Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / 2012 Canadian GIJoe comic preview
« on: July 24, 2012, 11:49:14 AM »
Hi everyone,

Now that Joe Canuck is revealed as part of this year's convention set, here's a preview of this year's comic. It's the calm before the storm.
http://twitter.com/#!/Rebel_Loo/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2FFFBYZrNL

Another page will be posted later today.
I'll be selling the original comic pages from this year's comic at this year's convention; a few as low as $60.

Stay tuned....

-Jason

Customs / The Rock - WIP
« on: February 28, 2006, 01:01:25 AM »
Hey fellow canuckleheads,

Here's another attempt at the Rock. This turned out more successful than the last one which has been given away to a friend. I have this habit of redoing things I'm really not proud of, than giving away the prototypes at the end. Which reminds me, I still have three or four Loop heads that are buried somewhere with my Joe parts.
Well, here's what I got so far of the Rock. I'm thinking of sculpting him a vest military jacket with a fur collar.

Maybe a Roddy Piper isn't far behind, no?
Can you smell what Loop is cooking?

General Joe Talk / Dio props to consider (lots of pics)
« on: November 01, 2005, 02:54:04 PM »
Something I also posted on Joecustoms, but would want to share with my fellow canuckers.
For a while now, I've been collecting things here and there that are to scale with GIJoes. Here's some pics of things I collected that I'd like to share with y'all.

Rement is this Japanese candy toy company that makes tons of great miniature food products such as sushi, hamburgers, fruits and vegetables, and tons more. It'll be simple to say they have a large catalogue. They also have a furniture set series as seen below. Rement products can be found at jbox.com and asian food markets in the candy section. Toy and candy stores in Pacific Mall and First Markham Place are the only places I know in Ontario that sells these products at decent prices ($5-8 a set).
This is the Japanese-traditional set.

The fish dish is from the Journey of Sake Sellar set.

Sushi rolls set is from the Puchi sample series.

The Northern European set. Notice the iBook.

The couch and record are from a retro-style set. The name of the set escapes me.

I will openly admit that Lil Bratz clothes and accessories work well with GIJoes. Their clothes look cool on most of my female gashapon figures. Wal-Mart was selling their Lil Bratz fashion mall for $15. I replaced their Bratz sticker designs and made my own to give the mall a euro-boutique setting.

The bar accessories are from Rement's Bar Times set, which is one of my faves because of the 1:18 scale Jack Daniels, Corona, and Smirnoff bottles. The bar stand is another highlight of the set.

While I was in Germany, I noticed they have a huge interest in model trains. Half of their toy stores are filled with trains and train accesssories. The brick and tile patterns and the tunnel wall make great additions to 1:18 dios.

The diner tables and chairs are from the Bar Times set. The sub sandwich and others are also products done by Rement.

The female figures are frankenstein gashapon figures by Kaiyodo and Bandai.

Ontario / DTC wave 2 @Silver Snail
« on: October 18, 2005, 12:17:02 PM »
Yup. Silver Snail has DTC wave 2 figures for $5.99. They have everyone except for Major Bludd. I picked up four Range Vipers and two Barrel Rolls. There's still loads of army builders left, besides Footloose.

I've been wondering about this figure...I heard it was suppose to be a chase figure in the last series, but I guess it's too big for one box that it has to be split into parts....yes, the Alien Queen!

I will definitely get myself a case to make that Alien Queen.

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Rough idea on Dio-story script
« on: April 15, 2005, 12:46:31 PM »
After gathering some of the ideas, I have come up with a very basic outline of the plot in Joe Canuck: the Movie. I didn't want to make things too specific/detailed, so there will be some creativity and fun left during the shooting of the dio-story at the Meet. Your input is welcome!

-Duke informs team Joe Canuck of leads to suspicious corporate fundings for a top project related to Cobra.
-An Joe Canuck espionage team (Redmao, Metro, Agent Loop) is sent to one of the company branches to investigate further on Cobra's plans. The team is later caught right after capturing vital information, then gets into a crossfire with Alley Vipers. Before the team gets rescued by Jon S and the NAC, an Alley Viper plants a tracking device on one of the Canucks.
-Back in the JCHQ, Canuck team work with the retrieved information in the command room.
-feeling that JC knows too much about project Mass Device mark II, Cobra strikes an all-out attack on the JCHQ to try and shut their operations down. However, JC eventually overpowers the Cobra forces, thus retreating, but leaves JC HQ with only half a motor pool.
-Fortunately, the vital project plans are still in JC hands, so Field Commander BH Mike decides to take immediate action and splits the JC team into three: recon team is sent to the crystal mine and learn more about the special fuel that powers the MD mkII, only to encounter Demolisher and Toxo Vipers (or Heavy Waters, Arctic,); an Infiltration team is sent into the secret Cobra arctic base to shut down the MD mkII; the third team is waiting several miles away from the Cobra base, providing communication (from Radio Guy) and instructions for the two field teams before their big attack on the Cobra base.
-The end, of course, is when the Cobra base gets demolished with a big bang.

It may seem like a simple plot, but considering the limited time some people have at the Meet, it should only take a minimum of a couple hours to shoot it.

If two digital cameras are present, we can take the advantage of shooting multiple shoots, like when the team splits into three groups.

Off Topic / surviving...

Man...I don't know how to start this thread, but to say that last week I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and I'll be going in for surgery tomorrow.
I've been thinking positive about it and am pretty much prepared. I hope to make a very speedy recovery so I can gurran-damn-tee that I will make it to the Joe Meet on the 23rd...besides, the doctor said it'll only take a few days to recover. Just pray for me that this cancer hasn't spread. :|
