Title: 2007 Convention Package for 3 3/4 figs
Post by: martin-montreal on July 09, 2007, 08:19:16 AM
Hello,

I'm new here. You probally already know about the 2007 Convention Package for 3 3/4 figs that Hasbro is producing for the September convention.

Does someone have a preview picture of the real figs (not the drawing art)? The 2007 convention package look really great but sometime there is a big difference between Hasbro drawing and the reality...

Preview the Art box: http://www.mastercollector.com/neat/gij ... review.cfm (http://www.mastercollector.com/neat/gijoe/atlanta/RAHpreview.cfm)

Do you plan buying this package? Here is some information to think of:

The Homefront Hero?s Package ($268 for Club Officer level members and $318 for others) consists of:
? Boxed set of figures from the American Hero?s Package
? Does not include admittance to the show or Name Badge
? All items shipped three to four weeks after the show to your home.
? This package is for those who cannot attend the show.
? If you order this package before September 21, 2007, shipping will be FREE!

And also...
? 400 Homefront Heroes (provided that you are an Officer level member of the Club) have the opportunity to purchase a second set of 3 3/4? Tanks for the Memories! figures (no box, certificate, etc) for $134. This is limited to one extra set per American Hero?s or Homefront Hero?s package purchased.

Any Officer level member of the Club interested in sharing this buying?  ;D

Thanks.

Martin
I also speak French.

Normally the Club previews the figures one at a time for a couple of weeks. Last year they also previewed the three pack that would be available to attendees, but that was an exception. One thing you don't have to worry about is how the figures compare to the art. The Club has done a great job translating the three dimensional figures into two dimensional box art.

Welcome to the board, by the way. How'd you find us?

I found you on eBay : http://stores.ebay.ca/HJL-Collectables (http://stores.ebay.ca/HJL-Collectables)

I'm looking for few figs to complete my collection (if to complete a collection is possible) and I want to sell some others. I will post in the appropriate forum when I will have more time.

I liked your joke when we are new and the default sentence below our profile shows: "I smell funny and new". I changed it fast!!

Thanks.

Martin

Speaking of the con figures, I've been over on the MC boards and the word is they are thinking of selling the Cobra female 6 pack in blue at a later date. I'm suggesting to them that they sell them loose in bags (no box) and try to keep the cost down to the $30.00 area for a six pack. I've suggested that if the price is low enough then they should make a lot of money in sheer volume and it might help the membership drive. They have confirmed they are thinking about the Cobra women 6 pack but no comment on bags vs box or cost yet.

Still, it's good news to hear that might be coming as an option.

I do and don't like this idea.

I do like the idea of being able to army build a cool trooper.

I don't like the idea of making the con figs mass produced at a low price point, because then it in essence screws the people who are paying big bucks for the con set.

I'd say release the female troopers at a lower price point, bagged like you said - but alter the paint scheme in some way to differentiate them from the actual convention ones.

They are in a different colour. I don't think the Con figures are blue.

Quote
a troop builder set of the female "blue shirts" is a pending option.

Considering Lane skipped around my question regards to the colour, they will be black.  This will confirmed in an hour when the first figure will be posted.

Edit: The first figure has been posted.  The Cobra soldier female is black.

I like the new female trooper. Sure the torso sort of looks JvC ish to me, but meh, it's still cool. I want a set or two.

I really hope that they can reuse this mold later on in a bagged 6 pack in blue and not black. I'd like to see an army of these girls.

Another thought here. If the MC group has started to make their own molds then this really opens up the gates to what they can produce in the future. I think for it to make money for them it would have to be army builders so everyone buys more than one, but it's still a really cool thought.

They look awesome! And there is one for every type: Blond, red and brunette!! But, I'm not sure about their helmet... look too much "Spaceball" to me.

Can someone explain it to me... we have 8 joes name:  1. Sgt. Clutch, 2. Doc (female), 3. Sgt. Flash, 4. Grunt, 5. Rock ?N Roll, 6. Sparks, 7. Sgt. Zap, 8. Lt. Claymore. But only 7 are pictured on the box.

Also, the description says: COBRA Officer (female) & COBRA Trooper (female). But there is a Cobra man in the picture (or "she" not shaved for awhile...).

Can someone buy me a set?

Martin

That's Lt Claymore.

This isn't the Claymore from the Brazil set, rather the Lt. Claymore from a comic issue, I believe. A cobra officer.

