Title: Brians Toys is expensive.
Post by: morgardee on August 18, 2005, 04:01:13 PM
I was looking around on ebay and I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-JOE-ARAH-CARDED- ... dZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-JOE-ARAH-CARDED-1985-EELS-AFA-90-G-I-JOE_W0QQitemZ5992914723QQcategoryZ84610QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

It's a version 1 Eel MOC with a grade of 90 for the low low price of $1,199.99. Now I know some people are sucker but c'mon. $2,000.00 for an Eel with a nice package? Stuff like this really bugs me. That's why I've never bought from them and never will. They stick it to the guys who don't know better. Sure, buyer beware, but I'm sure I could con some old ladies living on a fixed retirement income out of their money to buy a vacuum cleaner. This to me is just as sleazy. Just because someone might pay that much, doesn't mean they should, or that it's fair take that much money.

Charging Twenty to a hunderish for a carded figure is alright, but when it costs more than two months of my mortgage, that's freaking crazy, in my opinion.

Anyhow, now that I've ranted I feel better now.

The carded EEL without AFA grading is less than $100.  But just because it got graded, it's now worth $1,200? Whatever.

Although I have spent some serious coin on international figures (i.e. Cobra White Mortal), I am not going to pay 1,180 US for packaging (the figure is not even worth 20 bucks in my books).  In my case, the White Mortal was worth it as nobody else in the collecting community I know claims to have one.  Carded EELS pop up on ebay once in a while.

The items are only worth what people are willing to pay for them.

There's a sucker born every minute.

But yeah, Brian's Toys is ridiculous.
