For many of us that's driving distance boys! Lets jump the boarder in 2013.
For me it's only 7.5 hour drive.
10 South West Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, United States
Google map it. Assuming I got the address right that is. ;)
-
Only 1537km from my home. A little bit too far.
-
745 for me but I often find google maps over estimate times.
This is going to be a great convention. For anyone who has been sitting on the fence I doubt it's going to get any closer to us in Ontario then this. I feel very strongly that it will be a Night Force theme in 2013 and that should include the Night Boomer. You know there is going to be a strong demand for that.
-
I drove to Hamilton in '09 from Indy. Barring no other circumstances, if I can do it, you can too. :P
-
If I can get a hall pass from my wife, I would love to go
-
What's good to do there? We might drive down the 12 hours.
-
April 4th – April 7th???
Are we going to have our convention in June or July??

The date makes sense. The movie comes out at the end of march and they want to tie into it.

How many people are thinking about making the trip?
I've already had a few side conversations about making the road trip. Rooms are already 35% booked. Me, I'm booking a room tonight with 2 queen beds. I know I'm going. I already booked the time off work. ;)
-
I booked my room too!
Can squeeze four people into one of those rooms if people don't mind sharing beds. Reminds me of when I went to E3 in 2001.
-
Hoping to go if all works out.
-
Man, that's one that goes against me living on the island of Newfoundland....that is like a whole new world. I really wish I could afford such an experience, but i'm super happy for all my joe bro's on here that can go. Represent 8)
-
anybody would like to travel from montreal ?
-
I'm thinking about it but I can't give you an answer yet..it's a 13.5h drive if I remember, right?
-
Yes it is. I'm going to go anyway
-
I have been to 3 convention in the US and would like to go to this one too. I am usually a vendor at the Canadian GI Joe Convention. If any of you are looking for someone to make the trip with you let me know :)
-
Well it's all but confirmed. The logo for 2013 is up and it's the typical convention shield and the Night Force logo blended together.

OG13.com is reporting this as the figure list:
Night Force Joes:
Charbroil
Hit N Run
Muskrat
Physche Out
Repeater
Spearhead with Max
Cobra Demolitions Team:
Mortal(leader)
Lethal
Crimson ASP(new Female character)
Cobra Frag Vipers x 3
Cobra SAW Vipers x 3
there's also some alledged concept art on hisstank, which includes a female-looking figure apparently called 'Freestyle'...
-
Yep. Charbroil's body is made from the new movie Joe Trooper so this means movie parts are in the mix. Hopefully none of the limited legs and arms will be used.

Looks like Lady Jaye will be the MOC Exclusive this year since Mary McDonald-Lewis is one of the guests.

Maybe, maybe not. The past 2 years they had the voice actors for the annual free membership figures. This years it's Iceberg. I was expecting that voice actor. It's a bit a of a let down but hey, I still need her autograph for my DVD box set, so it's all good.
-
Psyche-Out and Repeater!!!! Sweet!!!!
Still holding out hope they'll do a NF Crazylegs...
-
The next few days should be interesting as the sets go on sale and hopefully we'll see the final products. If it's like last year then the sets should sell out fast. I suspect they increased production numbers this year. I just hope that means an increase in attending items.
The interesting part will be to see how they work the movie parts together with the 25th /30th stuff. I've worked with the wave 1 movie parts and aside from the Red Ninja and Joe Trooper a lot of the movie parts are pretty limited to work with. The bodies are OK, legs down right suck.
-
Pics of the first three figures are up.

Not doing it for me so far. :-\

Those colours make his legs look very 80's to me. The boots look they should have leg warmers above them. :o
(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r73/morgardee/FragViper_zps5b0fa02e.jpg)
Frag Viper looks OK. I suspect the parachute trooper body from the movie line. Only thing having me question that is I can't see if he has a collar or not. The parachute figure has one.
Mortal is uber lame. He needs a chrome head. Flat silver looks cheap and lazy.
-
considering the inspiration for Lethal...

i'd say this guy is spot on.
-
You know what would make this set?
Glow-in-the-Dark Cobra Lethal!!!!
-
Charbroil is up:
I hope this is the weakest link in the set. I'm not impressed with the web gear having no paint layers. I get that the original didn't have lots of details either but they could have done something to make it pop.

blue and grey? rubbish.
-
I'm such a sucker for Night Force. I think it looks great!!! Can't wait to see Psyche-Out!!!!
-
Well the next 2 are a great improvement:

