I was waiting to see if anyone else was going to post the Pics first as I took mine with my Blackberry. I had a great conversation with Mike and Jason on the Sunday where they did play coy with me on what they did and did want to reveal. Without further ado, please scroll down if you want to see the Prototypes....

Quite nice. This years stuff is looking good.
-
looks like 5 new Cobras (including ICE Queen) and 3 new good guys.
and i see evil-zombie-virus-science-dude is back...
-
That wrap around cover is pretty sweet. Kind of wish that could be the box art for the set.
-
you know, that woman on the CanaJoe team looks like my Aurora character was described, but with a different outfit....
...just saying...
could be a coinky-dink...
-
What would be interesting twist in this EPIC battle between the forces of Good and Evil....
Ice queen being the Big Sister of Moose Jaw... there would be some great drama from that... IMO...

This set has been in the works since September / October. I think I remember what you are talking about and thinking to myself that it sounded a similar to what we have in the works but obviously I have to keep my cards close to my chest.
It's just a coinky-dink. Trust me on that.

Very interesting stuff! The comic looks fabulous, looking forward to seeing more.

If it ever comes to that, I will finish reading the comic book and recycle it....(or send it to Sundance for free).
I'm tired of storylines where two characters are sibblings. It cripples the story IMO, it constraints the story from the beginning. I prefer to that a story where characters are totally mysterious (and I mean totally) to each other from the beginning and get to know each other as the adventure evolves. That in my opinion, is a story that is harder to tell, but when done magnificently, can be a great story to retell. However I don't mind if Black Ice and Joecanuck battle to the death let's say on issue #1071, and Joecanuck kills Black Ice, only to find out while removing his mask, that Black Ice was TIMBIT all this time....THAT to me, would be the BEST TWIST EVER
-
And to get back on track, those two Cobra North characters look very interesting. Can anyone tell me if the head of the character to the left is a custom head, or if it's the head from an existing joe figure? I'm afraid I've never seen it before. Same goes for the guy on the right, don't know where the head comes from.

In the thread Let guess there names, someone said the head on the left was from Slayer Designs.. and the head on the right is SE...

i meant my character from my expand-the-universe entry. whom i only ever drew by hand and never posted a pic of her online.

I think I've confused your post with another one then.
Rest assure, she was not based on anyone's suggestions.
-
Cobra North figures look AWESOME!
-
Looks cool. Just to confirm, these are still hand painted customs though right? Just done in larger numbers? Any chance the CJC will ever be able
to get factory made and painted products for the Convention, or are the numbers still to low?
-
I'm not involved in the creation of these sets, but they are a step above hand painted customs. Past sets included factory quality (and I believe factory made) blueprints, sticker sheets, file cards, and set box, as well as the professional painting of the vehicles like the chrome hisstank. As for the figures themselves, they are primarily dyed the desired color, which is of course a more permanent approach than hand painting.
-
Basically what Turner just said. Plus, we're now moving into casted parts territory. While it's true, most anyone could attempt to make these, there's always something within the set that can't be reproduced. (Timbit's Beaver for example, the Cobra North Flag, etc).
As for Hasbro making figures for us, that would be a question only answered by them. I suppose it would show interest if the next time a Q&A comes around, people asked about it. But the truth of the matter is, we're not Master Collector, and don't have the "pull" they do to have things made. So.... maybe one day, but for now, we're still young at this, so I would say it's not likely to happen anytime soon.
But, I've been wrong before.
-
Mike --You may have been wrong before, but you and the rest of your team are doing lots of things right. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing the rest of this set!
-
That chrome hisstank is arguably the coolest joe item ever.
And what customizer can cast a snake armor or have file cards written by Larry Hama?
Not to mention an outstanding first rate comic.
But, yeah, we'd all love to see Hasbro open their factories to you guys. I'm sure that would rock!
