Title: New Joe Collector..........sort of
Post by: Bulman66 on February 02, 2011, 11:19:47 AM
               Hi all,

I'm 44 years old, and now live in Ajax Ontario just outside of Toronto.
I had a tonne of Adventure Team 12 inch Gi Joes and vehicles way
back in the 70's, but they all got thrown away ions ago sadly.
I have always loved Gi Joe, and really miss the toys.
So, I have just started to collect again with the purchase of the
Steel Marauder Mobile Mech Suit as part of the Pursuit of Cobra
line that started in 2010.
Anyone else who lives in the area, and also collects give me a shout.

Dale Bulman

At the age of 2 my family moved to K-W and I've been here ever since.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks guys for the hello's.
I will certainly be attending the convention in June.
Can't wait to see what the con exclusives will be
this year. I would love to get the " Joe Canuck"
and Canadian Snow Job figures from past cons.
Hopefully I can get them at the show, or from
someone on the forums who has them for sale

I think he means Snowbank....
The exclusives are rarely for sale on the secondary markets, and fetch upwards of several hundred dollars, easily.

Anyway, you can line up and get this years' set!

Welcome aboard!

last couple years they have been around $125, for the set.

The NEW ones have generally been about $125.00 for the convention SET. (We've moved past the low run of just 20-30 figures).
Originally, JoeCanuck was $20.00, the rest between $25 and $30.00. It wasn't until 2009 that the exclusives started getting bigger, and for obvious reasons, the price got higher.

Typically, the earlier figures have sold between $300 and $500 - depending on the character, of course.
The 2009 Con set seems to have averaged about $550.00 now, and the 2010 set seems to of settled around the $350/$400 mark.

The 2009 Comic has sold between $30-$60 on ebay, while the 2010 comic can still be had for $10.00 - sometimes less.  :shifty:

The JoeCanuck character TGC card is the one thing you don't see much. Last one I saw on ebay went for $30.00.

The insanely ridiculous prices on my site (www.bountyhuntertoys.com (http://www.bountyhuntertoys.com)) are for ones from my own personal collection - and to be honest, aren't for sale. IF someone paid me that asking price for any of them, then I would honestly have no problem parting with them. C'mon, over $1000 or $2000 for a figure? Hell yeah, I'd sell it! ;) Scary thing is, there was once two people genuinely interested in about 3 of them. One, I think, still is - but obviously can't afford the $5000 price tag I slapped on JoeCanuck. ;) (Really, not many people that could).
The other reason those are posted there is google. If people go looking for the figures, they stumble upon my site, which leads to the CanJoeCon site - and it encourages people to come here... nifty plan huh? ;)

So anyway, there ya have it.
They're worth whatever you're willing to pay, but they generally do sell in the hundreds.

As for the customs. It's kinda flattering so many people make customs of these characters. But to avoid fakes, each character came with a filecard that was numbered, or the figure was numbered itself - OR, like in the case of Timbit, the character came with something unique that can't be easily re-produced.

Man... that was a ton of typing!

Thank you soooo much "The Mike" and others for all your great
informative information. The $125 price tag has me a lot more
encouraged and damn excited. I can't wait to see what this
years exclusives will be. Is there a way of guaranteeing yourself
a set or figure???

There is no way I will be able to do that sadly. I live in Ajax, and will
have to take a Go Bus from here to Yorkdale, and then another from
there to the hotel. I likely won't get there until around 10am. DAMN.

Welcome aboard. You'll find that everyone on here is really helpful. I stumbled on this site last year and really enjoy visiting. And there are a number of us from the U.S. who make the trek up to the Great White North just for this cool con.

I have an alright collection. I try not to spend too much $$ when I can.  I seem to collect alot of stuff...  GI Joe being the only toy line right now.  Iam for sure attending the show this year.  last year was my first time and it was amazing. alot of hard work goes into pulling this off and it is something very special.  lots of great people, great prices, great product.

Ask garling23 if you can carpooling. I did this for the 2 past years bringing with me from 3 to 4 friends. We shared gas cost and we had fun during travel. Last year, we also shared hotel room.

I was about to have lunch at work, until I saw my all-time favorite character in that humiliating image....

I will eat later until this image is completely purged from my consciousness....  :-X
