A brief history of G.I. Joe
« on: August 12, 2009, 07:10:36 PM »

Something that Mike wrote got me thinking. Without the original G.I. Joe there'd be no 3 3/4" Joes. I found a short on Youtube and just had to share. The action figure reference was interesting. You can check it out on my blog at: http://authorianoneill.blogspot.com/200 ... html

Cheers,
Ian

Pretty cool video.  Definitely cool that it was the "original action figure".

Without the huge success of Kenner's Star Wars line, there'd be no 3 3/4" Joes as well.  A lot of thinks to thank for leading to the ARAH line.

Yes, but before Star Wars there was Adventure People and Microman.

True.  I guess it doesn't make too much of a difference, in the long run...

Eventually one of the 3 3/4 lines would have become hugely popular and sparked GI Joe's smaller size.  Might have well been Star Wars, but it could have been anyone.

Wonder what the next evolution will be.  The Combat/Galaxy/etc Heroes look like they're taking off, but no one else is copying them...  yet
