General Joe Talk / Re: GI Joe Complete Series on DVD
« on: October 10, 2009, 09:08:18 AM »
You know about 3 year ago I would have been excited. Now that I've seen some of the dvds and episodes on teletoon I find that it just doesn't recreate the magic. I think I'd rather save my money and go buy the old marvel comics which I never really read as a kid and find awesome right now. I had the same problem with Transformers, but not with He-Man or The Visionaries.

yah! good news here. Little Deanna has turned around very quickly and has responded amazingly. She's now digesting her food, and she's maintaining her blood sugars well enough that they are lowering her concentration and drip rateof the I.V after each feed. The doctors will continue to do this until she can maintain her own sugar levels without an I.V. Awesome how much change there is for her. She looks better. here's a few pics.

Thanks everyone, unfortunately things have gone downhill for my little girl, due to several factors regarding her birth and apparently her inablity to absorb all the food in her stomach (she absorbs some but not nearly enough nutrients) she's been moved into the NICU in St. Boniface Hospital here in Winnipeg.

Basically she doesn't eat because she can't absorb enough food in her body from her stomach. Since she isn't absorbing the nutrients certain things and criteria that a newborn has to hit (i.e her sugar levels in her blood are lower then they want) before being allowed to go home aren't happening, They've tried bottle, finger feeding, even dropping a tube directly into her stomach. She now is hooked up into an I.V unit for direct injection into the blood.  That's about all I can re-call for now. I've barely slept since she was born.

Sorry about this, I don't know any of you personally but it just feels ok to mention this for some reason. Anyways I'll probably be in and out over the next couple of days. I'll update later.

Hey all, just got back from the hospital where my wife and I welcomed our newest daughter Deanna. Born 11:40pm on Sept 29. ;D  I have to be back in about 5 hours and I'm taking my other daughter Julie to see her new sister. Now I'm heading off for sleep.

having grown up in Edmonton back in the 80's with Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Coffee etc. it was pure torture moving to Winnipeg and half to hear about the Jets. In fact I stopped watching Hockey by the end of '92. Then the Jets left and now Winnipeg doesn't have an NHL team yet people here just can't let them go.

Also the entire MLB is torture, please take it off tv.

edit: oops how could I forget the Bombers, they are absoulte garbage this year. In fact I heard there was a new rule: If you lose to the Bombers your kicked out of the league. (I'm speaking CFL for those who might not know what I'm talking about.)

General Joe Talk / Re: Parts Frustration
« on: September 24, 2009, 04:00:33 PM »
Quote from: "olyeller01"
I really appreciate all the parts offers I got within just a couple of hours of posting that.  You guys are freakin' GREAT!  That's why I love posting here.  The post was one more of annoyance than a request for help.

Here's why it's so frustrating: I finally get my Joes out after 15 years.  I was a very, very particular kid about keeping my toys complete.  If I lost a part it would annoy me to no end, so I'm about 99% certain I had all those parts.  When I got my Joes out, I searched ALMOST every possible place I could for parts.  There are three possibilities for more parts, and they make me shudder.

1.  There are more in my old big toy box which USED to be only reserved for Ninja Turtles.  Somehow some Joe parts got thrown in there as well...possible and even probable.
2.  I have a 35 gallon trashcan almost full of loose Hot Wheels cars in the attic, there may be some mixed in there.  I dread going through all those.
3.  Heaven forbid, there are some Joe parts mixed in with my approximately (exaggeration of course but you get the idea) 1.5 million Lego bricks in the Lego tub.  I dread going through those as well.

Plus, I'm very tempted to buy replacements for what I'm missing.  I'm pretty sure that, in typical fashion, if I do buy the parts I will find them on my next trip home.  That's the other problem: I have no idea when I'll get to go back to Shiner and I'll have time to go through the rest of the stuff.  In the meantime the incomplete vehicles will sit there and annoy me.

Its your lucky day! Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to let you send me all those toys listed above (at your expense) and I'll sort through them and search for those missing joe parts and send them back to you (at your expense). Finally I'm going to save you the cost of having everything else sent back and allow you to store them at my house for a really long time.

I'm going to skip it now, I hope this dvd gets packaged in some kind of set of figures in the future. Just looking at how many dvd's of the old stuff are available. (I don't need the Mass Device for a third time) and I'm going to wait. I'm sure Hasbro will revisit Resolute.
