I've been getting alot of emails in the last 2 weeks with people wanting to help with the Joe Meet. While the help is appreciated - it's not really in the area that I'll require help in.
Without going into too much detail, there's approx. 7 Custom items that 'may' be made by various folks for door prizes. While that's great, door prizes are no good if no one is 'running' the event. Save your customs - give me your time! ;-)
I know everyone is looking forward to this, and we have people coming from literally around the world this year. But I'm making an official announcement that if you'd like to help - please help me out by picking a task below - only two or maybe three people needed to help me out with each.
My wife and I will be working the door / my tables (shoudl I get any). On top of that, I'll be overseeing the Joe vs. Cobra wrestling, the door prizes, and obviously everything else (including setting up tables, tearing down tables and cleaning up at the end of the day).
So, if you're serious about helping at the Canadian Joe Meet, here's the 'short list' of what I'm looking for:
Setting Up: Moto-Viper, THE Mike, Mrs. Mike
G.I. Joe : TCG (if this is being done)
Painting Contest: Scramble
Working the Door: THE Mike, Mrs. Mike, Radio Guy
Security for Customs: Radio Guy, Morgardee
Wrestling (Should I need a hand): Morgardee
Freebie Table: Loop, Stealth Viper
Tearing down/ Clean Up: THE Mike & whoever is left and wants to help.
Now I know people would like to just come and enjoy themselves - which is why I would like more than one person to help out with each item. This way everyone gets to enjoy the day.
I appreciate the fact that people want to donate prizes - and you're MORE than welcome to do so. But without some help running this - there will not be one next year. I didn't enjoy last years that much since I was making sure everything was going ok and 'watching' peoples customs to make sure none went missing.
So, if you'd like to help - and you've emailed / PM'd me about stuff - and I haven't gotten back to you yet - this is why.
Thanks gang.

hey mike,
put me down down for a couple of door shifts and /or guarding the customs table.

I'll help with tearing down/clean up.
-
I'm available for tare down, clean up. Anything else you need.
-
I'll be happy to help with the cleanup/takedown/tear down work, Mike.
And I can volunteer my buddy that's coming up with me too. ;D
-
Since I sorta initiated the freebie table, I wouldn't mind watching it. Gives me first dibs in leaving out my unwanted items, and I will need a lot of space, hahaha.
-
What sort of time frame are we talking about here? For example, it would suck to miss out on the freebie table because your watching the customs. Playing the devils advicate right now Mike.
That being said I can probably keep an eye on the customs table for a bit. Just make sure to keep it near the wrestling. ;D
-
I'm officially running the Speed Painting contest. I'll help set-up and tear down, too. I don't know about organizing a TCG tournament, but I would certainly help anyone that wants to know how to play.
-
Whatever you need me for while I'm there, just point me in the right direction.
-
Lance & I are happy to help out wherever help is needed.
-
Setting Up: Moto-Viper, BHT.
Working the Door: (When Denise and I aren't)
Security for Customs: (Someone to watch them) Two people needed.
Freebie Table:
Tearing down/ Clean Up: BHT (The more the better)
I can do any of these, and will certainly be around for clean up (and obviously setting up).
-
I can work the door or custom table security (or both)
-
Your second help offer is too late Jon, I've assigned tasks - thanks.
My wife may have her friend help her out at the door and my tables - which is a HUGE help for me. I've given some 'jobs' to people for the sections they said they could help in.
If you're a 'dealer' (Deadshot, etc) then I didn't need you to watch the door or another table as you'll have your own to contend with.
Thanks guys, this should make the day go smoother for everyone - especially me.
Who knows.... maybe I'll get to have fun at the Meet this year.

Mike,
I'd like to help out with something even if it means picking up the trash. I litteraly don't know anyone, not even my own fellow joes from my own Montreal. I am coming to the Meet but I have a question: how and when do we get the Shiver figure? If it includes an admission to the Meet then that means that it has to be purchased before? But when? I'm worried that I just might go there and miss out on this nice catch...
Anyhow I'm willing to help with anything just as long as I get to walk around from time to time! I'm a hardworking person myself and dedicate myself to anything I do. And what better way to get to know others than by beeing part of a team too.

Well first, if the figure is the main reason you're attending, then don't go. We'd love to have as many Joe Fans as possible attend, but there is only 30 of these things, and people WILL leave the Joe Meet without one. The trick is to get there early.... or stick around for the door prizes as we're also giving away a Black Ice, AND a Joe Canuck figure. Besides, you should want to attend to enjoy Joe with some peers and to meet new contacts and fans that share your hobby! That's the main reason the Joe Meet was started - and that will always be the reason we have them. ;-)
As for helping, I think I'm good - so thanks for the offer. I'll have more info on the Joe Meet figure this weekend, but for now you may want to read this thread here: http://www.joecanuck.com/joe/board/inde ... 8.msg10764 (http://www.joecanuck.com/joe/board/index.php?topic=1538.msg10764)
Most everything you need is in the first post. ;-)

Thanks Mike.
I'm glad you bring out the true spirit of this event. I actually am quite excited about the Meet, especially since I never attended one in my own city! As for the exclusive figure, I didn't think there would be only about 30...
But I think I'll understand if I don't get one. After all, there are other ways to highlight the event, right? Such as winning a customization contest per instance. I don't intend on winning but just as long as i get to have my picture somewhere next to my crappy figure or be part of something, It'll have to make my day heheheh. :)
-
If you're talking about winning the Speed Painting contest, there just might be something for the winner to take home with him.
-
What is exactly speed painting? You have to paint a figure as good as possible really quickly or what? Plz let me know I'd have to start training on my spare joe parts!
-
That just about covers it LJ. Scrams and I should have some rules posted by next week. I'm just melting down at work today, but I've alreay started putting together some wierd combinations of parts for the contest.
Scrams ran this at Monreal meet, and it was such a blast, my only regret is that running it means that I can't be *in* it.

-
Charles, you can always do one for fun!
-
Mike you know you can count on me for whatever you need. I'll set up, take down, clean up, whatever. Just tell me what to do.
And I'll DEFINATELY be helping clean up the freebie table ;D
-
You'll even take a 60% complete MCC?
-
Uhh... how complete is 60% Loop? I am driving afterall...
