Manitoba & Saskatchewan / Next Wave of RoC figures finally made it.
« on: September 09, 2009, 06:44:41 AM »
Was in Wal-Mart on Regent and saw the new wave with Helix, Flash,  Pit Commando etc. Looked to have only one case. I'm not collecting the movie line but thought I'd pass on the info to others in the Manitoba area that they are here.

General Joe Talk / Re: What's the first Joe Toy you ever owned?
« on: September 09, 2009, 06:41:16 AM »
To be honest, I'm not really sure who I got first, I seem to recall several but no definitive figure. The early ones I remember where Big Boa, Dr. Mindbender, Lady Jaye, Viper.

One of those four was first, and I remember choosing one of them because my brothers also collected joes and they decided that each of us had to have different ones from each other. I purchased them with refunds on pop bottles that we used to collect. That was the source of money for buying my toys in the 80's.

Off Topic / Re: How many other members like to DRINK!?!?!?

no beer for me, although I usally keep some mgd for guests. I like rye (whiskey)  such as Forty Creek, Gibson's, Wisers and Crown Royal.I also drink rum such as Barcardi, Capt. Morgan, Gosling's Black Rum.

Of course I can't hold it nearly as good as when I was 20 and really only have it when people are visiting or I'm visiting. My parents never had it anything growing up so its no bid deal.

Only once a year in March, when I go down to Grand Forks North Dakota will I drink a lot. Its for a week-end basketball tournament with dozens of teams. Then we drink a lot, mostly because were dumb. Lots of booze and no sleep make for a really tough game of ball.

I think for most Canadians a lot of the taxes placed on booze and cigs end up being spent on health care which costs a lot of money for the amount of people we have in this country.
So I don't mind paying a bit more to avoid paying huge medical bills.

I'm assuming you guys are talking in Canadian currency correct? Why would anyone want to buy beer at 7-11? seriously can you imagine the mark-up. In Manitoba the gov't controls the liquor and its still alright for price, just depends on what you drink you can get really cheap beer if you want. I remember friends buying it in two litre bottles.
Drinks at bars used to be a $1.25 all night. That changed to a $2.25 min when some guy got hammered and threw himself off a bridge. (like that stops people from getting drunk.) Been to the States a few times in the past years, and pick up a good bottle nice and cheap at the border. However the need to be 21 in the States sucks (at least it does in North Dakota).

mostly things that I find cool and can actually find in my local area. Most of my collecting has died down due to my increasing family.

Besides GiJoe, I  collect:  some Star War figs (less then 30). A fair amount of LotR, A small smattering of DC Superheros, a decent amount of Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) figs. Batman and Starwars Lego, Dragon Megabloks, and couple of odds and ends like Buffy & Angel, A few TMNT, Simpsons, Family Guy. Most of those lines I really don't have any intention of collecting I just happened to stumble across them and decided I want them.  I have some old Warhammer Fantasy figs from years ago stored in the house.

As I said, most of my collecting has died down mostly dues to insuffiecient funds as a result of having kids, the 25th line is the last line I'll be collecting (no movie joes for me), once I can get most of that I'll probably stop collecting anything new and pick up only the occasional thing.
