I just wish he didn't come with a purse.

The Russian guy from my 3 3/4 Indiana Jones crystal skull series has just found a new home!

I dig the box art. It reminds me of Fallout.

I agree, the box looks very good. Might have to spring for a box set this year.  Every figure looks pretty nice so far although the arms on stormavik look a bit odd.

So is there any way to actually get a set without going to the con and resorting to the secondary market? I have never been remotely interested in a con set before but the oktober guard is too significant to ignore.

I can't believe hasbro gave the okay for these guys to be in a con exclusive set. Tells me hasbro basically has little to no faith in bringing any more modernized classic figures to regular retail.

ask someone who's going to buy you one. that or wait and see if they have any left. if you go the first option, try finding someone who'd rather get a bagged set and then you get the boxed, they get the bagged and everyone's happy.

just my opinion

I would hazard a guess that after the Indiana Jones flop Hasbro is a little gun shy about retail releases of more "generic" looking soldiers.  While we all love the October Guard, I believe most of these would peg warm at retail because they just arent going to grab kids attention.

Also, you can join the club and order a set to be mailed to you without having to attend.

Personally I have started to do the "calculations" more and more when buying exclusives.  What is the cost, plus travel, lodging, food, etc.  I used to go and get enough to sell the extras to cover costs, but now I find too many times the location is a repeat of a previous year I went and I would rather put the money to other trips like Thailand and Cambodia last month.

So how much is the Oktober Guard Set if you attend the convention?
Im not attending but Im looking to see what options there are for getting one.  Its such a great set so far.
Im looking into joining the GI Joe club, but the Canadian price is $66 for membership.  But if you join up with them, are you guaranteed that the set will be available online?

The other option is to wait until they hit ebay, and by then its going to be in the upper hundreds.

couple hundred bucks for a boxed set usually. you can only buy the cheaper bagged set when you buy a boxed one. (*coughripoff*cough*)

no, you're not. i think they usually have at least a few sets left, but it's not guarenteed.

Is anybody here making the trip down to New Orleans for the convention?

Oh no. I can deal with most of this figure except for those awful legs. I won't want to army build this one at all:
