Title: WWE at the meet?
Post by: morgardee on February 05, 2005, 12:56:01 AM
So I have 2 questions. Are we playing WWE again and if so, what was the version? I'd like to try to make a character of myself if we play again.

Since I've started making guys for the Raw vs Smackdown version, I think if you were to make yourself, then you should use that version.
Also, be HONEST about it. Don't mark your strength up to a 10 if it's really a 4.

Ok. Loop, speak up on this if you wish.

I've REALLY been working on the Joe-Wrestlers for this years meet, but to be honest, I don't have that much spare time.

This is a complete list of everyone I made so far:

Snake - Eyes (v1) - I may delete him as I'm not happy with it.

Storm Shadow (v1) - Good enough for the game! :-)

Croc Master (v1) - Looks SWEET!

Firefly (v1) - Looks 'extra' sweet!

Blowtorch (v1) - Very happy with him - even wearing a helmet.

Roadblock (v1) - So easy to do, also looks great.

Road Pig (v1) - Big mean dude. I'm gonna LOVE using this guy!

Backstop - Just for Scramble (TRUST ME - it's JUST for him). He came out as one of the best looking guys when compared to his figure - no helmet.

All these guys are in the 6" to 6"2 range.
Road Pig and Croc Master are bigger as I always picured them as BIG mean guys anyway.

I'm planning on making Bazooka (v1), Major Bludd (v1) and a Cobra Officer (v1) as well.

Should anyone else wish to make any, be sure to take pics and email them to me. I'll take pics of the ones I've done, and we'll pick out the 30 best ones for the game.

I'll bring an 'extra' memory card that we can use so we can transfer them into the 2 PS2's that will be there (you ARE bringing yours rigfht Loop?)

You're a real sweetheart, Mike. I'm anxious to see Backstop myself. And Croc Master. I'll bet he looks badass.

I'd make some, but I don't own Raw vs Smackdown, a PS2, or character design skills.

That's the only problem I see.

Last time I made ALL the guys....... mainly due to me havinga sleeping problem at the time :shifty:

Now, I don't have that problem, and lack of spare time.

So I only have a few done.
Not alot of folks have bought the Raw vs Smackdown game that DO have a PS2, so I fear I'll be the only one making guys again.

Oh, as a side note, I SHOULD have pics posted by tomorrow, and I made OUTBACK this morning. :-)

I'd make some guys, but I don't have RAW vs Smackdown. The world will not end if we have less than 30 Joes, so don't fret too much, Mike.

I plan on making a Cobra Officer to 'fill' up the extra spots. :-)

We MUST have 30!

As promised, here's the ones I've done so far.

Snake Eyes is the only one I think I'm gonna re-do.
Any opinions?
Mike

I think I need to buy this game now. Don't think it'll be a greatest hits game any time soon so looks like I'll hit eb games and look for a used copy. I hardly ever pay full price on my games.

Try ebay first.
It's going ALOT cheaper than EBGames.
I had one in about 2 weeks ago and sold it for $40.00

Try Rogers Video also. - ANYWHERE but EBGames!

So I take it you like them?

Opinions? Sure.

Roadblock: Great upper-body, nice head, but the legs are lacking. They?re short and the colour is off. Plus the grey belt clashes with the rest big time. He?s really good, but with a little tweaking he?d be excellent.

Beach Head : Beach Head?s fantastic. I?m very impressed with the matched vest and even the beret tucked on his shoulder. Pants look sharp, not exactly how they look on the fig, but in this case they?re better.

Outback: I?d say Outback is perfect. Not only because you captured the v1 figure exactly, but also because he?s a nice choice to include in this year?s game. Last year you had a pretty core selection of the most recognizable Joes and Cobras. It?s nice to know you?re mixing it up this year.

Roadpig: I like everything here except the head. Roadpig has a very distinct button nose. And his hair isn?t the flat top we?re used to. I?m surprised this one didn?t come out as well as others.

