G.I. JOE ACTION FIGURES MEASUREMENT CHANGE
April 2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

G.I. JOE ACTION FIGURES MEASUREMENT CHANGE

Action Figures will now be issued with metric system measurements!

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (April 1, 2007)  It's been twenty-five years for the 3 3/4-inch scale, and forty-three for the 12-inch scale, but Hasbro will be making the move to the metric system. Starting this summer, Hasbro will no longer refer to the scale of their classic G.I. JOE action figures in the traditional Imperial scale, and will now refer to everything using the metric system.

In addition, they will now describe each figure by its exact measurement. Says Brian Savage of the official G.I. JOE Collectors' Club: "It has always bugged me that all A REAL AMERICAN HERO Joes have been called 3 3/4" figures when they all vary in size. Same thing goes for the 12" figures who are really 11 1/2"...I mean come on, does every man round up from 5' 10" to 6 feet?"

To commemorate this change, new packaging will be issued for the 9.53 centimeter A REAL AMERICAN HERO Anniversary figures along with the release of a 29.21 centimeter series of KUNG-FU GRIP figures that features popular ADVENTURE TEAM characters in vintage style boxes.

Sure to delight fans both new and old, the 9.53 centimeter A REAL AMERICAN HERO and the 29.21 centimeter KUNG-FU GRIP series will be the most detailed and articulated G.I. JOE figures ever!

Hasbro?s G.I. JOE brand revolutionized the toy industry and forever altered the way boys play with the advent of the action figure in 1964.  G.I. JOE has been among the most popular boy brands of all time and has provided millions of boys with endless backyard adventures.  Throughout its 43-year history, the G.I. JOE brand has constantly evolved, keeping relevant to new generations through new toy trends and innovations such as the ADVENTURE TEAM and KUNG-FU GRIP of the 70s and the A REAL AMERICAN HERO line of the 80s. To be honest I took it from The Gijoe collectors' club and don't feel bad night force cynic--I did the same thing the first time I read it. :P
