General Joe Talk / Re: Thoughts on Classified and Retro lines?
« on: December 22, 2023, 04:59:13 PM »
As much as I love the idea that HasLabs are unique and their limited runs make them special.  I would really like to see this released to regular retail channels, but in Blue, Red, White - or dare I say shiny chrome?

I can see them releasing an Arctic Hiss somewhere. I said elsewhere that if I can get another one cheap enough, I'll take it apart, and get it chromed up like the HATE.

I opened mine last night and looked at it. Can't set it up until my new showcase arrives.

Speaking of which, I have no use for this Gunner or the fa choice fgure.. so if anyone wants to trade a Driver for either one, LMK.

Clearly the wrong one was voted in.

I would of legit gotten my Hiss Tank chromed when it arrived had this guy gotten voted in.

SPONSOR SECTION / Re: Hub City Toys Closing Early 2014
« on: February 01, 2015, 05:25:46 PM »
With the new year I have to say how sad it is to see my long ago prediction hold true a year later.

Still sad to see so many online places gone.  Also a shame Mike has limited his online presence to the point of locals only almost.

What do you mean?
I've not been online much because I re-opened my store in Sept of 2012.
It's taking up a bunch of my time, and I don't have the time it takes anymore to do a complete inventory on the website.

If all goes well, 2015 is going to be huge for BHT, and online items should be back online by the summer.

But if you ever need anything, all you have to do is email me via the BHT site, or via the Facebook page (facebook.com/bhtoys). It's updated a couple of times a week.

Message Board News / ....and the new owners are!...
« on: June 27, 2014, 10:53:19 PM »
Jon S. and Pete The Greek.

I don't want to go into why I'm handing over the site to these two fine folks. Just know that I personally think it will be in great hands with them at the helm.

I will say that I 100% trust them with the future of JoeCanuck.com, and that in the last 10+ years that I've known them, they've been nothing but courteous, honest, and all around great with me.

I had multiple people contact me about this site, and in all honesty, I was about to sell the site and the board to a current member until Jon and Pete said they wanted it. So, free of charge, I tossed them the keys, and it's now in their hands.

In the upcoming weeks, the site may be down again while it gets moved to a hosting company they're more comfortable with, or while they make changes to the site.

I'll still be an Admin around here for awhile longer (or forever, if they wish) while the changes take place, but I expect I'll be less active since I won't "have" to check in every day to ensure there's no spam and everything is working alright.

If you have any questions, for myself, Jon, or Pete, please feel free to post them here.
It's been a great 13 years running this place (mostly). Thanks!

and there's no push to get a third movie made.

Oh, really?

I don't know what you guys expect?... There's no toyline due to there being no cartoon or movie to support a line for a major retailer.

Major retailers set the standard for what toys will be bought nowadays. It's obvious. Walk down a toy aisle, and you'll see only currently produced TV/Movie/ etc brands lining the shelves.

In the case of Sideshow - why would they put out a line that most Joe fans don't support, with no tie-in to help promote them?... G.I. Joe isn't Star Wars, and never will be at that iconic level.

If you want to join the lemmings and bitch about how there's no Joe product on the shelves, and dump your collections and say "Screw this line", then why did you even bother to collect it in the first place?... You can enjoy a line of toys, etc without having to buy everything from it. I know people that HAD to have every figure and every variant... never understood the mentality of that. I don't own every Joe figure, or vehicle - and in truth, I trimmed my Joe collection down to what I LIKE from it, and that's it. I own no 25th, no movie figures, and no 12". I enjoy the hell out of G.I. Joe still. I can watch those cartoons and re-read those Marvel comics over and over - and enjoy them.

I don't read the new IDW stuff, and have no urge to do so.

I enjoy the live action movies for what they are - Blow up shit, action flicks. Seriously... Do you REALLY want to see a movie where a sailor is talking to his parrot all the time?

If everyone thinks Joe sucks now, then why not look to yourself to see what made it so enjoyable for you in the first place?

....and if Joe dies?... SO WHAT? Maybe it NEEDS a break.

My Little Pony, Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Star Trek were all "DEAD" properties at one time.... how are they doing now, after taking a break?

Joe "died" before, then it got SUPER hot, and that's most likely when you guys all got back into it... it happens.

I'm tired of reading about people whining about it.

General Joe Talk / Re: How much should I pay?

For reference, I sell complete Whales for $100-$120.

It's the parts that are in demand more than the WHALE itself. Even $50 seems like too much in this case.

$13 cost for the stickers, and $14 cost for shipping? You can buy a mint case with perfect original stickers for that price.

NOT April Fools.
I was one of the few lucky enough to know about this beforehand. These look amazing, and. I plan on backing his Kickstarter for them.

Problem with the registrar.

This site was renewed in January for another year.
If I ever choose not to renew it, you guys will now WAY in advance.... And someone else will most likely take it over.
