Make your own convention set
« on: January 21, 2006, 08:53:33 PM »

Things have been quite around here so I thought I'd throw this out there, if you were at the Master Collector group, what would your connvention set be? A few things you have to keep in mind is why the figures would work together, it has to make a theme for the convention and if you know the mold is lost, then don't use it (ie - figures lost in Brazil like Dreadnok Torch). Also, part swapping is fine but let us know how you would paint it up.

I have a few ideas but I'll just do one for now:

Get ready to groan, G.I.Joe the movie.

G.I.Joe 3 pack:
Jinx
Sgt. Slaughter
Lt. Falcon (except he was used just a few years ago so maybe not)

Cobra Command figures:

Major Bludd (Chinese version painted in winter colours)
Serpentor (Comic pack version, new colours)
Dr. Mindbender (v1 head, waist and legs, Horror shows body/ arms in winter colours)

Army builders (6 of each):

Viper head on Stalker Version 2 bodies (all winter colours)
Snow serpent (v2)

Vehicles:
HAVOC (if it's still around)
Drawing a blank on other vehicles. Watch Battlestar Galatica right now.

3 pack:
Cobra-La but this time give Golobulus some legs dagnamit!

2 pack:
Big Lob (Static line head and bazooka v1 body)
Pythona (Jinx body with Sonja (MK) head, needs a new sculpt for the air)

For the convention they could try to hire Sgt. Slaughter to show up. He can yell at all us for fun.

The overview:  firefly and his team are trying to destroy a weapons research facility in the remote regions of the Rocky Mountains.(Suits well for a Colorado convention)  GI Joe's best option for interception is an airborne team led by Duke ( I know he leads everything but he is Airborne infantry)

GI Joe Team is
Duke, Rip Cord (In my opinion never had a version 2), Sgt. Airborne, Barrel Roll and Trip Wire.  Whole team, except Tripwire(repaint the original mold) has a Low-Light 2005 body.  Accesories and paint scheme are similar to Rip Cord 1984 (maybe more night force grizzly colours), except for individualized weapons and more of a Rollbar helmet.  Duke's head is Duke version 19.  Rip Cord's head is Med Alert's, Barrel Roll's is his Version 1 head and Sgt Airborne is a Backblast head with dark hair.

Cobra team is
Firefly with a Storm Shadow V 14 head and a Sgt Airborne V1 body
Scrap-Iron with a Scrap Iron V1 Head and a Sgt Airborne V1 body
and Demo Vipers using Night Viper arms and torso and Viper head,  waist and legs
Colour scheme is like Firefly V1 but dominant background is almost black with camo highlights of alpine gray.

Vehicles... need more thought.

I never thought that I'd say this, but I would totally buy Jin's suggestion. ;-)

Only change I would suggest is to use the 89' Deep Six for the muton.

http://www.yojoe.com/action/89/deepsix2.shtml

I've already put together my own con team. Then I held my own Con and didn't invite anyone. :shifty:

Rap, true about Deep-Six, but honestly it'd lack the fancy schmancy head items the original Muton had, plus a robot in a diving suit is kind of goofy. Star Brigade Sci-Fi's attire looks like a high-tech diving suit so it'd look cooler IMO.
