Off Topic / Congrats to my Canadian friends...
« on: February 21, 2014, 06:47:42 PM »
Congrats to my Canadian friends on yet another Olympic hockey victory over my country.

On the bright side, at least I won't end up with -1000 Timbits this time.

Damn guys, that sucks.  I understand though, and hopefully Retaliation will make Joe come back strong.

I admit I'm kind of worried about it. TRU down here has a tiny Retaliation section, and I don't see GI Joe at ALL in the spring Wal-Mart toy plan-o-gram posted at my store.

I am lucky enough to have obtained the past two CanJoeCon sets thanks to the efforts of several fellow board members, particularly Pdaat.  All the CJC staff does great work.

It is still on my "list" to make a CJC, and I'm looking forward to making it one day and meeting all you guys.

Thanks again for all you do!

General Joe Talk / Re: C'mon guys, no one wants to talk Toyfair?

Agreed on the box art!!! The correct box art doesn't really separate the Joes from anything else on the toy aisle. Give me black background with the "explosion" behind the vehicle and "GI Joe" emblazoned in red, white, & blue!

I think the Tomahawk/Eaglehawk will be like the SkyStriker: an all-new mould, but with the same basic dimensions as the original.  From looking at pics, it looks like the cargo compartment is a little larger.  The folding rotors will be great for displaying it landed on a Flagg. And I LOVE the headphones included for passengers, but I bet in 20 years they'll be the next Lift Ticket mike!

I too am curious how figs will stay in the jumpseats without a peg to help hold them. Love the way the seats and the guns look though.

In a Q&A JoeCanuck did with Hasbro, I asked them about how they made the SkyStriker look just like the original but with an obviously new mould.  In one of the most detailed answers they've ever given, they stated that they now have a technology that lets them scan an old vehicle and come up with a new design & new moulds. I think the Tomahawk/Eaglehawk is the second use of this technology.  This excites me, because it means that even if Hasbro doesn't have the moulds, they can make us a new & improved version of an old vehicle.  Mauler or WHALE, anyone?

I sent Marauder John a link to the review I did on his tents on here.  He was very grateful and offered me freebies if I wanted to review anything else.  His stuff's all so awesome and reasonably priced that I couldn't bring myself to take him up on that, though.

I'm a big fan of the bad-in-black Dollar General exclusive Cobra Troopers.  The only problem with them is that since they are "budget" figures they don't come with the pistol, silencer, & knife that the regular PoC Cobra Trooper carried.  Probably not a big deal if you just want one of these guys, as you can probably scrounge some weapons up to fill those spots...but it IS a big deal if you want to army-build these guys!

Marauder Gun-Runners has a solution now though.  They sell "Fix-It" kits that contain a pistol, knife, and a grenade that will clip onto the silencer's spot. There are 2 pistol options, 1911 .45 ACP and the more modern Desert Eagle.  The set costs a whopping $1, and would also work for any figure with the PoC Trooper legs that you may have lost the weapons for.

Items Wanted / Re: Power Team Elite
« on: July 26, 2012, 12:59:31 PM »
I don't know where ya live, but down here in TX PTE product usually shows up around Christmastime at retailers like Big Lots.  Also, BigBadToyStore.com has some items in stock.

PTE is pretty good stuff for not a lot of money.  I have quite a few of their products, ranging from the SEAL boat to the Desert Patrol Vehicle to the Headquarters playset.  I myself want to pick up the tank & the rocket chopper.

will they fix the articulation on all the movie toys now that they have almost a yr to do so. also will they release some of the 30anny figs we saw at the con.

I can already tell you no to articulation on this one Sean.  On Pt 2 Hasbro will be holding some kind of vote on the unreleased concepts but it is unclear when it will be or how binding it will be.  A good question for Canadians is if they will be eligible to vote online when it is held.

GeneralsJoes.com is the one doing the vote on the concept case.  I am unaware of any "official" vote Hasbro would have.  Hasbro DID say that they would heavily factor in fan feedback on what, if anything, was released from the concept case.

General Joe Talk / Have You Voted Yet?
« on: July 09, 2012, 08:19:47 PM »
Have you voted yet?  I'm not talking about trying to pick the lesser of two political evils who want to serve big-money interests while wasting your tax dollars - I'm talking, of course about the www.generalsjoes.com "2012 (US) JoeCon Concept Case Survey."

The easy to use survey lets you rank the figures in the "Concept Case" at (US) JoeCon, letting Hasbro know which concepts are sure things and which are duds.  It's split into five parts - 30th Anniversary, PoC, Renegades, Zombies/Ninjas, & vehicles.  There's also refresher galleries if you can't remember your NOMaD from your Data-Viper.

Besides the ranking questions, the end includeds write-in options for figures and vehicles that weren't shown that you would like to see made or remade.  So, whether your dying for a new Tomahawk, you want to see Ice Cream Soldier, the Rat, and Eco-Force resurrected, or you think an updated SkyStriker based on an F-18 Super Hornet would be awesome (like me!) this is a chance for your voice to be heard.

It might take 10 minutes of your time and it's not endorsed by Hasbro, but you know they'll see it...so get to voting!  The initial survey ends July 23, with a refined, follow-up survey based on the results starting July 30th.

I would love to hear what the rest of you think, especially with the write-ins.  I would like a reissued Defiant (I can dream, right?) the aforementioned Super Hornet SkyStriker, and a Tomahawk among other things on the vehicle side.  For figures, I'd like to see guys like Cross Country, Ambush, Scoop, and Golobulus show up.

In one of the Q&As from last year, I asked Hasbro how they made the new SkyStriker so closely resemble the old one.  They replied that they used CAD and basically scanned an original, then figured out how to make the new tooling necessary.

Since the process obviously works so well (and will only get better the more they do it), that means any vehicle out there would be on the table.  Even one like the Mauler, which we know had some broken molds.

My money is on the Tomahawk or the Mauler though, since Hasbro made such a big deal about it.  Ya never know though, they DID have a Flagg in their SDCC display case last year  ;D
