General Joe Talk / Re: Thoughts on Classified and Retro lines?
« on: May 10, 2022, 10:38:55 AM »
Got a nice little surprise yesterday.

My preorder for the Classified Cobra Officer came in early.  So I was able to get him, and while I haven't had a chance to open him yet, he does look great.  My only little quibble, so far, is that the silver on his Cobra Logo is a bit mute and doesn't show as well as I would like.  I would have preferred a bright silver, but as I said a minor quibble.

Nice. I couldn't justify the price so I passed on this one. Would love to somehow see an actual picture of this. I'll just wait for youtube videos to be uploaded in the coming days.

I really like almost everything shown. Even though I'm not collecting classified, i am getting tired of SE and SS. haha
Hasbro is doing a pretty good job right now on that line.

I thought it might be cool to add an additional head to the cg's package or even pair a plains civilian figure with the cg as an alternate to his uniform look (2-pack). I really liked that aspect in the comic of the cg being your neighbours, lawyers, politicians etc.  Plus for dioramas they could double as normal citizens. (I can't believe I  would want a boring normal life action figure )

That Zarana is really nice. Dusty too
Sgt Slaughter looks good but his arms seemed a tad to short in the render....not sure. Something is just a little off but I can't quite place it. I think it looks better then the valaverse one, but Hasbro are trying to make a younger look close to the original look, so that's not a fair comparison. I've never been a huge fan of him as joe. These are already supposed to be the most elite trained soldiers. so... meh.

That Recondo looks great. Especially his head sculpt. the way they posed him holding the brim is a nice touch.

After this release Hasbro needs to move on from the ninjas to other characters. (Seriously, anyone besides CC, Destro, Baroness, SS, SE, Duke)

Finally, the most likely one for me to hunt down would be that Zartan. I would get this one if i could get it for reasonable price. He just has the right look for that scale.

Just my 2 cents. What's yours?

I've always thought the joes needed a quarter master/supply guy - a mix of klinger/Radar from M*A*S*H in their wheeling and dealing  and Macguyver. A guy who could get all sorts of things and knew how to macguyver almost anything from whatever he could get.

I wonder if it didn't sell so great in the US and now they have stock to sell up in Canada?

$23 + tax is still too rich for me. I can get two sailors or go and buy a vintage figure that I don't have....can't decide what I want to do.

Well well well. What do we have here.
is that articulation I see?! Perhaps this line is worth second look.

Doc looks real nice at first glance.

$55 US each!!! I'm out. New toys shouldn't cost the same as vintage. I'm out!!!

General Joe Talk / Terror drome mishap
« on: February 28, 2022, 10:13:55 AM »
well... it was bound to happen but over the weekend my son was tossing a ball in the basement with his cousin  and accidentally hit the cobra terror drome that i had out on a table. I was looking at what pieces I still needed to replace but was upstairs when they decided to goof around. Lets just say i need another gun turret. Thankfully that was the worst of it, but I nearly cried and it was all my fault.

Piece replacement seems ridiculous at the prices I'm seeing online.  Any suggestions on what is the best glue to use to try and repair this type of plastic? just regular superglue or is there a better alternative out in stores?

These are pretty neat looking, although the look seem more saturday morning cartoon to me. Not sure what exactly.
I won't get them though. If they had come out 20 years ago I'd be interested.

I so want to get in on this line, but the price is killing me.  I mean it is a 60% increase versus the US price (exchange rate adjusted).  Shipping definitely doesn't help, but in the end $40.82 per figure!!!

I totally agree. Here is the break down:

Subtotal: $83.98
Shipping: $26.99

CANADA GST: $5.55
QUEBEC QST: $11.07

Total: $127.59 USD

AGREED! I want this line to keep going but its too much for me....ARRGH

i like the troopers but that's $52cdn before shipping.... so probably like what $75 CDN all in?
