Hi everyone.
I have been here from time to time but have never signed up.
You all have a great joe collecting community here.
I am coming home for good from Afghanistan in June, so I have been thinking about coming to your convention seeing that you are my close neighbors to the north.
The convention set really interests me.
More about that in a little bit.
I have been collecting joes since joe came out in '82.
I quit collecting in about '93 or '94.
I got back in to joes in '97.
Then i kinda dropped out for a few years again and in '00 I came back into the collecting fold full force.
At first I didn't like the 25th stuff but now I am hooked after a friend gave me the 25th v2 Snake Eyes.
Now for my questions about the 'con set.
Are these basically just customs or an actually factory produced set?
Also if I come to the convention what are my chances at getting a set?
Are there vehicles and things to purchase like at the club convention?
I am a member of hiss tank also, but I like how you have your own characters for Canada and have a whole story to go with them.
Any way I look forward to being a member of this community even if I am not from Canada.
I think I will fit in here well though seeing we are practically neighbors. :shifty: so I think that counts for something. ;D
Oh Yeah.........YO JOE!!!!!

Welcome (from another who started in '82)!

Your wife loves Joes?  You are most certainly a lucky man.

And the figures are essentially customs.  If you show up a few hours before the con, I see no reason you won't be able to get a set.  There are no extra vehicles to be purchased.

Welcome aboard! There is also a fantastic comic book that is included with the set. The set will have 8 figures, which is more than the last year's 3 figure set. There are also 2 T-Shirts that you can buy, but those you must pre-order from the Canadian Joe Convention store (accessible through the Canadian Joe Convention section), and you must place in your order no later than June 1st I believe because they will only make a certain number based on the orders that will have been placed.

In the past two years, showing up just before the Con opens would get you one of the last sets. I would suggest 2hrs early or so, just to be safe. If you're coming from a long way away, I wouldn't want you to just miss one. Plus, the line is where people get to know one another!

Welcome to the board!  As a fellow American member of this board, let me tell you that these Canucks are very inviting & accommodating to others, Canadian or not.  This is the best Joe community I have found on the 'Net.

Also, thank you for your service to America!!!!!

Welcome here.

And about the set, the first years of the Joe meet, the exclusive were produced in few numbers (between 25 and 30). Now it is a Convention, number increased to 100 last year and 125 this year. So, I don't see why you shouldn't have your set this year.

See you in Toronto in June!!

Martin

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. My wife and I talked it over and I am about 80% sure I am coming your way in June.
With all of the skymiles I have accumulated from flying back and forth over here, I can get a roundtrip ticket to Toronto for about $69 american dollars.
I have never been able to attend a Joe con of any type so this is going to be great.
Everytime GIJCCon has been I have pretty much been over here, but I feel it's time to come home now because of being away from my family too long now.
I can't wait now to go.
To answer the question about the wife:My wife isn't exactly a fan, but she puts up with all my Joe talk so I would consider her a fan in my eyes. lol.
Thank You everyone for the info.
I also have a question about the days of the con.
What happens on each con night usually(what I mean by this is the times the con runs starting and ending)?
Also My wife said she was looking at the hotel info and it said FRI, SAT, and SUN, Is this the days?
Thank You everyone in advance for the info.
