The whole "only large orders from Asia" thing seems a little shady to me.

It's like BBTS is trying to get you to by with a "LIMITED TIME ONLY!!!" quip.

The reality is that only large orders ever get processed.  Small etailers tend to get their supply through middle men like Entertainment Earth.  Large companies (TRU, Walmart) go through Hasbro.  BBTS is probably one of the only, if not only, etailer that orders in large quantities to justify shipping to them directly.

It seems to me like it is a bit disingenuous to put that kind of thing in to scare up some extra orders, when they likely have no more knowledge about who is going to order these than anyone else.  Unless they have contacts in TRU, Target, etc.

Also, if they do end up as "online only" exclusives then I imagine they will be pretty readily available.

It's very legit.

Hasbro has done this before. What it means is they are washing their hands of it, to a degree. They product is produced (it has been since before it was canceled last time) and sitting in China. Rather than taking that huge loss, Hasbro is basically saying "it's
over there - if you want it, go get  it"

Therefore, in order to get it to North American shores at a reasonable cost, you're going to have to order a significant amount so the shipping price can get spread across more units.

Hasbro isn't importing it, isn't distributing it, isn't touching it. It will NOT show up at Walmart, TRU or Target, as the work through Hasbro distribution. Hasbro Canada didn't even know about it until I talked to them yesterday.

How can Hasbro Canada not know about this? Is there no communication between the US and Canadian buisnesses about the same products? Hasbro Canada should go and order a whole bunch to be released here. Then at least we'd have a few more vehicles to choose from.

looking good. I'm going to assume you buy multiples of everything(as in one to display and one to open) otherwise how do you resist not playing with those toys!

a little late in the response but just wanted to say another excellent issue. I really enjoyed Raptor's article, especially the part about the dio story props. Great job.

I like the idea of this marketing strategy,  huge exposure!!

to me it all depends on what I do with my figures. If I'm just placing them on a shelf, without really posing them in an action pose and then leaving them like that for months on end (basically forming ranks) then I'm not really worried about the wrists. If I was into dio stories and needed them to be able to do different poses then I'd want fixed wrists. I'd buy a set.

yeah I agree with Pete.
I thought Transformers was gonna suck but it actually wasn't that bad wasn't as great as some of my other friends claimed.  Still Gi Joe seems more like a rental to me.  If someone goes and see it opening night do a little review for me on the board please.

General Joe Talk / Re: 2009 G.I. JOE RESOLUTE comic packs
« on: December 28, 2008, 08:12:12 AM »
hmmmm... I don't think I really want to get any of those packs for the figures. I prefer my joes 80's style. However that Tunnel Rat looks good and I do want Storm Shadow's gear. Does his helmet come off or is it part of the head mold?

General Joe Talk / Re: What's your pick for 2008? Best......
« on: December 26, 2008, 08:26:05 AM »
Its been a great year, my choices are

Best Single Carded figure: Bat

Best Comic 2-pack : Beachead & Mainframe/Dataframe

I don't have any of the SRO sets yet. I need more troops and less command.but haveing looked at several in store. Destro and the IG's take it.

Best Multipacks: Firefly & Greenshirts for me since I only own that and the CG set.

Best Vehicle: Firebat (its what I wanted and got for Christmas) Otherwise I'd like a FANG.

Best Accessory: The sword rack that comes with the snake eyes & hard master comic pack. Slowly building up all the items needed for a cool dojo.

Best Overall: 5 packs!! Good $ : figures ratio. Love the small squad building.

This is only based on what I was able to get this year and I usually don't get anything ordered in from the States (the firebat being the exception but that was from my wife).