Joes:

Sgt. Clutch
Doc (female)
Sgt. Flash
Grunt
Rock ?N Roll
Sparks
Sgt. Zap

Cobras

Lt. Claymore
COBRA Officer (female)
COBRA Trooper (female) x6

That's the 15 figure set.

As I expected, the same figure with silver accents instead of red.

At least you can swap the head off the officer (if you have a double) with a soldier and you get four different looks.

And I think I am just going to post my comments here from now on.  I am sick and tired of the yearly whine about MC figures on certain message boards.   The revealing backs are offensive to some?  You have to be kidding me.  Look at Zarana.  She has just as much skin exposed and she is butch of a figure.  Plus they are F@*&^ing toys, not real uniforms.  Cover the back of figure with a backpack for all I care. I bet some some would rather be happy if they made a Brawler figure in a thong instead.

I agree with you on both points. In fact, while I know most people didn't like the dreadheads, I did and I swapped the heads on my second set just to increase their numbers.

As for the whole exposed back thing, I just posted my thoughts about them on another board but I thought it was funny, so I post it here as well. My take on the whole exposed back and how it relates to the battle field. It's just like a mullet, all business up front and a party in the back.

THey're toys for crying out loud and they are aimed for the collectors.
Its not like they were selling them on the pegs for some soccer mom to see and bitch about lol. Exposed back, it adds an extra edge to the figures. Its not pratical on the field, but it looks cool.

I wish on the 12" side we had cooler pictures. All we have for now is diving gear.
I want to see the figures!

(side note: I want to thank the people who posted on the club's board about the online newsletter's eventual deletion)

Close. He was in an two-part episode of the cartoon, The Traitor. Dusty joins Cobra, and Claymore gives him a hard time for the special treatment CC's giving him. They eventually fight in a pit slowly filling with piranah invested water. Dusty wins and later saves Claymore because he's still a good guy. Claymore saves Cobra Commander later in that episode. So you could say it's Dusty's fault Cobra is still around.

That Stalker mold was always one of my favorites but this one is just OK for me. Not amazing but not bad either. Sad part is I've been working with those pieces for some of my own customs and red rit dye so my stuff doesn't look that different then what they have, minus the head difference.

I like that they went a different direction with Rock n Roll. As a rule I usually don't mix brown and grey, but it kind of works here.

Nice new head sculpt, and I'm LOVING the colours on the re-used comic pack Lady Jaye body. Makes the whole mold "pop" in terms of detail. Very nice.

The head sculpt is great. I wish the figure had another name besides Doc.  This isn't the Doc I grew up with (and I could care less what happened in the comic as that is cannon fodder).

Looking at the filecards,

the Night Stalkers Shock Troop filecard makes reference to Lt. Claymoore.   So this a totally different character created by the Steel Brigade boys.

Doc's makes reference to a Medevac medical transport vehicle.

VERY cool, although I don't like how his boots are half green half black. I imagine they were going for the "pants over the boots" idea, but it doesn't work here IMHO

* even though they had 15 F@*&^ing months to pull this off, the Maulers were not ready due to production delays.  Whatever.  Just add this to a long list of incompetence.  So the Mauler will be shipped to Americans for free, an extra 25 bucks for Canadians and an extra 35 bucks to the rest of the world.  So becuase of MC F@*&^ up, we are paying the price for this.  Seriously, do they want my business or what.

I have a spot on one of my shelves that specifically needs a jet pack trooper to be complete. I considered splitting a JUMP two-pack with someone and just keep the Starduster, a character I don't own a figure of yet. But over twenty dollars for a single figure with a bland paint scheme? I probably wouldn't even use the fire stream that's likely why the set is extra expensive. Too bad, everything about the figure would have worked except the price.

Why not customize?

Pick up an old jetpack, and the firestream from Boba Fett - that's where it came from in the first place. ;-)

I enjoy the challenge of customizing, but for the most part I prefer my figures on display be authentic.

Then do a good job of the customizing...

To be honest, Starduster is somewhat cool unremarkable. Downtown with Tundra stalker arms. They've painted his hair so he looks like Moe from the three stooges.

The grand slam is pretty freakin awesome, and a good use of the CP Fred head.

Also, the Jump is made out of plastic that's so easily broken, you get stress marks just from putting it on his arm. I expect at least one of the two guns got broken in transit.

Something to keep in mind.

All of the recent MC vehicles have that cheap plastic feel.
