we all collect joes but in your collection how many of your joes are actually your childhood ones.
I'm 25 and I moved a few time some throughout the years many of my joes broke or got lost. Of all the joes I got over the time only about a dozen are joes from my chilhood (plus they are in real good shape). Sure today I bought the characters I had as a kid, but somehow its not quite the same thats why the original team (those I used to play with) are on a special shelf.
how about you?
-
Well, most of the Joes I had when I was a kid are now worn out. I have around half a dozen still with me that are in good shape. Most of my old stuff have been sent in Mike's $2 bin
-
I probbaly have only a quarter of the figures from my kid days. Most of them were beat up and broken. I just replaced them and got rid of the busted ones.
-
I think probably close to 20 or so figures are ones I had back about 20 years ago. Not many original vehicles though...only one or two.
-
Stuff my later years mostly survived. But the stuff from the beginning, has not. Figures were traded, figures were taken apart and rebuilt at early attempts at LBC customizing, vehicles were sold at a local second hand toy store. I still regret selling several of my vehicles when I was saving up for the Battle Wagon...yup, I said Battle Wagon. I was a dumb kid eh? The BW was the last vehicle I ever bought too. :|

None :(
Everything I had as a kid went to the dumpster. All my joes, he-man, original star wars, transformers, and a whole bunch of other figs. I had tons of each. It hurts a little every time I think about it.
-
yeah it hurts...
-
Some are in pieces (never got around to replacing o-rings) and quite are few are in rough shape, but ALL my figures are my originals.
-
I'm thinking around 10. Maybe a few more with knees too loose to stand on. By the midninties, anytime an elastic broke or a thumb came off it was devastating. I didn't think I'd ever be able to replace those Joes.
-
More of my Vehicles survived my childhood than figures.
I probably have about thirty figures from when i was a kid.. and pretty much all of my vehicles from that time. Mind you I have rebuilt a couple of them so they look a little nicer.. but original parts from my childhood reside on the new shells .

Sadly, most of my collection is from my teenage years and beyond. Most of my older toys have broken crotches etc etc etc
My stuff between 1990 and 1994 is in really good shape tho.

Some of my old Joes survived, along with most veichles. Thankfully my parents had a huge attic where I could keep my stuff, even after I moved out.
But I replenished my Joes when I discovered BH Toys!
Still have a ways to go, but I am getting the collection going good...

I have over time replaced several slightly broken ones with better-conditioned figures, but only 5 of my actual childhood Joes were lost or totally destroyed. When I get a replacement figure, I take each individual part and compare it, making sure to frankenstein together the most pristine possible specimen. Man I'm a nerd....
Overall, I think I've only replaced about 25, and my Joe collection is about 650 *different* figures. I don't army build or have duplicates of anything. I'm weird like that. I was also very attentive to my toys' condition as a kid, since my brother always made sure I played nice as his Joes were often involved. :D So I have him to thank for the condition of my toys from younger days.

One. An '86 Sci-Fi.
When I first starting collecting, I took a lot of the Joes I had when I was a kid and matched them up with their weapons. Then I bought and bought and bought. This is what I like to call the "First Collection." I had a great collection, but the ex-fiancee thought it was "unhealthy" or whatever. So I sold them.
After we kicked each other to the curb, I realized how much of a drain on assets she was when I had all this extra cash in the bank. So I started again with the 2000-2001 ARAH stuff. Now I'm pretty picky about what I want/buy.
Anyways, when I sold the first collection, I tossed aside an ugly bitch of what used to be a Sci-Fi. He was the first Joe I remember having, so he was the only one I kept.

Wow, I can say only one survived and it was my Tiger Force Duke figure. Now that I look back at it, I really don't like it anymore.
Although, my brother still has his Mobat, but not Steeler.
-
there were only two things I had when I was a kid that didn't survive. My original Mobat and Dragonfly. I played with them till they were dust. Everything else is a proud part of my collection.
