BHT former shelves: WIP
« on: September 06, 2006, 02:26:36 PM »

With the crappy weather over the past long weekend, I stayed home instead of making the trip to a buddy's cottage.  The cold weather, the rain, listening to babies cry all day is not my idea of fun.  So I made an effort to revive the old BHT shelf that held Mike's expensive figures and vehicles.

So far:

This is a still a WIP.  I am going to add another shelf to the bottom case to have at least three shelves.  I already added one to the top one.  The vehicles in the bottom case were removed from older display case and are temporary stored there for now.

And I know Mike wanted to see my old army builders in the case.  The ones depicted in there are the ones I have picked up in the past month or so mostly from Mike. My problem is that some of the guys come with some goofy large weapons and hoses, which does eat up available shelf space.  I have to re-think which ones will go in.

The other problem that I have is that window is located in this area and afternoon light angles in here.  So I have to find away to defect the light for now.  I have a couple of ideas.  If anybody else has a suggestion, I won't mind hearing it.

Sweet whistling cheeses. That is awesome.

You're right, the "specialty" troops don't seem to work there, given the awesome upper ranks above them. Maybe you can use that shelf as a dio? You could have the whole night watch brigade attacking the whale, supported by a few of the specialty troops.

And damn that is a lot of CG's and blueshirts. Do you have a final count?

Also, the filecard backings are fantastic, but you're short two.

The Whale will be moved in the bottom case after I re-arrange the vehicles.   The bottom shelf I have plans for the Vipers.   Plus I am going to put vintage CG and blue shirts with the new ones once I get enough figure stands to ruin (i.e. shave down the peg).  I did it for the two Vipers in there.  But my vintage army builders are small in comparison.

As for numbers, 10 guys per row. So 425 Cobra Infantry Troopers/officers (Infantry 6 packs x 48, Night Watch x 20, Comic packs X 37), and 331 CG (276 red, 61 black).

I am still pondering on whether to place the Terror Drome onto the display and moved the TFs.  I could set up a dio there.  But I like the set up there.

I printed those off from here http://www.joebattlelines.com/m6d/index.html Like I have time to do something on this scale.  Plus, if you remembered the shelves in the store they had nothing on the back of the.  So bought plastic cardboard to patch up the back of the cases.  White is so boring.  hence I decided to add the great art work from the line.  The guys that have made the cut so far are Mutt, Shipwreck, Snowjob, Snake Eyes v2, Zartan, Buzzer, Ripper, Torch, Cobra Officer, Cobra Solider, Storm Shadow and Firefly.

I have room for at least 18 more backing to be glued in there.  Ripcord will make the cut as that is great action shot.  As for Raptor, don't see him making the cut.  Too many other good ones in front of him that I prefer.

I'm a big Ripcord fan. ;-)

Don't forget to put Bazooka and Alpine together. My personal fave card art is  Quick Kick...

It really looks great. Brings a tear to my eye.

Now I know why I had such a hard time tracking down a cobra infantry 6 pack.  Impressive.

So much red. So much blue.

Very impressive army, Pete. But I especially like the oddities in the display. The penguin commandos perched like gargoyles. All the Astro-Vipers but only a couple infantry Vipers. Looks great.

This is all just jaw-dropping! Have you ever thought about busting them out of their display of order and just have fun playing around with them?

The collection is truly impressive...

but to be honest... I'd prefer to see an action dio. With a case of that size, you could set up some vehicles and do a really awesome battle scene.
