Title: Free comic book day in Mtl...today
Post by: latinjoe22 on May 07, 2011, 11:15:18 AM
Hi guys. I have a very good excuse to post this so late:  I don't collect comic books so I rarely go to comic book stores.

I happened to be passing by 1 million Comix today on Pie-IX and Jean Talon (it's in my area), decided to step inside to see what's new, and surprise, free comic book day. Additionally, they also run a 10%-75% comics and toys in store today only. I bought a 25th Nemesis Immortal and Lt. Falcon comic book pack for only 10$ after discount.

I called a few places, and other participants of FCBD today are Capitaine Quebec (downtown) and 1 million comix (downtown). So if you have time, go check it out, and bring along your family too.

Carsley's Comics on the 9th floor of the Drummond Building (1117 Ste-Catherine) had a sale today as well as FCBD: 25% new wall comics, 25% trades, 50% off bin comics.

None of the FCBD offerings were really appealing to me. First year I haven't bothered...
Any good reads?

Nothing really caught my eye, so I just picked up the HeroClix minature, even though I don't care about the character.

Oh yes. There was one called "Baltimore" illustrated by Mike Mignola. I love eerie stories so I picked it up and didn't regret it. Today I was at my In-laws and brought the comic books with me. Gave "Baltimore" to my sister-in-law and she's not really into comics but liked that one story. I actually gave her the Simpsons comic book, and she asked me if I could leave "Baltimore" as well so that she could read it again. So mission accomplished

Yep!  It's Montreal's best-kept secret: http://www.carsleyscomics.com/storeinfo.html (http://www.carsleyscomics.com/storeinfo.html)
