Title: Joe Con 2015 set
Post by: Sundance on January 10, 2015, 11:49:29 AM
Rumour is, it's a Tiger Force set, so what does any one expect to see?

Personally, I'm thinking:

Almost certain in main set:
Roadblock
Bazooka
Lifeline
Tripwire
Dusty
Recondo

Highly Likely in main set:
Tunnel Rat
Sneak-Peek
Big Brawler
Stalker

Possible in main set:
Mutt
Crosshair
Beach Head
Wreckage

Plausible but unlikely:
Psyche Out (in 2013's Night Force set)
Outback (in 2014 Eco Force set)
Hit&Run (in 2013 NF set)
Dial Tone (in 2011 SMB set)
Blizzard (jungle skier?)
Alpine
Jinx
Hardtop (just... no.)

Likely in an attendee set:
Skystriker
Frostbite

Not happening:
Duke, Flint, Wild Bill (all released at retail)

Vehicle wise, I suspect three possibilities for the 'big ticket' item: TF Eaglehawk, TF Ghost Hawk II or TF Black Dragon. An outer possibility is a TF Conquest X-30. Smaller vehicles: VAMP mkII modern version (possibly less likely since the same mould was used for the 'Rescue Ops 4x4' last year), Wolfhound (also less likely as it was the basis of the Club's HAVOC mkII), RAM cycle or one of the Arishikage bikes (the RAM seems more likely), Ghost/Sky Hawk, Fangboat as a Tiger Shark II (seems less likely since they used the Moccassin/Sting Raider for 2011's SMB Python Moccassin)

for the enemies, I think maybe Shadow Tracker in a new colour scheme, a bunch of Jungle-Vipers in a new colour scheme and maybe Kangor or Urzor.

mad possibility for para drop: Tiger Force Ripcord...

If i was the club I would only put guys that actually seemed to make sense. Tiger Force should be jungle troopers, rangers .. No snow guys, no air guys. i always thought that was stupid. Possible candidates for me....

Stalker
Gung-ho
Tripwire
Leatherneck
Beachead
Outback
Recondo
Spirit
Footloose
Lt. Falcon
Tunnel Rat
Repeater
Spearhead
Recoil
Ambush
Dart
Cross Hair
Wreckage

Some are better choices then others in my mind

Well, they already did Shipwreck and Airtight from the Brazil exclusives in the subscription thing, so them doing Skystriker as a pilot seems reasonably likely, plus he's unlikely to ever get produced otherwise.

I was mainly looking at the guys in previous TF sets of one type or another.

Personally, I'd probably do:

Stalker
Beach Head
Roadblock
Tunnel Rat
Wreckage
Recondo
Sneak-Peek

and then Skystriker in a TF Conquest. With Leontor and Tigor as a 2-pack.

As others have said, Duke, Flint, Wild Bill, Airtight and Shipwreck have all been done already.

There are so many choices, but personally I would like to see Tunnel Rat, Wreckage (aka Beachhead), Outback, Recondo and Skystriker.

Skystriker would probably come with an aircraft.  Knowing the club and their history I would hazard a guess that there would be a Skyhawk and Ferret repaint in traditional TF colours.

As for cobras, well Hasbro did a pretty great job on jungle themed figures (Jungle Viper, Jungle Bat, Shadow Tracker) that it would be tough.  I guess maybe a jungle themed Tele-Viper, maybe standard Troopers in camo?  There should be at least one "leader", how about Jungle Baroness in a camo bikini?  hahaha

Lots of choices.

Wreckage or Beach Head? Wreckage was the Firefly-repaint. BH was done in Tiger colours back in '04...

If they were smart they would give some of their exclusive figures like Dial Tone the Tiger Force treatment. Maybe make him one of the attending bonus figures. He would look good in Tiger Force colours.

They also have other membership figures and FSS to pick from. Footloose, etc...

Going along that idea although unlikely it would be interesting to see the SDCC Jinx in Tiger Force colours as well as the very underused and overlooked Helix figure.

More than likely it will be a TF set, though I'm more curios to see what Cobras will be included. I've read that perhaps the tiger stripe print relates to night creeper leader's original pant cammo and maybe the set will be Ninja Force. That seems to be grasping at straws though.

The club is sure taking their sweet time revealing anything.

First picture is up. It's Wreckage and it looks pretty nice.

If it keeps up like this I might renew my membership and get this years set. I'll know when I see a few more figures.

I like Wreckage. His paint deco is true to the prototype that was originally intended for his character back in the 80's, until they decided to cancel him from the ARAH line.

Seeing as Wreckage was part of the Toys R Us box set in 2003 it's a safe bet we will see the rest of that box set.

I was pushing for Dial Tone to be re-released. Looks like that might happen.

That would also mean Stalker, Jinx, and everyone's favourite Big Brawler. ;)

The info is out:

Tiger Force (six figures): Sgt. Stalker, Dial-Tone, Big Brawler, Wreckage, Recondo, Edwin ?Lifeline? Steen.

Iron Grenadiers (nine figures): General Mayhem, Metal-Head, Undertow Officer, Iron Anvils x 3, Undertow x 3.

I'm just thrilled Dial-Tone is getting the stripes. I've been asking them for that for a while now.:)

Iron Grenadiers AGAIN?!

