G.I. Joe Renegades on DVD
« on: June 08, 2012, 11:31:55 AM »

June 6 G.I. Joe Renegade Season 1 Part 1 came out on DVD.

I picked up my copy for $14.97 at Walmart.

On the cover of the DVD was a $5 off movie coupon for G.I. Joe Retaliation.  I started laughing in the aisle when I saw that.  Not only was the sticker still attached, but you only get $5 off the movie ticket.  The expiration date for the coupon is July 23rd.  I haven't tried redeeming the code yet, but I wonder if the expiration date will be pushed back til April 2013?

I just read on another board that this DVD/Blu-ray isn't suppose to be released in the states until September?

Part 2 on DVD is due in september. The full season on blu ray is coming in september.

Agreed. It's a total money grab. I refuse on princple to buy anything split that way unless it's an insane number of episodes like some of the old cartoon series with 50+ episodes per season.
At least the blu ray is going to be all in one.

I was always under the impression they did it to keep the price point low to attract casual fans and parents.

Well, it’s both. It keeps the price point of the individual item lower than a full season, so mom or dad can buy a $20 item instead of a $30 item, but when you add the parts up the total is way more than what it would be if they sold them all as a single season. It also makes the higher price point of a big box set more attractive in comparison to all those parts. Ultimately it's a marketing tool to make more money.
