General Joe Talk / Cobra Stickers is back up now
« on: June 03, 2011, 09:40:49 AM »
Hurray! After eight days without Cobra Stickers, this website is back up and working fine. Glad you're back, Cobra Stickers.

As the website reads: "June 03, 2011 - A Fresh Start, Back in Business - Please recreate your accounts. I apologize to everyone for the down time. Our host updated their build of PHP without warning and the site basically ate itself. Restoring from backups failed (there was some fundamental incompatibility with the new build of php in the code) so things had to be rebuild from the ground up.

On the plus side this gave me a chance to improve some things that always bugged me, like the Lightbox image viewer. The site images have now been unified under the same viewer.

On the minus side, the customer database was not ported over to the rebuilt site, as we were experiencing isolated login issues very near the time the site went down. You will have to recreate your account.

Thank you to everyone who shops at Cobra Stickers for your patience."

Introductions / Greetings from Germany!
« on: May 01, 2011, 04:19:18 PM »
Hello Canuckleheads,

Greetings from the land of the Red Shadows (and the Black Major, etc).

I've enjoyed this website and forum for the past three years now, but never bothered to register or contribute to it.  My communications have been limited to e-mails to Mike Heddle, to which he always courteously and promptly responds, so I have never had much reason to ask a question to the rest of the members on this forum.

Never have attended a Canadian G.I. Joe Convention, and doubt that I ever will.  Loved visiting Ontario when I was a kid, and was delighted to see bilingual G.I. Joe toys in Canadian department stores while shopping (it was the early 1980's).

Always befriended our Canadian military counterparts, and enjoyed visiting Newfoundland for R&R while returning from the middle east.

Even did my cold weather survival school right at the Canadian border.

As a United States military family relocated to Germany from Texas, we have corresponded with many Joe collecting Canucks, and have appreciated the kindness of our northern neighbors.

My sons and I are avid G.I. Joe fans, and incorporate the Cobra North characters into our joe-verse.  We are package openers, and my kids play on the carpet with their 2009 and 2010 Canadian G.I. Joe Convention set figures and vehicles the same as they do with their other Joes.

I don't know if a 2011 convention set will be doable this year, but I will at least make it a point to buy a t-shirt and be with you in spirit.
