Early Box Office Estimates
« on: August 08, 2009, 11:17:48 AM »

Early estimates put GIJOE: RoC as taking $22 Million yesterday, for an estimated $60 Million dollar weekend.

Other early estimates are putting the worldwide at an additional ~40 million, making Joe a cool $100 million overall in its' first weekend.

Paramount execs expect it to hit $300million worldwide in theatrical. If that's the case, a sequel is no doubt in the works.

Late last night I wanted to call work and ask how it did. I'll find out when I go in later today anyway. When I left work yesterday it was about 7:30 and we had no sell outs and it wasn't very busy. Unless it rains, we don't expect it to be busy again today. I really liked the movie though and I'm hoping for a sequel. It seems set up for there to be one anyway. If I had kids I would take them to see it.

how much did the movie cost to make? It's got to make a decent profit for both the studio and Hasbro to even consider. I wonder what that margin is?

I really can't see this movie  having a great second week. Unless every fan keeps going. I'd be surprised if they did a sequel. Do movies even do just sequels anymore? don't they move right away into trilogies. I guess time will tell.
