GI Joe Renegades voice cast breakdown.

Found this:

Personally, I think it looks great.  Of course not every aspect of it, but most of it.

However,

Here is what I posted after reading a bunch of negative feedback on their forums:

Wow talk about a lot of negativity.

Once again for everyone.  This isn't ARAH!!!!  It seems that TF fans finally figured it out and enjoy the new versions they get every couple of years.  We need to start doing the same.

I'm actually glad to see that the show isn't going with the one dimensional Cobra vs. Joe.  Having the government after them, using other Joes basically, should make for some interesting stories.  As long as they don't dumb it down too much for kids.  It makes sense the governemnt would want them to come in and if they don't follow orders then they would send people after them.  Granted, it may not make for good long term story telling, but we have to wait and see.

Also, the characterization/backstory behind each character seems like more actual thought was put into each character than was put into the whole line of characters for most of the past 10 years.  Some will work, others won't, that's just the way it goes.  However it looks like at least it won't be for a lack of trying.  Voices could really make or break some of the characters.  Cobra Commander is still going to be a masked man behind the scenes with a "fake" Adam Decobray character.  That makes infinitely more sense than a masked man who is always seen trying to run an organization behind a mask.

Cobra also has a more realistic goal.  Rather than world domination, or power through money, it seems to be more along the fanatical side with the desire to rebuild the world in their image (much like certain terrorist groups today).

I'm hopeful for the new series.  The art design doesn't move me, but it doesn't look awful either.

I agree completely.  Start complaining AFTER you've seen the finished product.  And remember, it wasn't made just for you.

Clone Wars is turning out to be great and we have one of the main writers.

i cottoned on to the 'it's not ARAH, but that's okay' mentality before RoC opened.

i managed to accept different Transformers lines back around 2001 when i bought a feckload of RiD toys...

(still think Armada and all that minicon guff was shit though)

I've noticed that Joe fans who are also TF fans tend to accept the concept of multiple universes a little quicker, in my experience. Probably because TFs have been rebooting the line every 1-2 years for a while now. With Joes, it's a relatively new concept. A few years from now, a new Joe storyline probably won't generate the same debates as they do now. Of course, I might be wrong...

As for Renegades, I'm looking forward to it. If it's on a level of storytelling, voice acting and animation as Wolverine and the X-Men, I'll be happy. If it's the case, it will still be very accessible to kids, but also enjoyable for adults.

So... Cobra Commander is now a DeCobray, but Baroness isn't anymore?
I can't wait to see this though.

Lee Majors as General Hawk and Clancy Brown as Destro (according to IMDB).  Looks like it will sound pretty good.

i'm on a forum for a Transformers Quake 2 mod and i'm the only one on there who actually likes Bayformers, whereas everyone else is a militant Geewunner.

it's weird, though, i accept the fact that comics get changed in the adaptation, yet i hate Harry Potter and 'Clear and Present Danger' for the fucked up adaps they made...

Much of the criticism I've seen (mine included) is the look of the animation style. I'm fine with multiple continuities, and have been for a while now. As long as the spirit of Joe and main character traits are there, I'm fine. But this style of animation they seem to be going for is freaking ugly. The characters look terrible. They all look like their pants are going to fall down or something. But, I'm not the demographic they're marketing towards. If the story and characterization are strong enough, I can probably overlook the character designs. I just find it disappointing that nobody does animation in a semi-"realistic" style anymore. :(

I hear what you're saying about the art. I'm not crazy about it either. However, I thought the same thing about the visual style the used for Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. But, thanks to great storylines, writing and voice acting, those shows became some of my all-time favorites. Hopefully, Renegades will do the same  :)

I was definitely impressed with the apparent effort put into the character "file cards" and the main premise for the show.  It is, after all a kids cartoon.  I'm just glad to see they aren't treating it like a kids cartoon.  There doesn't seem to be a dumbing down for kids.

So far, from what I have seen and read, these are some faves/highlights:

JOE:

I think Flint has the best "look/design" of what I have seen, but Snake Eyes has a really good back story.  Similar to the old SE but now a mercenary instead.  NICE!!  The Joes aren't above using whatever help they can.

COBRA:

Definitely the entire leadership is well thought out.  From CC to Destro, to Baroness and SS.  Those 4 are my favourite characterizations.  As for looks.  I love the design of Destro and Storm Shadow.  CC and Baroness are nice, but my preference is for the other two right now.

My favourite vehicles so far are the Black Dragon, MARS Gunship and HISS Drone.

I personally just think that instead of having multiple universes why not just leave my old joes back in the 80's and just create and use all new characters for todays kids. New joes for new demographic. Hasbro has released lots of new characters that should get a chance to shine. That's my preference. Having said that I'm all in favour of anything that brings me awesome toys.

Single universe approach seems to working for Star Wars.  I thought perhaps during the days of Spytropps and VvV, we were almost heading there with the likes of Crosshairs and Barrel Roll.  Now we have Kickstart and Nightfox to start.
