Introductions / Metro comes out of semi-retirement!
« on: March 13, 2007, 12:07:57 AM »
Or something like that at least ;)

I can't really say I've ever been a huge presence on joecanuck or joecustoms as I'm more of the shy forum lurker type but I do try and stay informed about whats going on. Heh, I still seem to miss the big stuff sometimes though.

As for the re-introduction part, here goes...

Born & raised in Hamilton I grew up with GI Joe and its still my all time favorite toy line - nothing beat going to TRU with my allowance and picking up a figure. Well, at least when it took up like half an aisle, memory's a bit foggy on that.  One of my favourite memories is of my dad on xmas morning putting together the only thing I had asked for - the Rolling Thunder.  In my eyes its still the jewel in my collection thanks to the memories attached to it.  I've also done a small number of customs which can be seen over at joecustoms (if yer interested of course. they're under Metro there too ;) ).  I've still got my parts bin loaded with stuff including a few half-finished customs it just seems I can never sit down and find the time to finish them up.  Seems a special someone always has something for me to do hehe.

I guess that pretty much covers it at least as far as Joe goes, anything else I'm sure'll come out in time ;)

I scooped mine at Music World at Eastgate Square in Hamilton for $85. Maybe a bit pricey, but it was worth it (IMO).

General Joe Talk / Pics in from the Con

These are all courtesy of General Hawk over at Joe customs, but thought I'd post 'em here for us all to see.  I'm a very happy camper.

General Joe Talk / Did anyone read Joe Reborn? **spoilers herein**
« on: March 08, 2004, 01:02:02 PM »
As a whole, I thought this was an interesting take on the Joe mythology, but what was up with the whole bio-weapons thing against Scarlett's family?  Don't get me wrong, certainly in the modern world that sort of thing is a real threat, but why single out just that one potential member of the Joe team?

On a slightly different note, what was up with Duke, Hawk and the imposter?  Was it just me, or did all three men look the same?  I mean  its pretty safe to say it was Zartan, but I found the whole scene kinda confusing.

General Joe Talk / B.A.T. APC

I was down in Buffalo yesterday and managed to scoop one of these.  I must say I was quite impressed that it actually included 3 full bats with all the weapons and it holds something like 24 figures.

Anybody else think this thing is pretty sweet?

General Joe Talk / Favourite Joe 'era'
« on: February 19, 2004, 03:15:43 PM »
I'm sure everyone has been asked this before, but I was curious as to which year of joes was your favourite.

Being the young buck that I am, I didn't really start collecting joes 'til about '87 or '88.  However, my favourite year is probably '86.  Although the previous years had so many of the major characters, I mostly remember  watching Joe after school on WUTV with all the '86'ers.
