American Carded figs?
« on: October 19, 2008, 07:47:34 PM »

Hey,

just curious, has anyone seen any American carded joes around lately? I know when joes first started to hit the market here in Canada, people mentioned spotting them, just wondering if that is still happening?

Thanks

It's not impossible. Generally we get the american carded figures in 2 scenarios

1) Delay of Canadian cards, so they import US product to meet demand
2) Canadian cards sell out, so they import US product to meet demand.

Basically, as long as you are seeing Canadian cards on the shelves, we won't see US ones. If we have a sellout scenario, then we may.

You can usually find them in Comic specialty stores.  In Ottawa, I've seen some in The Comic Book Shoppe and Silver Snail.  Fantasy Realm in Cornwall has a HUGE selection, too.  Never seen them in department stores, personally.  My theory is that our area is so bilingual, the big stores will only take bilingual packaging.

I've seen some at Walmart and Toys R Us. Not many, but a couple so they do get out there.

I've seen a few around, picked up a Snake-Eyes recently, saw a Wild Bill but wasn't interested in getting the american carded one.  It's been a mix on the pegs.

Wal-Mart is usally the first place where I have spotted them.  My local comic shop has imported them in as well.

Here is what I don't get.  If TRU can release their exclusives in Canada without the lame international packaging, why don't the single carded figure get the same treatment?   I hate the international packaging.

Same thing in my neck of the woods.  Wal~Mart is always the first to put out the new waves, and then TRU usually has them a few weeks later.  Zellers is doing a very poor job of keeping G.I. Joe stocked, you never know what they're going to have or when they'll get it.
