General Joe Talk / Re: Foreign Dragonfly
« on: February 06, 2015, 07:19:08 PM »
Thanks for confirming my suspicions, I was hoping you'd see my post Sundance. Since most of the South American ones have custom decals that are quite different than the originals I've narrowed it down to Japanese, Mexican, or Funskool. I've got a Tanker looking into the Japanese stickers for me so that might solve the mystery.

Oh, that WHALE I mentioned came with glossy German instructions. Mail-away for someone living on a US base in Gernmany maybe?

Any one know what country produced a Dragonfly with the US flag with the colours inverted? Otherwise it seems to be the same. (I can't compare it together with the original)

Also, did the mail-away WHALE have the new Joe logo (90's version) for the decals and was a different green than the original?

Red engine guard is near impossible to find loose and unbroken. Find someone selling a complete FANG for $25 and sell the one you have for $10.

Off Topic / Re: Target to close all its stores in Canada
« on: January 18, 2015, 06:00:56 AM »
I went to one of the grand openings (one of the early ones in Canada) and it was hilarious how little stock was on the shelves. We went back about once a week (we used to hit the Starbucks there on lunch break) and it took about 6 months for the store to feel properly stocked. We would go to the kitchen appliances section each week (my friend was re-populating his kitchen after a breakup) and the selection was horrible for so long. It was really a waste of time for people to go there only to find nothing they wanted. They spent a fortune remodeling a bunch of the stores out here in malls. No idea what's gonna take their places after we lost Woodwards, Eatons, Woolcos, & Zellers with Sears and Best Buy circling the drain. Probably something to cater to the Chinese population like T&T Supermarket.

Replacement microphones-pieces for everyone!!!

I don't know what will be the offer. We will the rights to pic anything: a vehicle part, a fig, an accessory?

And the big question is... what will be the cost. When you include everything: Design, manufacturing cost, then a fee for Hasbro (intellectual property), shipping... not sure how much this will cost since it's not mass production.

Reading through the MLP section of their site it looks like it'd have to be unique art, statues and the like. As for cost, the stuff they have for sale starts at $40 or so.

I changed my mind since I started this post. I want to go back and collect the 82-94 figures again. I will start slow, at least that is what I am hoping. Seeing the vintage stuff again still lights my fire. I have been looking at ebay and bought a few things but it seems like there is lot of repo stuff on there in the weapons department. You have to really watch what weapons are being included even when the figure says complete. Thankfully the Yo Joe site and the collector's books are available to me. The prices also seem all over the place. It is difficult to sort through it all sometimes but at the same time I find that kind of fun and that is why I like collecting. The thrill of the hunt I guess.

Good to have you back. Each figure will be a rung to the top of the GI Joe ladder! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERADICATOR!

I got back into music for a while in the summer. I bought a bunch of new gear (new guitar, bass guitar with amp, new guitar amp, mic, wireless mic, digital drums, etc...)

What? No turntables? No strobe light or fog machine? What kind of music are you gonna make with all those restaurant decorations?

Duke
Scarlett (with a new head sculpt)
Cobra Commander
Cobra Trooper

Snake Eyes can be packaged with the first 6" vehicle. A RAM cycle I think.

I went to sell spare ARAH vehicles at a toy show in late Nov. and lost money on the day and the only interest I get on CL is people looking to get the stuff cheap to resell. All the spares are getting dumped into totes for the time being along with whatever spare figs I have kicking around. I've been putting off assembling a couple of WHALEs and a TTBP so I might to that to keep me occupied but they're likely to end up in totes as soon as I'm done rather than on eBay or CL. I also have a Crusader to be peroxided, it's apart but I was putting it off until I had something else to treat at the same time.

My ARAH collection ('82-'90) is down to about 10 of the rarer toys and a handful of paperwork items. My Joe room has my vehicles on shelves according to year and I need to do a major re-organization because I bought that stupid Missile Command HQ and it's huge. I've got a friend donating a couple new shelves and with another Detolf case I could put most everything on display (I only have room up to '86 for now) but it's a choice between the FLAGG and some spare jets/helicopters or the HQ, MCC and Rolling Thunder.

Either that or nitpick paint on figures for the next 6 months. :P

I'll keep an eye on the local CL to see if anyone puts up something I want and I'll go as a buyer to a local show or two for something to do but these days I only find the occasional filecard I want. :(

What is a "CL"?

CL = Craigslist

They got down to $35 at one point so I couldn't resist a couple more. Of course I only built one for now, they are pretty big.
