JoeCanuck Trading Cards / Thank you!
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:46:15 PM »
Wow. I got the cards in today and they are very cool. To all those involved, a great big thank you. Amazing quality. Fantastic stuff. I'm learning more and more around here about these 3 3/4 guys. Awesome.

Cheers,
Ian

Customs / Rockslide
« on: June 06, 2010, 02:09:41 AM »
This is my feeble attempt at customizing the Rockslide. I painted the skis a darker grey and tried to add a dusting of snow. The missiles were also painted. I gave the interior a try and it's sloppy but I had fun trying.

This was what it looked like before I started.

General Joe Talk / Ongoing Comic Series Question
« on: June 02, 2010, 12:35:49 PM »
Hey All,

I've read the first five issues of G.I. Joe, the ongoing series and love it so much I want to grab the next parts in print, preferably in TPB. Can someone please tell me how many books are covered in Vol. 1 and what issues are covered in Vol. 2?

IDW has an iPhone/iTouch app that allows you download the comics for less. In store they're $3.99 US (I found a great shop in Oakville that sells at US cover prices) but online directly from IDW you can get them $1.99. Also, if you download this free app, you can get a bunch of free comics, including the first classics issue - 29 pages. As I've said, I was so impressed with this and other G.I. series (Cobra, Origins) that I'm looking to grab the TPB now.

Cheers,
Ian

Customs / Charbroil
« on: June 01, 2010, 02:14:55 PM »

Hey,

This is the first time I tried my hand at painting. I didn't like Charbroil's gun so I worked on that and the tanks, too. Not much, but it was a lot of fun. What paint do you all prefer for these figures?

Cheers,
Ian

General Joe Talk / G.I. Joe Collector's Club...
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:12:39 AM »
For Canadians, is joining this club worth the $63 US? You pay for a membership to pay for product and then I'm sure you pay way too much to ship the items to Canada - or am I wrong on this one?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

General Joe Talk / My First 3-3/4"
« on: August 24, 2009, 11:24:22 PM »
I was at Walmart about a half hour ago and wondered down the toy aisle. I took a look through the movie figures and grabbed a Pit Commando and Deep Six. They are really cool. Can't wait to set them free!

General Joe Talk / A brief history of G.I. Joe
« on: August 12, 2009, 07:10:36 PM »
Something that Mike wrote got me thinking. Without the original G.I. Joe there'd be no 3 3/4" Joes. I found a short on Youtube and just had to share. The action figure reference was interesting. You can check it out on my blog at: http://authorianoneill.blogspot.com/200 ... html

General Joe Talk / Do collectors hate 12" Joes?
« on: August 07, 2009, 12:49:29 PM »
I was on her a while back and there were a few people who trashed the 12" figures of old and new. Do collectors hate the 12" G.I. Joe? If you do, why?

General Joe Talk / Most realistic Joe?
« on: June 28, 2007, 02:53:52 PM »
Hey All,

I'm curious to know which of all the G.I. Joes you think is the most realistic representation of a member of the military.

Thanks,

Introductions / Hello...My First Post! Woo Hoo!
« on: June 01, 2007, 10:13:14 PM »
Hey All,

I'm Ian and I stumbled onto this great forum when doing a general search for G.I. Joe. I've rekindled my interest in action figures (43 with little cash to spend - go figure) and that includes Joe. He's definitely gone through quite a few changes since I beat the crap out of him right through the seventies. Hands down the best toy ever made! The sad part is that I outgrew Joe and poof - he disappeared. Given to friends with little ones no doubt. It's how I lost all of my toys. I didn't mind at all. Besides, now I get to looking for new ones  ;D

I checked out the store and there are a few low priced figures I'd like. I'm hoping to be at the Burlington Toy Show this Sunday (depends on family commitments of course). Hope to meet you Mike - loved the shots of your collection.

I'm a writer (freelance - mostly wildlife and nature but a bit of science and sports) and I try to shoot as many shots to accompany my work. I've recently started dabbling in stop motion animation with my digial camera. Those 3-3/4" Joes would look pretty good in a short film. I haven't written anything yet but I'd love to make a short film about them. Who knows, if I get good enough maybe a few of you major collectors might want to lend your Joes for a shoot?

Anyway...looks like a great place with a great bunch of people. I'm hoping I can keep up.

Cheers,
Ian 'Recon' O'Neill
