So, what do you guys drive?
« on: August 03, 2009, 07:41:12 PM »

So just exactly what do you guys tool around in up north?  I know you don't have the benefit of it very rarely freezing, so a rear-drive overpowered sports car year-round is probably out of the question.

Me, I'm a die-hard Ford man.  My baby is a 2002 Mustang GT.  I've put a lot of $ and a lot of work into it, and everything short of the exhaust and the gears either I've put on myself or with the help of my buddies.  It's got headers, an x-pipe, SLP catback exhaust, K&N cold air, a 75mm throttle body, a Professional Products upper plenum & Typhoon intake manifold, underdrive pulleys, 3.73 gears, MSD coil packs, a Tri-Ax shirfter, & a SCT Livewire programmer.  I'm pushing 350-375 horses, and I left it looking bone-stock on purpose, because it sure is funny to see the look on a new Mustang GT or an LS1 Camaro owner's face when they try to mess with me and I kick their butts!

Diesel Volkswagens, a Golf and a Jetta.
Can't beat 1000-1300km per tank of gas.

I also have a '72 VW Bug.

I have a bone stock 05 civic sedan, which im letting my mother in law drive, because she cant driver her van right now.

So im driving my 98 cdillac catera, i love it. next winter im going to try and get it in for some paint, and lowering.
It has 200 horse from stock, with 175 foot pound of tourque to the rear wheels, its got a limited slip differental, and fully loaded, inside the car, and the exust is a true dual with cherry bombs (but its time to replace them, 7 years old now)

im also currently looking for a 95-99 dodge neon 5 speed, for a custom project.

'03 Cavalier, here.  It's a good car.
Before that, I had an '83 Chevette.  That was a great car.

But, I see plenty of rear-drive overcompensator sports cars on the road.  Even in winter.  Mostly when I'm driving through Toronto or Ottawa.  Road salt is the biggest pain for sportscar drivers...  the cold doesn't make too much of a difference, I guess.

Are you saying I'm overcompensating for something? ???  ;D  Down here, the overcompensators drive enormous trucks with 33 to 44 inch tires with booming soundsystems that get about 10 miles per gallon.

Don't worry, I'm not offended.  I flat love my car, as it has 115,000 miles on it, and the only two problems I've had were 1. a bad alternator and 2. a destroyed third-gear synchronizer.  That I destroyed doing a rowdy burnout.  And I do not treat the thing nice.  Its reached well over 100 mph on deserted backroads many times, and the throttle gets matted at least once a day.  Plus, even with all the added power, I can STILL get 24 miles per gallon on the highway.  The city, with my driving...well that's another story  ;D

My winter beater - 96 Chev Cavalier. Bought it new in Jan of 96, and I've put 320,000k on it. Still runs great
My summer car - 08 Chevy HHR SS. 298HP, 345FPT. A hell of a lot of fun to drive.
My family vehicle - 05 Pontiac Montana SV6 Ext. Good van, had it for 4 years and has been great for us

Haha, no...  I'm talking about the needlessly expensive cars.  I consider the Mustang to be more of a muscle car than a sporty car.  There's a lot of Mustangs year round on the road, up here

We get plenty of over-sized trucks and SUVs...  in my neck of the woods, they're mostly driven by farmers.  So, I guess they can kind of justify it.

My work vehicle is a 03 F250 Ext Cab Long Box Gas with a high performance 5.4L V8.

Personnel vehicle is a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext Cab Short box which needs some body work and paint job this winter if I get the cash.