-
i'll never be a fan of Psyche Out (seriously, there's plenty of other military specialities they could've done before a psy-ops guy) but that's not bad...
-
The great thing about Psyche-Out is that there's only one Psyche-Out. So many other specialties are doubled-up. But psychological warfare?
He'll &#%@ with your mind, bro.
-
i'd sooner have a helicoper co-pilot for Lift-Ticket in the Tomahawk or a gunner for Heavy Metal in the Mauler or a gunner for Wild Bill in the Dragonfly, a RIO for Ace in the Skystriker, a MARINE aviator - either a helo pilot or a fighter pilot - a Marine Scout/Sniper, a NAVY aviator, a weapons operator to back up Cutter in the WHALE or a Forward Air Controller or...
-
Or a Zombie Elimination Trooper. Need *someone* to fight off the Zombie-Vipers... at night.
-
Crimson ASP looks very nice:
SAW Viper is nice. Not totally sold on it but I think it will grow on me:
-
Oh come on, more grey coloured weapons? The club needs to give this colour a rest.
I like the Joes so far. Saw Viper is just crap to me.
-
what else are they going to use? Neon green?
-
I can see Pete's point. Make the weapons black, like Crimson ASP has. Just look at Charbroil. If his weapons were black then it would help separate the over all look of the figure.
Anyone else notice the "foreign" figures stands are a different colour? They started to do that a few years back.
-
How do you think she lost her eye?
I'm putting my money on Virtual Boy.
-

Before she joined Cobra she was a free lance merc. She's the one who took out Major Bludd's eye. He caught up with her and well, you know how the old saying goes "An eye for an eye".
-
For those interested, the voices of Flint and Lady Jaye will be at JoeCon.

Bwahahahahaha! ;D
-
I thought it was a cool idea for the set, but the figures look terrible.
The Cobras look like a joke. SAW Viper is okay, but the others look like a bad execution of a bad design, with a bad colour scheme slapped on top.
The joes look just okay, but they should look awesome.

totally agree

Psyche-Out was a great character for exposition in the Marvel comics, so he got more panel appearances and lasted later into the series than most 87 Joes. IDW used him really well in the GI Joe Infestation storyline, until they killed him off cause IDW.
-
I'm overall disappointed with this set, especially after the great sets for the two previous years. I feel they could have done way more with the figures to enhance them like some of the Brazil mission characters rather than just try to make copies of the original figures.
I would have rather seen the club put money towards more paint detail than make all new head sculpts.
-
Seeing how I've never been to one of the American cons before, how do they usually do registrations? Do they send an e-mail out to club members first? I got an e-mail the other day saying registration would *not* be happening on Friday, but that seems to be a given.
I'm pretty good about checking my e-mail, but if registration starts at 9:47 pm on a Saturday night I'm probably not going to be in front of my computer. I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is and I reeeeally don't want to miss this set.
-
Also, who wants to bet Crazylegs and Sneak Peek are the souvenir figures? For Sneak Peek just use Grand Slam's body and that new helmet Spearhead and Hit & Run are using and it's close enough.
I heard someone say Night Force Falcon was going to be a subscription figure for year 2.
-
Yes, I understand they said Night Force Falcon was part of wave 2 FSS at last years convention. I can't blame them for that. It's a good way to get people who bought the convention set to buy into the FSS so they can complete the convention sets.
-
so, 2-pack of Joes, 3-pack of Cobras and then the Night Boomer and 'Freestyle' and a smaller vehicle, y'reckon?
-
so, 2-pack of Joes, 3-pack of Cobras and then the Night Boomer and 'Freestyle' and a smaller vehicle, y'reckon?
Pretty much. The 3 pack will be Cobra and all the same figure, just like last year. We got Frag Vipers and Saw Vipers. How about a 3 pack of Laser Vipers. I'd say Heat Viper but that dude is so cool he should be saved for the FSS.
The two Joes will have that female we saw a sketch of and another Night Force Joe. This will be the jem of the set as far as figures go.
Night Boomer is a given. Zero doubt in my mind. It will be uber hot when it comes out but cool off in a few months after the convention.
Mid size vehicle should be a land vehicle. DTC Hiss tank would be a total win for the club but it could be anything. I wouldn't have guessed an Indian Jones jeep and now truck would make it into the Joe universe, but they did. I just wonder how they are going to merge the jungle truck with those huge saw blades some day. ;)
The attending bonus item will be something like the assault glider that came Barrel Roll or Cobra Claw. Something small like that. If they really wanted to wow me they could make it the Firebat in new colours. That thing needs to be done in Cobra blue with red stickers some day.
Don't forget they spoke of glow in the dark stuff. Either stickers for the Night Boomer or something like that is going to glow.
-
Registration is today. Keep yr eyes peeled.
-
And once again the are having server issues. Great.
I won't have access to a laptop now next week until after 5:30 so if it goes live in the day time I'm not going to have much luck. Crap.
-
Okay, *now* registration is open.
-
Okay, *now* registration is open.
Yep. I got mine. ;)
-
So since it's so close to the boarder this year, how many Canadians are making the trip over the boarder this year?
I'm in.
-
So since it's so close to the border this year, how many Canadians are making the trip over the boarder this year?
My plan is to sit in the car with Dave and sing as off-key as possible until he intentionally crashes into a telephone pole, killing us both.

What if the Blind Master jumps in front of the rocket launched at you to save your lives?
-
Scrap Iron'll kill them with the second rocket.
-
Hearing people sing off key and dogging projectiles is a natural for me as rain is on a Sunday afternoon. ;)
-
Anybody heading down to the down to the con and getting the 3 3/4 sets, and wants a BM chrome head for their mortal, come find me. I'll have some for sale/trade.
