Now that's a good use of Rip Cord. I did a custom using that body a few months ago. It's a highly underrated body. Plus the left over web gear is excellent to work with on other figures.
It looks like the head was cast in white and hand painted. Simple and effective. I think I like this one the most. He looks like he just came in from outside and took off his coat and then had to jump into action.

I don't get the ski mask and t-shirt look :) Is he hot? Is he cold? I guess he does not know!

I'm confused, I thought Mike indicated the cost of head sculpts was way up, but I have not seen any new ones......maybe that was a red herring, like the Chroming one.
Or maybe not, Slayer shut down............

Not at all. The cost for chroming is higher. The cost for this head is high as it's an original head. People tend to be thinking it's Snake Eyes. It's not. Not one bit.
There is still another figure, and the cost for that head, the body and parts, etc cost more. Costs OVERALL are way up this year. WAY up.

The base of the head looks like Beach head to me. The most recent version of him. I think that because of the thicker lines.
The goggles I'm drawing a blank on. If I had to guess I'd think maybe Firefly. Hard to say off the top of my head.
It looks like the head was cast with the goggles on it. That would make it unique to the Canadian Joe Convention.

This figure and the tank are all I'd need for a kick ass con set this year. The rest is just gravy. Thanks for making a figure available to the masses now that was pretty much inaccessible before, but was such a key part of the mythos you guys have built.

Yes, I agree. It will be nice to have an official Joe Canuck figure, so that I can "retire" my LBC version.
I always thought that Joe Canuck was the leader/founder, but I haven't read the file cards in quite a while.

Although thrilled with getting an official Joe Canuck figure, I wasn't jazzed about the t-shirt/mask combination at first either. However, (ironically) knowing who the base figure is, I've definitely "warmed up" to him in the meantime. And based on THE Mike's post above, I am crossing my fingers that the missing piece is some sort of jacket.
BTW, not that it matters, does the Joe Canuck figure have the same skin tone as Ripcord? It is a little hard to tell from the pic. The only reason I mention it is that for me Joe Canuck has kinda been like the Canadian version of the Steel Brigade trooper in that he could look however you imagine him under the mask. I don't recall his skin tone ever being revealed/shown in the comics.
Regarding the other Canucklehead, if it is Snowbank, it would make sense based on THE Mike's comments about the expense for parts. I could then also set aside my WIP Snowbank custom figure finally. ;)

Costs OVERALL are way up this year. WAY up.
That sounds somewhat ominous. I hope that you aren't losing money on these sets, despite the price increase. ???

I don't think it's shown in the comic, but it is shown on the filecard art.
I appreciate the fact that you guys think we're willing to paint 125 sets of eyeballs - but I guarantee you - that'll never be the case! ;D

Dude, I was excited about painting them last year. Then I saw the light. Captain Ruin almost had eyes but instead I modified the head to include the glasses to avoid 250 individual eyes. Heck, painting eyebrows on Valkyrie got to be a challenge because after a while things start to slip, the paint starts to bunch up and your brush tip gets clumps.
Mike was right on that call to not do the eyes. I can paint one off's for the odd custom, but doing bulk would be maddening. ;)

Pardon my ignorance, but is tomorrow's reveal Joe Canuck's unmasked head, the last figure in the con set, the logo on Joe Canuck's shirt, or some combination of the three?
And when should we expect the reveal for the second vehicle? Just curious.

There's some confusion. There are two new heads in the set. One of them is JoeCanuck's head, which is on the JoeCanuck figure revealed at the start of this thread. The second head is not JoeCanuck's.

Since the Joe Canuck in this year's convention comic has a striking resemblance to Ripcord (the base figure for the 2012 Joe Canuck exclusive), will we be getting an alternate unmasked head (with a toque) for the figure?
