General Joe Talk / Re: What is your Holy Grail??
« on: March 26, 2011, 12:03:07 PM »
I know these are very common on U.S cards (Snakes is an 11 back), but being Canadian I want what was on the shelf when I was little and these are very scarce Canadian examples!

Ontario / Re: Michaelangelo's Toy Show March 20th
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:00:22 PM »
I've set up at the Michaelangelo show 3 or 4 times before and as far as action figures go, this one is worth skipping.  Lot's of Hot Wheels (as always), but more than anything it's sports cards.  Check it out if you live on the Mountain, but I live downtown and it's just not worth the gas IMO!

General Joe Talk / Re: What was your favorite G.I. Joe christmas present?
« on: December 05, 2010, 12:16:17 PM »
I was 13 in 86, unfortunately the last year I got toys for Christmas  >:(so I remember it well.
I gave my mom a list of vehicles I'd love, and she got me the Conquest, Triple T and the Stun.  Spent the next 2 days putting them together but have no pics from that year.  Now with my 2 kids, we videotape and take pictures of EVERYTHING they get.  Would sure like to have those memories on film!

Off Topic / Re: Sears Christmas Wish Book 2010
« on: August 19, 2010, 10:14:48 AM »
Actually (and very sadly I'll add), Walmart sells more toys worldwide than anyone, almost 2 to 1 to Toys R Us (who are hurting very, very badly).  Walmart has no competition for toys.
I remember the old days (mid-80's), when the Sears and Eaton's catalogs were actually important to me and my friends.  I'd argue they're really only important to the elderly today.
Sad, sad, sad, but such is life!

I'd have to say Destro.  I still remember the first time I ever saw him on the pegs and was just blown away.  For a long time (until I saw it in the comic), I thought that it was actually his head that was silver, but the degree of coolness to Destro still hasn't changed for me.  My favorite character for sure!

General Joe Talk / Re: Filecard Storage?
« on: August 08, 2010, 03:25:44 PM »
I'm a little more old fashioned and prefer not to touch my filecards (being the Mint freak that I am :lol:), so I keep mine in photo albums.  It's nice and easy for me as well, considering I collect both Canadian and U.S, take a look;

I also use those hard plastic holders for the more valuable cards;

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Re: Post your Con haul!
« on: August 08, 2010, 01:42:10 PM »
I did get alot of what I wanted, but just like last Cons, there still wasn'tt that hard to find stuff that everybody needs.  I guess it's just too easy to sell that stuff on ebay.  I was looking for a complete Create a Cobra, Gold Steel Brigade and a Rumbler, just wanted to get mint ones (and not deal with ebay), but besides one beat up Rumbler, struck out on the others.
I did manage to land;
About 25 weapons and parts I needed
Around 20 file cards I needed
The Con Set
About 6 original 80's comics
Some really cheap 25th (5 foil cards for $20, $4 each).

Great show, had a good time, will be back next year regardless of where it's held!

Items Wanted / Re: Some stuff I'm looking for at the show
« on: July 06, 2010, 03:36:14 PM »
I figure I'd put up my wants as well, I'll be set up there but my main focus at Joe Con is always to get things I need!

File Cards:
These really must be mint, no interest in creases, poor cuts or damage, and I'm happy to pay more than $1 for most of these, I'm not cheap, I just want MINT stuff.
82 HAWK Canadian
83 Viper Pilot Canadian
83 Ripcord Canadian
Also looking for MINT copies of the CANADIAN file cards of Scarlett, Steeler, Snow Job and Grunt that list them as AMERICANS, NOT Canadians.
84 Wild Weasel Canadian
I also need alot of grey 85's, I'll bring my book, you bring your doubles.
85 Keel Haul (both U.S and Canadian)
Also looking for uncut blank and red backs (mail aways), and lots of early 90's.  My list would be too extensive, just bring what you have.

Figures needed with accessories; (again, looking for 9+ or better for condition with tight joints)
Swivel Scarlett
Sw Breaker
Sw Grand Slam
Straight Commander
Duke MAIL AWAY with the unused U.S flag sticker
Gung Ho
Torpedo
Roadblock Ver 1
Keel Haul
Wetsuit
Thrasher
Outback
Sneak Peek
Most of the Night Force

Figures ONLY needed, again C-9+ shape (I have the accessories for these);
Tripwire
Airborne
Frostbite
Slaughter from Marauders
Crazylegs
Worms
Repeater
Voltar
Road Pig
Gnawgahyde
Sci-Fi Ver 2

I hope there will be a few guys this year with alot of high grade stuff.  If you've got it bring it because I'd really like to at least finish up to about 1987.

All Across Canada / Re: Wave 3 Alphas now at WINNERS!!!

Just remember guys at last years Joe Con most of these figures were $5 each (which is cheaper than retail), and I'm thinking this year they just might be cheaper!

My personal opinion is Niagara Falls is too far for most, as the majority of people who come to the meet are from the GTA.  I now live in Hamilton (formerly Toronto), and honestly driving to Niagara Falls is a pain in the arse.  Just like when I lived in Toronto I didn't want to drive to Hamilton for the Joe meets (which I now regret), I don't (and I know others who agree with me), want to drive to Niagara Falls.  Essentially 80% of the people who came to this years meet would have a further drive, just doesn't make sense.
And just to add, my wife works at the government building downtown Hamilton and she sometimes takes the van--she pays $3 to park during the week during the day.  I know I've gone to at least 2 shows in Toronto where parking was at least $10 so I guess what I'm saying is I'd MUCH rather the show be in Niagara Falls than Toronto (this started as a Hamilton show Mike, you shouldn't fiddle with it too much).  Just my opinion of course, I thought the show was terrific this year and wouldn't change a thing.

My first post here (although I've been lurking ever since I knew I was going to set up there).
Thanks so much Mike, the show was amazing and I had a great time!  I can't believe all the great stuff available, I honestly wish I wasn't set up because I missed on so much I would have bought had I not had to man my table (although I will no doubt set up again next year).  There was just so much good stuff there and so many people just happy to be there--it totally sounds corny, but that's how I felt the buyers there felt.  I've set up at so many shows where the dealers just can't wait to start packing up, but I was doing so much buying and trading I wanted the day to go on and on.
Anyways, I'm rambling, glad to be here, great seeing alot of you again as well.
