Title: Registering a domain name
Post by: martin-montreal on April 16, 2011, 06:58:37 PM
Hey guys,

I need an advise, I created a website for my girlfriend's company Cocorico (http://http://pages.videotron.com/cocorico/). She makes washable diapers for babies. I now need to buy a domain name (ideally a .ca). I made some searches and I'm not sure all the registers I found are legit...  :-

If you bought a domain name and you got a good price and a good service, who did you use?

Thanks for any help!!!

Martin

Two people recommending the same place, it must be good!

I also have two kids and both are using washable diapers (our brand  ;D, but also other to test the competitors). More people are using washable diapers for their kids then what we think. And, for many reasons:

Thanks for your support and good words!

I use Go daddy as well.
Good prices, good service and the website has a nice minty scent... of maybe it's just the little Pine tree that hooked on top of my screen  :shifty:

To date, the best hosting company I've found is www.blacksun.ca (http://www.blacksun.ca)

GoDaddy isn't bad - I have my personal site there, and I've had a couple others there as well. Never had any issues - but I'm in the very very small minority there.

CanadianJoeCon.com is also there.

You do get ads if you choose not to pay for hosting - but for $5.00 a month, those ads go away.

Thanks everyone for helping. I did it last night. It was pretty easy. I made this: PetitCocorico.ca (http://http://www.petitcocorico.ca)

Mike, I was more looking for a place to register the Website than hosting it. My Videotron account give me some free space (ad free). It's a tiny Website, so I didn't need too much space.

Not to mention the best part...
they are good for the kids!
no chemicals.
My son and daughter were cloth diapered and never once had a diaper rash.
If your wife wants any advice or reccomendations, just ask my wife.
she is known here in Ottawa as the cloth diaper queen.
plus she has hook ups with alot of baby stores so she can pass the word along.

Host it at GoDaddy. The tools they have and the free stuff is much better than Videotron. Especially if you're "new" to all this.

THIS message board - is a free feature of GoDaddy.com, for starters. Now, you could set one up on Videotron - but you may have problems.

I'd check into what GoDaddy has first for you to use. The hosting is free with the ad - so use it, test it, etc. If you like it, pay the $5.00 a month and drop the ads. ;)
