Joecanuck Question #2) Will the G.I.JOE resolute cartoon be picked up by a Canadian station such as YTV or Tele-Toon?

HASBRO Answers: We do not yet know if Resolute will air in Canada.

Joecanuck Question #3) There have been some major omissions in the re-releases. Are any of the following carded figures anticipated? Quick Kick , Dr. Mindbender, Zandar, Zarana, Recondo

HASBRO Answers: None of the mentioned figures will be single carded, but some of these we are working on for 2009 and beyond.

Joecanuck Question #4) Has (or will) any Canadian retailer picked up the Ultimate Battle Pack Target exclusive?

HASBRO Answers: To our knowledge, this has not been picked up in Canada.

Joecanuck Question #5) Can you provide any updates on a full release of the original Sunbow cartoon on DVD?

HASBRO Answers: We are looking into options for this.

Hopefully Resolute will be picked up - I think Teletoon pciked up Clone Wars a year later.

There's always Youtube.

Well, we know that Resolute will be 5-minute-long clips on the internet, anyway, so no loss there.  Besides, they'll probably just make a DVD pack with the whole series and some of the Resolute figures.

Something tells me Mindbender and Zarana will be in DVD packs.

Pete, I think he's talking about the mini-series one that was done ala Resolute will be - 4 and 5 minute mini-episodes. It took awhile for those to air up here in Canada. Cartoon Network had them, then StarWars.com (Hyperspace members), then Canada.

This question has been put to Hasbro and Hasbro Canada for the past 10 years.

And every time its been the exact same answer.

The conclusion I'm forced to draw is that the Canadian consumer base is considered simply not large enough to make the effort to arrange shipping of HTS goods up here.
I guess if the 5% or 10% additional earnings ( a guess) HTS would make from sales up here are not worth overcoming the "obstacles" to setting this up--then we will NEVER see shipping from this outfit to Canada--and this answer is just more of a decade's worth of passing the buck.
I've just thrown my hands up in disgust and no longer care.

I agree with you completely Arrow.  Let's all make a pact.  No more asking about HTS.  It isn't worth our time to waste 1 out of 5 questions with this anymore.  No surprise on the UBP.  Oh, let's also stop with the questions about possible single card/upcoming figures.  Hasbro released a statement about this so let's skip this question for the forseeable future.

Overall I would have to give Joecustoms the nod for best set of 5 questions.   I wasn't even aware of Dusty having a different body design than the rest of the line.  I also want to find out what this supposed "large playset/vehicle possibility will be.  Oh, and more extreme conditions packs YAY!!!  I would vote for a Jungle theme, and an underwater theme.
