Other than the new chin guns on the Sky Hawk - does anyone see the new additions that Hasbro might of added?
Are those new landing skids on the Sky Hawk?
It looks all new. Everything is just a touch different from the original. Lift-Ticket looks great!

« on: September 07, 2008, 03:31:57 AM »
I saw the "MASS Device" and "Weather Machine" DVD packs (2 of each) at Toys 'R Us Edmonton south side yesterday, $30 each.

If you need one PM me by 11 am MST Sunday Sept. 7 and I'll see what I can do to pick 'em up for ya as I may be heading back that way.

There's a new "Internet Exclusive" Wave 7 2008 (11) case up today at BBTS with an extra Eel instead of the Bazooka trooper.

General Joe Talk / Re: GI Joe: Resolute (new cartoon) footage on Youtube

It looks like it will be interesting to say the least. I think I'm looking forward to "Resolute" more than "Rise of Cobra". At least I know Warren Ellis can write.

Alberta / Wave 8, Wave 3 comic packs at Zellers
« on: August 05, 2008, 02:04:24 AM »
Zellers at WEM had the wave 8 (wave 4 2008) figures this weekend. Didn't see Major Bludd or CC with the MASS crystals, but did get the Arctic Snake Eyes and Baroness - all on International cards. They also had the Red Star/Duke and Copperhead/Shipwreck comic packs when I was there.

Alberta / Vehicles at TRU
« on: August 05, 2008, 01:51:47 AM »
I saw the remainders of the wave 1 vehicles at the Edmonton South Side Toys 'R Us today, two of the Armadillo/Air Chariot sets but nothing else. If you're in the Edmonton area the West End and North Side may be a better bet.

SPONSOR SECTION / Re: Sale on 25th Anniversary Items
« on: July 28, 2008, 03:21:02 PM »
I just placed an order and while it was a bit slow, there were no major problems. In fact the longer I looked around the faster it seemed to get.

Payment is by Paypal or check/money order so now worries about financial information.

Introductions / Hey hey hey
« on: July 23, 2008, 07:06:42 PM »
Hi everybody. I planned on being a professional lurker on this site, but somehow I was tricked into posting on another thread, so I may as well introduce myself now.  ;D

My name's Dan, I live in Edmonton for the most part, with a smattering of other exotic locales like Calgary and Barrhead thrown in to the mix for good measure. I got my first Joe at the Capilano Mall Woolco in east Edmonton in 1982. Straight-arm Grunt. That would be an excellent name for a band by the way. I wanted Flash and would have settled for Short-Fuze but they weren't there.  My brother wanted Scarlett but got Snake-Eyes instead. It was grey outside, either raining or snowing. I don't know why I remember that.
My Steel Brigade code name was Sureshot, after the Easy Co. scout, not the Beastie Boys song, and thusly it is my member name here. I said I wouldn't collect the VvsV Line, and I didn't. I said I wouldn't collect the first comic packs they put out and I stuck to my guns there too. I managed to only buy Grand Slam and the Medi-Viper from the DTC collection.  I said I wasn't going to start collecting the 25th collection, but I did. I swear, it's those backing cards. They suckered me in big time.

I look forward to spending a bit of time around here. Thanks for having me.

If you can get there on a Tuesday or Wednesday that's the usually the replenishment days for Toys R' Us, Monday or Tuesday for Zellers. I've never seen more than a case of anything at any given store, so it's usually only the leftovers (especially now that I can only go on weekends as I'm working/staying in Barrhead during the week). There is just not enough product out there to sustain the amount of collectors in the Edmonton area, with scalpers thrown in for good measure. I got lucky a few times early on at Toys 'R Us with comic packs, but it is a lot easier for me just to ebay, internet, or hit the comic book stores now. My 25th collection would only be about a 10 or 20 figures if I just shopped local. This way I haven't had to settle for Canadian packaging yet either. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but the American style gets way more nostalgia points.

No Joes last weekend at the south side (Calgary Trail) TRU, which is the only one within reasonable striking distance for me. I did pick up the wave 9 Torpedo repack at my local comic store, so most specialty stores in Edmonton should have them as well.

It's probably the cheapest you're gonna find, but there's no Wal-Mart close enough to me to warrant making a special trip. Transport costs would negate any savings.

That and there's something about that many fluorescent lights that just wigs me out.

Not cheap enough to get me to shop there then. Thanks Mr Stealth Viper.

How much are they going for at Wal-Mart? I've only seen Joe stuff at TRU and Zellers.
