Test Section / Just... trying something.
« on: July 20, 2004, 11:28:11 AM »
Since I can't stand the pink color, I'm altering all this BLUE stuff to a 'reddish' color. This should be the last time this board is changed..... I hope.

Off Topic / Help Nominate Bounty Hunter Toys!
« on: July 14, 2004, 05:15:34 PM »
So last year we (Bounty Hunter Toys) were nominated as one of the best toy stores in Hamilton. It doesn't really mean anything since it's just in the local paper, but it was cool to be nominated, and we did get a HELL of alot of collections in because of it.

Anyway, this year the Spectator (the local paper) is allowing folks to nominate people ONLINE.

So umm???..... Who wants to help?!

I won't lie, I'd LOVE to be nominated for it a 2nd year in a row! We were up against Toys R Us and Walmart - we beat Walmart, but eventually lost out to that damn giraffe. (TRU).

The link to do the nominating is here:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=63175546876

I really don't 'expect' everyone to nominate for us. Heck, I'm sure a few will vote for TRU just to spite us. But even if it wasn't my store, I'd still be rooting for a 'little' guy in the hobby since the big guys obviously don't care about the collector or even support the lines like us little guys try to!
:-)

:shifty:

oops..... got off on a tangent there.... heh heh.

Bottom line, I'd love to be nominated again, and I'm asking for all of your help.
If you click that link above, you'll be required to enter in some of your information, name, mailing addy, phone #, etc. They always give away a prize when the 'official' nominations come out, and since they're allowing anyone - ANYWHERE in the world to participate, you could end up with some extra cash from them just for helping out!
(More money to buy more Joes!)

Please consider it guys, it'll take a few seconds of your time, and it would mean the world to me...... heck, if we make it in, I'll even give my fellow Joes a 'nice' discount on our site! ;-)
Thanks,
Mike

PS - Feel free to repost anywhere! ;-)

PPS - If we're nominated - AND win, maybe it'll wake up Hasbro Canada to actually start sending stuff up here!

TRU: What the? We lost?.... to a small shop?
WM: they have toys - we don't.
TRU: Damn..... gotta start carrying more stuff!

We have 62 members currently, and over half of them have NEVER posted?

Why not?
Are you :chicken: ?

I know why 'some' folks aren't posting that joined here, but what about the rest?

Just curious, I know of a few on the board that 'had' DirecTV.....
If you're without it, or better still - HAVE IT, then shoot me a PM.

I may have some news for you.

This message is going to be deleted soon - for obvious reasons.

Post any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks.

Read the description the guy leaves..... that's the best part!

General Joe Talk / 1st JoeCanuck.com Giveaway!
« on: April 15, 2004, 06:09:30 PM »
Well, since I'm about to start promoting this site more and get folks to 'actually' visit it more than once a week (myself included). We're having a giveaway!

3 basic rules:

1. You MUST be a registered user of the JoeCanuck.com forums.
2. You MUST have at least 10 posts on this board to enter. (Total of 10 by the end of the giveaway).
3. You MUST live in Canada! (Or be willing to pay shipping elsewhere in the world.)

The prize:

Palisades Toys "FLINT" Mini-Bust

Prize donated by BountyHunterToys.com

The prize will be drawn on May 15th, exactly one month from today.
That should give all the 'newbies' time to get their 10 postings by then...

I'm counting on the MODS to make sure these 10 postings are something 'worth' posting. For example, if someone posts a reply (and they are new) saying something along the lines of "I agree"..... or "No"...... something 'boring' like that, then by all means, delete that message and make these 'newbies' earn their prize!

Seriously, this is a chance for us to get some new members and really make a go of this site. So spread the word that we're having our first giveaway!

So how do you enter?

Merely make a reply to this thread saying you're in!

Thanks everyone.........
Mike

PS - Free box of Cyber-:timbits: for the person that can bring the most newbies to the board!

Off Topic / Update on Robbery...... sorta.
« on: April 07, 2004, 04:57:45 PM »
Firstly, if you have no clue what this is about, please read the thread located here :
http://www.snowtroopers.ca/forum/http:/ ... readid=326

Now onto my 'new' post:

I was awoken today by my Mother phoning me at 7am.
She 'HAD' to tell me about an article that was in the paper today.

"Man must repay bank $130,000.00 in fraud case"

Basically, the main suspect in my store being robbed is the 'man' the article is about!
I called the cops handling my robbery today and asked if THIS article was the reason they 'couldn't' arrest him. (Since they had enough on him).
I was told back then that he was already 'involved' in something of a more important nature......

Anyway, the Basic run-around answer after talking to the officer that handled our robbery......... YES.
$130,000.00 CND is a tad more important than my $17,000.00 in toys.

...even I have to agree with that.

Canadian law sucks at times.......

If you're interested in reading the write up on it, a customer was kind enough to scan it and email it to me - so I'm nice enough to post it on my site for others to see.

http://bountyhuntertoys.com/files/04-07 ... pg_a10.jpg

Needless to say, my toys are now 100% gone... but this does cheer me up a tad.

Message Board News / Server for JoeCanuck.
« on: March 02, 2004, 08:18:15 PM »
JoeCanuck.com is getting an average of 500 hits a day... which is baffling me since we only have roughly 50 members.

Mind you.... we have ALOT of lurkers.... post damn you!

I need to get this site off 'my site'.
I have no problems going with Blacksun.ca who my site is hosted with, but does anyone have any other suggestions for reliable server space?
I don't need alot of space.... but I 'would' like at least 100 or so for any 'future' projects.
Email me any ideas you may have (even if you already did - I lost it).
Thanks.
Mike
