Toy Traders Dioramas

Hi,

I live in vancouver/surrey (literally both) and did not know about this place and the truly breathtaking SW and GIJoe scenes on display in Langley.

I am talking 18 night ravens, 3 flaggs (1 customized to carry night force), 9 terrordromes, 12 hydrofoils kind of thing.  I am talking about a cobra moon base, cobra mountain, cobra sea base.  I am talking about a recreation of the battle of springfield.  Its literally what Willis was talking about.

If you live in the lower mainland, you must see this.  If you ever come to BC, you must see this.

The owner, Matt, said I could take some pictures and I will ask him if I can post them.  Maybe you all know about this already.

Have a look at the SW displays (which have since been updated), keeping in mind the GIJoe  dios are much larger.

I just had to tell everyone about this, shout it out.

We know. :-)

There's a couple of threads on it already here.
I was actually in the process of (finally) uploading all the pics I took there this past September.

I have a video posted somewhere as well....

Its just unbelievable.  Really artistic in some areas.  Just made by guys who are genuine in their love of the genre.

I spoke to Matt, and he said he based it on the comic book rather than cartoon.

Please post your pics.  I wont be able to take any for a couple of weeks.

Sorry I didn't even realize who you were.

How are you doing?  You used to see me in your store from time to time.  My occasional waxing and waning interest in the line is currently waxing.

I have moved back to Vancouver.  Very sorry to see you have closed your excellent store.  A real loss for everyone.  But I understand your reasons.

Wish you the best of luck in your next endeavour.  I have a feeling you will end up owning a toystore again in the future.  A giant one!

Please, please post those pics when you get a chance.  Ironically I can't take any because I will be in Toronto (there is no good place to check out Joes in Toronto - however in Hamilton...no wait...damn!)  :(

Hi,

I was very sorry to hear about your experience as described on Joecustoms, BHT.  If you are a "fanboy", then I feel I am in good company.

Kind of a kick in the nuts.  This is just a hobby and should be for fun (understanding that retailers have to be a bit more hard edged at times to keep a business in check - as you know extremely well).  It seems an unkind and unfair thing to have been said to you.  Maybe he was just having a terrible day or something.  I would hope that that would be the reason.  He seemed really nice when I went there.  We had a good conversation and I had the impression he really genuinely loved the whole genre.  What a  disappointment for everyone.  I think the two of you should have been good friends with such a common interest.

So exactly how many Terrordromes does he have?

There's a lot of time and imagination that went into those dioramas. A bin in Mindbender's lab full of BATs and a Serpentor marked "Rejects"? Brilliant. You just wonder when it stops being fun and just becomes work.

Now, more than ever, I want to visit BC.

Man  those pics are amazing.   Now it makes you think... How long does it take to dust all of that?
