Title: The 334th Joe Company Decals
Post by: beekerzz24 on October 04, 2006, 07:18:30 PM
Have any of you guys used these replacement decals?
They look pretty good, and was thinking of ordering a bunch of
kits. Let me know your opinion or past experience.

Hey there,

I've used them. It's kind of hit or miss... He does good work, definitely, but a lot of them don't match the originals very well. Apparently there was a problem using white ink, but then again, some of his sets DO have white ink, so I don't know what that's about. Maybe he started out not being able to use it, and now he can.

Sets that I particularly like and have used are the Snow Cat, the Flight Pod and the CLAW, all of which match the originals pretty well as far as I can tell. The VAMP looks to have a white GI Joe logo too, but I don't yet have one to apply them on. Most of the Cobra stuff is pretty good, but if you're looking to a HISS or a Moray, go with Ruben's stuff.

I prefer Ruben's stickers because of their accuracy, but the 334th stuff is good too, and seems to be getting better. I only wish he'd update some of his sets to match his better ones, in particular the Armadillo (since I have one that is in sore need of replacement decals right now!).

He has a contact email for inquiries and ordering. I don't have it (sorry) but if you ask as some of the other boards someone's bound to have it. Try Joesightings, I think some of the guys there have ordered from him before.

Time to re-visit this thread

The 334th GI Joe Company decals have been slammed and ripped apart recently with good cause.  View thread below:

http://forums.yojoe.com/showthread.php?t=44134 (http://forums.yojoe.com/showthread.php?t=44134)

Ruben on the other hand, has been getting great reviews.  It's freaking funny that he can post this info on yojoe and doesn't get his hand slapped unlike Midnight Chinese figures or repro parts.  My ancestors came up with a word for this: Hypocrites.  Any ways, I placed an ordered for Tomahawk and Defiant stickers from Ruben and they should be here a week or so.   Having vehicles with little or no decals does kind of suck.  And looking at the quality of his work

 (http://http://img11.imagevenue.com/loc582/th_29586_AWE_Striker_122_582lo.JPG) (http://http://img11.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=29586_AWE_Striker_122_582lo.JPG)

I can't wait.  It's not like I am going to an original sticker sheet unless I buy a MIB item.  So this is the best next thing. Plus Mastercollectors sticker sheets seem to be like this as well and nobody makes a stick about it.  They are reproductions as well.

According to Ruben, he now has the following:

APC $5.99
Avalanche $5.99
AWE Striker $4.99
Conquest X-30 $6.49
Defiant Space Shuttle Complex $16.99

I have a Stinger sticker sheet that came with a Stinger I bought (which had stickers on it already in damn good shape) that came from Ruben. I haven't had a reason to use the stickers yet, but from looking them over they're very, very nice. Whenever I get around to doing sticker replacements I'm definitely going to go with him.

I assume Ruben's stickers are not pre cut?  Just like 2006 Mastercollectors ATVs and Warthog.

As far as I know, he doesn't have a website.  He just posts what he has on the yojoe mesage board.

Nope they're not precut. Other than that, they look *exactly* like the Hasbro counterparts. Nice and crisp and the white stickers are stellar. I think you'll really like them, Pete.

Its a good thing  i  never ordered from the 334th after that yo joe forum bitch session. Lots of good background info on his cheap decals.
I think i'll order a few decal kits first from Ruben first and try them out, as joe index says there impressive.

The list I just posted was from an email he sent to his customers yesterday.  Makes sence if you can avoid ebay fees. Word of mouth is helping him.  If the decals I bought from blow me away, I will order more just to fill out the rest of vehicles that are are missing a couple of stickers.

I got the decals last friday from Ruben.

Overall, the quality is pretty good.  As a I suspected, the reproduction sheet sheet is not 100% identical to the original decals.  Some decals with white were to bright and some with very thin black lines doesn't show up clearly.  Still better than nothing.

What a pain in the ass to cut one sticker sheet down into the individual ones.

I had heard good things about Rueben's decals, but I hadn't ordered any yet.

You had said if they blew you away you would order more. Did they?

Although the stickers are not a 100% replica (which is considered a good thing), I will order more. The inks do not rub off with hard pressure, something I was worried about at first.  I will take a picture of the Ruben decals affixed on a Tomahawk with another Tomahawk with original decals at the end of the week.

These decals are great for any custom project.

I look forward to seeing the pics Pete, I have some vehicles that really could use some new decals as the originals didn't make it through my childhood.

You know what I would like to get... all those nasty paper stickers redone like traditional vinyl labels. Paper stickers are so much more prone to damage. Replacing all of those would be great.

Here are the pictures.  The American decal is Ruben's and the Canadian decal is the real deal/original.

 (http://http://img163.imagevenue.com/loc175/th_95981_Picture_001_122_175lo.jpg) (http://http://img163.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=95981_Picture_001_122_175lo.jpg) (http://http://img103.imagevenue.com/loc108/th_96042_Picture_002_122_108lo.jpg) (http://http://img103.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=96042_Picture_002_122_108lo.jpg) (http://http://img175.imagevenue.com/loc222/th_96066_Picture_003_122_222lo.jpg) (http://http://img175.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=96066_Picture_003_122_222lo.jpg)

The third picture shows the original decal and the reproduction one still not applied.  After comparing the two, you can see some of the reproduction ones not 100% identical.

Is anyone doing Canadian reproduction stickers or has anyone ever asked.  I always prefer the Canadian labelled joe items but they seem to be getting harder to find.

In order for Ruben to create these reproductions, he would require some one first to send him the original decal sheet for scanning. So I guess no one has sent him any Canadian decal sheets.