At least it's different members. Besides, there have been a lot of really good custom Metal Heads made so there is a demand for it.

yeah, but that's twice in three years and three times in the time they've been doing these sets they've gone to this well.

I suppose that's the crux of it isn't it? ME Mayhem, Metal Head, Undertow and Iron Anvils, like the 2009 ME redo of the Crimson Strike Team...

So far no new tooling on the figures. Maybe most of the tooling budget went to Metal Head?
I think possibly a new head for Big Brawler, Iron Anvil, and General Mayhem. Though they could use Gnaw's head with Voltar's helmet for Mayhem I guess.

I have to say that I really like the reveals so far.

I've always had a soft spot for TF and IG, but the reveals so far show some nice quality and design choices.  In my opinion of course.

I also like that they created another level for Undertow and a traditional IG design for the figure.  It is great to add another character to the IG ranks even though I won't be getting this set.

And now TF Lifeline.

Great job!!!!!  Excellent paint scheme and I love all the accessories!!!!

Keep em coming FP, I like what I see so far.  Too bad I'll have to wait and see for the vehicles.

I'm actually enjoying the TF offerings in this set, waaay out of my price point but.... nice set so far.

Big Brawler is now posted.

Like it a lot.  Looks just like I had hoped.  Always good to have a large sized character.

Although stop being a tease FP and post Metalhead already!!!!!  That's really who is left that everybody wants to see now.

Of course I would like to see the vehicles, but the only real preview will be when some Chinese seller on Ebay lists never before seen vehicles in the next little while.

I will be going to Springfield

Not going, but I haven't gone in years.

The last one I went to was in Kansas City (09?).  Just can't justify it anymore with costs and lack of interest in Joe right now.

Man we need a new show and toy line soon.

So Stalker is up:

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=24356 (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=24356)

I have to say that I love it!!!!

Great look, great accessories.

Now while I love the look of the new head sculpt and the removable beret, I am a little puzzled as to why they chose to spend their limited dollars on a new head for Stalker.  Granted there is a new head for Iron Anvil, and presumably one for Metal Head, but I guess I should just be happy with the choice and not nitpick something so small.

Oh and glad to see they are going to make us wait until the very end to see Metal Head (jerks...hahahaha)

why the hell is Stalker carrying an M2? He's a bleeding Ranger! (or more likely a Green Beret...)

I saw someone say that on another site.  I'm not a big weapons guy so, what is the difference?

well, he's a commando  infantryman, not a heavy machine-gunner. it is Roadblock's signature weapon, after all...

That Stalker is sweet.

Metal Head has been revealed.  Not bad.

As for going to the convention...I have no urge to go, considered how i was treated as a second class citizen the last time I went because I didn't register.  Also, mega phone needs to move it back to summer.

Not going, it's just too damn expensive. Not even getting a set this year because it'll cost around $500 for the set after exchange rate and customs and that's not even including shipping. Plus other than lifeline, wreckage and recondo, the rest are too lacklustre to me and I was actually excited for this set. Other than the headsculpt on metalhead, I find him meh at best.

Agreed.  If you add up all the costs (convention set, extra figures and vehicles, hotel, meals, travel by car (or flight), customs, exchange rate), I wouldn't be shock if you dropped close to $1500 to go.

Yeah the costs have gone up and up, and the days of getting back your money by selling your sets, extras, whatever are over.  Even if you sold all your exclusives after the show you would be lucky to cover 50%.

As an aside.  I really like the look of Metal Head.  It's a shame they had to use the missile pack from POC Duke, but that was all but expected.

I am a little worried though.  It is basically a month until the show and three of the figures revealed are Photoshop mock ups.  They should already have samples in hand to show off.  I wonder how they are doing with the port slowdowns on the west coast?  It would be a really bad deal if they weren't able to provide product at the show.

I like some of the figures but the price is too high.  I would only consider getting a set if I split the cost with someone else.

And why is it every year it's the same thing with the Club's convention registration not being ready early or on time for that matter and they always blame it on the programers because they wanted to make registering better.  The way they could actually make it better is not charge a fee for registering on line especially when that is the only way you can register.

CAD=$500 for the set. $800 for flight (cheapest to Springfield and 12hrs). $1150 for room (5 nights). plus food, plus cab, plus extras (if there are any left), plus tips, etc. Realistically it's closer to $3500-$5000 Canadian for me. Almost forgot the $200 fuel to get to the airport and back plus parking fees.

So..... nope. not worth it. Ordered a lifeline. might order a recondo. Save the cash for sideshow joes! :)

Where did you order Lifeline and what's he cost?

After looking at the math on this again and seeing how much the second hand market is already flooded with pre-orders for loose figures I think I might pass on this.

Box set = $375.
Bag Set = $ 225.
Total = $600
Exchange rate today = $761.93
Divided by 30 = $25.40

Not included was shipping costs and possible taxes. So you can probably round that up to about $30 per figure (CND).

If you sell on Ebay you will be charged for the item and the shipping costs. Shipping on eBay you should ship with tacking (I've been burned before by buyers who refused it and then filed against me and got their money back so I always ship with tracking).

So to sell 1 figure and not loose money you would have to charge around $48 Canadian per figure total cost. The army builders aren't that great.

I'm not sure it's worth it.

I'll probably wait for the club to have another clearance sale and buy the box set for $250 or something like that in 2 years time.
