I need help. I suck at spray paint work. It seems to crack on me. Am I doing it too close? Not waiting long enough? To much paint?

More than likely the WRONG kind of the paint for the plastic.

What you have there is called crazing, a modelmaking term for paint incompatibility with plastic.

Lemme guess, you used a enamel paint from a can, something like Testors?

The key here, with these kinds of plastics, is to use an acrylic primer as a base coat--then you can spray on just about anything over top. Acrylics will not craze on plastic--if applied right ( meaning don't use too much thinning chemicals--stick with water).

I'll have to look at the paint when I get home. I know the white was automotive paint I got my KW-Surplus. The red also came from KW-Surplus but it's not auto paint.

If its automotive paint, then its likely lacquer-based, and the lacquer is what caused the crazing.  You can use the lacquer paint, but you'll need to put down an acrylic primer first so the plastic and lacquer cannot react to each other. Lacquer should not react with acrylic, so you should have no problem spraying over that.
This is one of those things to remember for "next time" because I don't think you'll be able to strip the paint here and start over.

For what it is worth, even using arcylic (which I used on mine) those side wings were a bitch, and while mine don't have the same issue as yours, I just was not happy with the result.

They received the exact same treatment as the other red ares I painted (Tamiya Sprays Italian red for the base with a light Mica Red top coat) but I just wasn't happy with the way they turned out, and one of the reasons I decided not to reapply them.

Nah, not going to strip it. For $10.00 I'll just go buy a new one.

I considered grabbing a second one to try again, but I'm going to be happy with this one, and and am now thinking about what I might convert for the Shadows next.

Not sure seeing I already have one for my G.I.Cobra army.

That said seeing I have Trakker piloting it, I have considered spraying it blue to match the Switchblade.

Oops, forgot to update this thread now that the crew has been added. Have to love that Arctic Destro figure, fit perfectly for what I needed.

Very well done. It is not recognizable as a Joe vehicle any more. Cobra!