Back-Stop: Very nice job on the face. The boots and gloves are sharp, pretty much exactly like the figure. I?d change the shade of yellow a bit. Yes Back-Stop?s pants are absurd but I don?t think they?re quite that blinding. Then there?s the shoulder-pads. I understand it?s tough to make metal shoulder pads out of clothes designed for wrestlers, but I?m not sold on the design you ended up with. It?s cut too low and has a zipper line in it. But hey, you put the effort into making Back-Stop, a figure you (for some treasonous reason) aren?t a fan of, so I owe you for that much. But did you have to make him the shortest one?

Snake Eyes: I really like the head. The chest matches up with v1 nicely. But the pants are dull. Could you add random belts and straps etc to liven it up? Otherwise, he?s not bad, I don?t know what issue you have with him.

Storm Shadow: I really like him. Like Beach Head, you?ve taken a few liberties that improve him. Nicely done.

Croc Master: Dude! Did you scan and download his belt or something? He?s excellent.

Blowtorch: Chest is great, pants look cool. Arms are a bit odd. I can imagine Blowtorch being one of the harder figures to recreate. You?ve made a character that?s identifiable as the fig he?s based on.

Firefly: Great camo. Chest?s a little bare, but he looks really good.

I'm going to try my hand at designing a couple figs tonight at my girlfriend's place. What should I do if I make a keeper?

Well, I can clearly see that the Joe wrestling this year in going to be a blast.  Many props to Mike for the custom wrestlers.

Is that a Beach Head I see?  Oooh I think it is  :D

Hey Scramble,
All great points, however the game only gives you 'so many' options to put things in.... as for pants, again, it's a wrestling game, so tights are usually the main option of the game.

The colors may be off on the CPU as well..... not sure.

Wicked-A!
I'm sure to have some free time all of next week, maybe I should add a few more to your list...
I already made a decent Carmen Electra....I know, I know...she's not a GIJoe...but she's freakin' Carmen Electra!

Hmmm... any plans to make Crazylegs or Chuckles?

Crazy Legs is too tough. I already tried.

Chuckles is too easy....... and it's Chuckles!

He's my 'reserve list'...... if I run out of time, I can make him easily.
Mike

PS - Loop, No carmen Electra.

What's wrong with eb games anyhow? I've gotten some good deals from them in the past.

The prices on 'newer' items like this one is TOO high for used product.
You can ALWAYS get it cheaper somewhere else - guaranteed.
If the game is a year or 2 old - then you should be able to get a good deal there - but anytthing in a 1-8 month age is only about 5 or 7 bucks cheaper than a new one.

Trust me Dave, you could most likely grab it for $30.00 CND elsewhere.

Fair enough. I'll swing by Blockbuster and Rogers this weekend and see if they have a used copy for $30.ish.

I was really wondering if there was some sort of story like they did something crappy to you and if that were the case then I would re-think shopping there.

No. Just they rip off people for their games (try selling them something), and you can only ever get 'credit' no money.

An indie store is your best bet. Game Centre in Toronto offers the best prices in the city, bar none. They'll usually knock at least $15 off the price on used vs new. (i.e. a $70 game will cost $50) and after 2 months, you'll start seeing the same game for $40 and eventually after 6-7 months it will sell for $20 to $30.

But they also won't give you much for your games. They make a smaller margin than EB but they get a LOT of business.

I have an EB Games story that might make you guys laugh at them. Last year (Feb 2 2004 to be exact) I was in EB Games with Sheryl in line to buy a game and the guy in front of me turned in a bunch of crap games in one of those trade 3 game a new game on preorder. I noticed they excepted his copy of Fantavision so I asked what was up since I couldn't trade mine before.

Turns out the guy worked there, it was his day off and EB Games was running a new special that started that day and they forgot to put the disclaimer "certain applications apply" or whatever the disclaimer phrase is that means they won't take junk.

So this employee was exploiting this fault and the guys behind the counter were laughing so I told them I'd be back in half an hour. Sheryl and I swung home and grabbed a bunch of crap games (including Fantavision) and traded them in for 1 preorder Halo 2 for my brother as a bonus birthday gift and a copy of Grand Turismo 4 for me.

My brother got his game as soon as it came out and back in December I got sick of the delays and they ended up giving me a nice shiny new copy of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Oh, I told my brother about the deal but by the time he got to the store the posters were changed and they would no longer take crap games.
That's my EB story. Not as cool as Mike's Future Shop story, but it's up there.
