Honestly, I think they should pull  the old Takara engineers back out of retirement, to show these new guys how to design TFs.
I don't collect them, but i still have all my original G1s, and all the new ones look like cheap, brittle, POS. I guess thats what you
get from recycled becker's milk jugs now of days.
....
You do realize, of course, that the original G1s were like twenty times more brittle than any TF on the market today?

Yep. Modern transformers have pop joints. That way if you force too hard, the piece will come out but in a way that can be safely reattached. Plus modern Transformers have some very creative transformations. Sideways, the Decepticon double agent that has infultrated the Autobots, turns from a stealth bomber to a samurai, both of which look awesome.

No i did'nt, I never broke any of my G1's as a kid, and the new one's I was checking out, popped apart alot. Obviously that was suppose to happen.
I guess i'm only a fan of the originals. I just find there to be more quality to the originals, as like the old Joe toys.

Those protoforms remind me of those toys that transformed from rocks to men. Oh man I can't remember what they were called.

And whats up with starscreams face?

Were the toy your are think of from He-Man (Comet Warriors).

From what I have read, Starscreams face has a red dye for anti-theft purposes.  Whatever.

Those two were from Masters Of The Universe.

The other 'Rock Transformers' you're thinking of were called ROCK LORDS.

....and they were sweet!

The sweetest being that the rock that turns into a warthog. Or a rock with a snout, depending on how you look at it.

I might be wrong, but weren't Rock Lords the reimagining of the Go-Bots?

No, they were from a Machine Robo subline called Ganseki Chojin. I believe some of them made it to the Revenge Of Chronos anime.

Gobots indeed had the Rock Lords. I use to have a guy named Boulder:

I remember watching an empisode of the Go Bots  where they met the Rock Lords.
I only ever had the Jet from the Go-Bots line, never really thought much of them.

On the topic of Go-Bots, about a year ago I saw an animation clip of Go-Bot Sex from the cartoon - three guys jumpt the jet guy, and force him to the ground to place some sort of brain device to the back of his head - rather than describe it, I am going to google to look for it, and post the link below.

Rock Lords was it's own stand alone toy line however.

I've sold many of them MOC.
