It's a shame because we had the world's number one ranked Navy coming out of WWII and not until the last decade we had the number one ranked Army in terms of training and skill based on the international war games, still top 5.  It's sad that we are an under equipped and under funded army.  It's funny when I was young the running jokes were about the Polish Army's equipment, now the same jokes hold true about our armed forces.

why bother invading, I think we can tell the aliens that canadians are very accepting of immigrants.

It's funny they actually refer to Canada and aliens in the movie.  I won't tell you the context in case you see the film.

I do not plan to see the movie, can you PM the context? That way you don't have to spoil it for anyone.

on the other hand, whilst we may not have the numbers, we've got a hell of a lot of experienced veteran troops these days. that ought to count for something.
the bigger the army, the more targets the opposition has...

+1 that's the attitude!

This saying reminded me of the late Edward John Smith, Capt. of the Titanic, who was heard telling the passangers not to panic, but to "BE BRITISH".

EDIT: added a missing word in the sentence.
