First let me give a big congrats to all the entries. There is some GREAT stuff there. You all have incredible talent!
With that in mind....
The winning entry for the Joecanuck "Expand the Universe" Contest is......
the I.C.E. Queen!!
Please join me in congratulating Ken Davis (aka ARROW) on his winning entry!
*I.C.E. Queen* (COBRA High-energy Physicist)
Name: Eylene Sickle
POB: Cold Lake , Alberta
Specialty: High Energy Physics, Energy weapons
I.C.E. Queen started out as a junior figure skater who went from using
baseballs bats to bazookas against her competitors. Infatuated with the
nature of high energy, she attended universities under assumed aliases, and
gained several degrees in physics and energy sciences. It was her solo
attempts at constructing a H.A.A.R.M. ( High Altitude Atmospheric Resonance
Manipulation) device that brought her to the attention of COBRA, and COBRA
Commander. With COBRA funding, she begain work on a Indirect Conductive
Energy ( I.C.E.) weapon( to weaponize the earth's magnetosphere), and thus
earned her code-name.
Psych Profile: I.C.E. Queen isn't just a blonde Baroness, she is ruthless,
callous, vain, and extremely dangerous. Despite her looks, she is
exceptionally cold-hearted--she would think nothing of using her devastating
creations on the rest of the world, simply for the sake of seeing them work.
Baroness says: " I do not like this woman. She is vulgar, untrustworthy, and
vile....and she has the worst fashion sense I have EVER seen! I
mean........really.........red faux fur trim on a white parka???"

Grats!
-
Congrats! My 6.5 yr old daughter really "likes this girl" too. ;D
-
Well Done Arrow!!! We needed a female to balance out the crew!
-
Nice job Arrow - I had a hard time choosing. All of the entries had something worth voting for.
-
that was totally expected.
*grumbles: Knew I should've done artwork*
how many votes did i get?
-
Hey, COOL!
Thank you very much everyone for the votes!
I do have one SMALL request for the site though: in retrospect, I hate, HATE my character's first name. In hindsight, not only did I misspell "Eileen" as "Eylene" ( dddduuuuh), but abbreviating it makes no sense with the play-on-words intended for the last name "Sickle". Could we change the first name to "Isis", so then it would work better??
I hemmed and hawed over a character to use and finally decided that a female character would probably add the most "bang for the buck".
All the entries were great though, and some very clever ideas. It was a privilege to participate!

What? Change the first name. That's it, I want my vote back.
Just kidding.
Good job on the win!
-
Congrats on a great submission!
-

Now that I have a bit more time...
-- Will the voting records be released? just asking for curiosity sake.
-- To follow up on a previous post, this was contest entered out of fun, and I enjoyed taking part. That said if there is any interest in using my submission in any future works, it would be an honour to see Downhill (and the other great submissions) face (or aid) I.C.E. Queen in combat.
-- Congrats again to ARROW, I think we all knew when the voting opened yours was going to be the one to beat.
-- A big thanks to Stealth for running this contest, and here's to hoping we get more chances to "Expand the Universe" soon.

I'll leave that up to Stealth. I moved the thread to a hidden section of the site (Con planning stuff), so the winner wouldn't be "spoiled" without an official announcement.

I think it's safe to say we'll look to all entries for ideas down the road - who knows what will happen!
-
Thanks for the contest guys, I hope its the start of many!
-
Congratulations, Arrow!
It's nice to see a new and female character added to the Joe Canuck continuity.
-
Thanks guys - I enjoyed participating, even though my artistic ability is limited.
Hope the variety of entries made things exciting.
Congrats - she will be a great addition!

My hopes too, I'd like to get a shot at the next ones.
I'd like to say Congratulations to all winners. There could only be one that is decided by popular votes, but truly, all of you already are. I'm not joking, that's the way it is.
Qapla!

I do not envy who had to narrow this down.
But I love the I.C.E. Queen.
WANT FIGURE NOW!
I need to learn some restraint.
